Degrees
Since discussion on degrees and exact courses hit a standstill, we'll start up GPA, and see how things go from there. Suffice to say, if you do graduate, you will get a degree of some sort.

Benefits of GP
At the moment the only benefits are that you'll learn how to do things without any really embarrasing experiences. Not that that's minor by any means. We're discussing creating an Almuni Army, and getting certain regions to grant benefits of some sort to graduates. Nothing's final yet, since we're just starting out. We will be offering teaching positions to excellent students however.

What to Do

Send a nation to the region "Gameplay Academy (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_region/region=gameplay_academy)". If you intend to take any region crashing courses, it must be your UN nation. UN nations are also encouraged for region building courses. You can still take both region crashing and region building courses at once since they overlap.
Sign up at the GPA forums: http://gameplay.board.dk3.com/2/index.php
Post an intro to yourself and what you would be interested in doing.
Be patient. We're just getting started, and hence a little disorganized.

Further note: GPA is like an academy in more way than one.

We also have research instittions to study the history, society, and mechanics of NS.

Although for students this would be an AP/ALPs course, non-students may apply to volunteer.

If anybody wishes to help in this area as a volunteer staff member, contact one of us (the four of us who signed plus Naleth and Unfree People are the main project members) and we'll consider your application (as long as you have moderate game experience and seem dedicated, we probably won't turn you down). We will publish the results periodically if we get enough of them.

Peace, Truth, and Justice,
Luke

Seems odd that you offer a course in region invasion but not region defense. Subtle differences I'll admit, but certaintly worthy of seperate classes.

X>=0We decided that counter invasions were similar enough to invasions that they could go together, and that defending your region from invasion was covered along with other things in region building.

I seem to recall that there were some objections when we were discussing it too.

If it makes you fell better I could add some sub-bullets.

We decided that counter invasions were similar enough to invasions that they could go together, and that defending your region from invasion was covered along with other things in region building.
That and that we don't expect to get many UN members at first. We already expect to need to bring our own UN nations into play. Offereing seperate courses of each type of crashing would make things really hard without calling in proffessional invaders/defenders, and that deafeats the point since professionals already come with a fixed mindset instead of teaching students to hae an open mind.

Having some experience defending regions without aid from professional defenders, just a minor course on identifing invaders would be worthwhile.

Also, are not defender/invader groups part of the NS experience and wouldn't their organization/adminstration/behaviors be a meaningful course of study?

I'm sure some counter-invader group would leap at the change to reduce their workload; some invaders would probably love the chance at getting recruits that actually know how to legally invade. End result, less griefing (people know the rules) and, hopefully, more civil counter-invaders.

But whatever, not like I'm in charge :-P

X>=0We're not running an outfit that just gives people a good spot to recruit from. However, if regions want to put their names forwards, we may recommend appropriate new regions for our graduated students where they are in the graduate's interest.

Hmm. . .
I'l bring it up on the private forum.

Thanks. :)

Yes to study perhaps. That's why we have the historical institute. Perhaps a seperate cultural one would be better though. We can't really teach it until we've compiled it after all. And by pairing them with one group, we would effectively decide their NS outlook for them. We'd rather teach them to make independent descisions.

Exactly, but the intent is to teach them the basics and teach them to think, so that they have a good choice as to who they work with. Of course I suppose that we could do internships.

Again, I'll bring it up and thanks.

Which means it's an experinenced and successful outfit, prefferably willing to offer jobs requiring experience (though not necesarily trust, since they'd still have to prove themselves to their new region in that regard) to graduates.

MTGN dropped pretty drastically when you left.

Would you be willing to teach a course on recruiting EM? :)

We had decided not to do it initially since none of us was really good at it.

Sure why not, i have recuited about 60 nations in a Welsh region i had back when i was a pretty young nation. I recruited the same number for Evility as well. I have also recuited for the new EoP, and the "Rejected Realms", Pacific NationStates, also Evilium.

All were projects i have decided to do, on the subject of region building i have been Delegate of EoP, Evility, An undisclosed region, The Welsh Highlands and Wales.

I've done a invasions and defending but they were also projects, i'll be in touch Qaaolchoura.

But i never actually recruited for MTNG i was going to do, but i preferred going on the Forums. :)

I have a question: will your courses have different levels? The basics for new players would be good, of course, but what about players who have some experience ... but aren't arrogant enough to think they have nothing left to learn?

At the moment there isn't any distiction between various types of instructor. I just created user titles "Instructor" and "Senior Instructor"

THis sounds very interesting. But alas I am a UN delegate of a region. Can I send my puppet over?
As long as you don't intend to take any courses that you need a UN nation on, of course.

Observers are welcome to send puppets, and UN nations are not required for non-crashing/counter crashing courses.
