I would consider the Andromeda Alliance region, I'm the founder of it. There are currently four other nations in here. Your welcome to join if you feel like it. We will protect you until your big enough to fend for yourself.

I'd second the recommendation of Alliance of Socialist States - they were griefed recently, but pretty much back to normal - or The Proletariat Coalition, both are allies of ours.
Urbanites (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_region/region=urbanites) is left-leaning but mixed, we're quite tolerant.

I would highly recommend The Proletariat Coalition, or any of the other aforementioned regions, the AoSS, or Urbanites.

the region of Sid Vicious is an anarchic region, however their are good debates about socialism ... if you're interested.
