Based on the spotlight on your nation, what would you say your nationstate is most like, in real life?

I had my nation opened for a little while at school, and when a teacher passed by he took a quick look and said it sounded like a "super-sweden"

Seriously, it's not really like any nation that I know of.

It's probably closest to Canada or Norway if they had nationalities and water problems.
And to think that three mods are calling for an invasion of Norway in General :shock:
Or maybe Costa Rica if Costa Rica had a strong military instead of none.

I am from Ecuador, but one of the coutnries I admire the most is Venezuela, they have put a halt on yakee imperialism 8)

Haven't a clue as to what mine would be close to. My people run around naked half the time. :D

if you could combine indiginous traditions with liberalism and near future alternative energy alternative everything using tecnology to live closer to nature, hi tec low stress do it yourself semi-potlatching; if you could combine the best qualities of switzerland and nepal and japan and canada and new zealand, in a near future with plenty of tec savvy but no oil, no war and no monetary economics;
where the dominant beliefs are agnosticism, taoism, and 'indiginousism' (for lack of a better word for being nice to the little spirit down by the creek without attempting to impose names and deffinicians on the nontangable)...

there may have been cultures on this earth that have resembled some aspects of carlemnaria, i'm sure there have been many that came close in spirit, but if there is any nation in the mundane world that resembles it at all closely, well i haven't heard of any.

when the thousand year reiche of corporate capitolism colapses, perhaps rolled over by the demise of cheep oil, and after people get done starving and killing each other for the last crumbs after that, THEN something very like the carlemnaria i envesion may very likely emerge.

when people have been forced to realize the hard way by real natural circumstances that they can't really afford how easy the circular logic of little green pieces of paper makes lying to themselves about everything else and that their own personal existence, let alone well being, is utterly dependent on the well being of all life ...

if worse then the worst that can happen can and does there's no good reason to assume that better then the best can't or won't too

maybe it sounds too much like big rock candy mountain to a lot of people but it isn't a free lunch. not that anyone has to do anything they don't enjoy doing unless they want a more then minimal existence nor will anyone be impressed by what someone else accumulates but only by what they are generous and creative with

computers might be mass produced but televisions won't be, modems but not voice phones, little people sized trains but not automobiles, solar cells and batteries and windmills and even small scale hydro, but nothing that requires combustion to generate energy.

there might even be once again a space program, when the science and tecnology of gravity modulation are arrived at, if and when that becomes possible.

here i'm rambling and that isn't what i meant to do

but there really is no other better way to describe what carlemnaria resembles

and i honestly don't know enough of the mundane world to know if any contemporary nation even remotely resembles its more cogent aspects

I am trying to moddel it after the Netherlands only better. So far I have succeeded.

Why the Netherlands you may ask? Because it is the best country one can find on this side of existence, of course.

I would say that my country looks like modern-day Denmark. Weird, but there you go. Closest thing that springs to mind.

With White Lotus Eaters I wanted to create a nation with the geography, climate and people of some of the places I'd visited in South East Asia: eg Bali and Lompok. I've always thought Indonesia would be a brilliant country to RP, all those islands and cultures add up to a suprisingly large land area and population. If only it weren't for East Timor ... :(

What's wrong with East Timor?

Although UN labels Hazatak as "Democratic socialists", I think it kinda looks like a random republic from central Africa, with little civil rights and political freedom, and weak economy, plus luxuriant forests.

But we are just starting to improve it.

They've been fighting a terrible civl war over there for years. Although, the UN sent peacekeepers, it's still not too good of a place.

Oh, I've never really thought about what country I'd be. I need to think about it...

My new nation is most like North Korea.

The ruler is a complete asshole who threatens to blow up the entire world and supresses and kills all of his people without mercy.

Also, the government is Communist, meaning there are no elections for anything and I, the ruler, decide absolutely everything!

arrgh.. i tryed to make my country like switzerland (obviously) but i failed.. the resaults of the desicions you make on this game are too exreme and now i have no forests and a nation of intolerant vegeterians.. :cry:

Well, for one thing, crime in your nation is high...just like in russia. I'd have to say you did well.

Country is still new and developing, but right now, I'd say it most resembles Yugoslavia (I'm just glad were not building crappy cars.)

While appropriate, perhaps, for Switzerland or Netherlands, cow is an odd choice of a national animal for Russia. There is, of course, the usual brown bear, but I suggest the cheburashka:

Hong Kong before the turnover to the Chinese with a touch of the rest of the "Asian Tigers" is the best I can put it.
Very open market without having barons; libertarian; and with a major focus on education.
