New Nation Looking for some Pointers
Greetings from the Holy Empire of Agnostiks! Because my nation is young and fragile, i was wondering if I could get some pointers on how to play this game and help my nation thrive. I know nothing about trade, war, the UN, or any common unspoken laws that people abide by here. I would also like to belong to a smaller region, bcause i would rather be known in a community. I would appreciate any help or suggeststions. thanks.

you are a new left wing nation so why not join the Allied States of Euroislanders. As a whole the community is very helpful and kind andwill help with most problems you have.

There are basically two ways to play this game, literally and Role Play. The first makes use of the game mechanics itself to attack and take over regions. The second has an unlimited potential however the game mechanics play very little into how you play beyond tracking basic statistics about your nation and collecting like minded nations together.
If you wish to play the game literally and perform attacks (called region crashing) I would suggest taking a look at this thread to inform yourself of the rules of that style of play.

I would then contact a nation that is in a region crashing group as it requires a number of nations to do so. Alternatively you can join an anti-region crashing group to defend regions against crashers. If you need a list of nations to contact please re-post here and ask for some names. People will help you.
If you would like to role play I would say the best place to start out would be to enroll yourself in Role-Play University.
http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/-1/page=display_region/region=role_play_university
There they can point out some fine points about role playing and teach you the ettiquite required to successfully role play. I would strongly suggest not role playing until you have done this as you may make instant enemies of people that you would rather not make enemies of. If you would like to start anyway at least read the following topic before posting.

My Top Tips
Read every single sticky
And watch the foruma for about a week or so, just watch the good debates, a good R.P and how to respond to a question
Make sure you follow the R.P stickies and only post R.P in the Internation Incidents and NationStates forums
Don't ask questions that are answered in sitckies
Don't try and help if you have no idea what people are talking about
Good Luck and Have fun!!!

You can also make a lot of puppets, try to build a region, or join an existing region (like mine  :P )and try to rise high in it, or be active on its boards.
Up until recently I was just a harmless player who stashed puppets everywhere and tried to build up my region myself. (I've helped defend two regions so far, and should probably invade somewhere soon to balance things out.)
I also engage in writing rants while trying to make them sound loical, and some people love arguing politics in General.
Jennifer Government the forum is a nice little forum if you've actually read the books.
Bascially there are many ways to have fun.
Aother one is popping into regions where there is a boot-happy delegate or founder active, posting a message rationally picking apart their arguements, and popping out.
But I could go on and on, and being half asleep that ain't a good idea.
We at the Holy Empire of Agnostiks would like to thank you all for your help. Now we have a better understanding of the game, and national identity.
Thanks

'Welcome. :P
And sorry that I was so incoherent. I was rather tired. At least you had EM and SK talking rationally.
