War RP Godmod Invention

Hello,

I'm completely new to roleplaying and I have some questions about roleplaying war on nationstates. If there is a thread for beginners I couldn't find it and would be glad if someone could point out where things like the follwing is dealt with.

I think I understood what godmodding is to a certain extent. If I understood right, I can't have a state of the art fighter airplane being a 6 million inhabitants nation. First I have to develop or buy it. This brings up my first questions:

Okay, the buying (store fronts?) depends on how much money I've got, which again depends on how many people live in my nation and what my economy is like. (Please correct my if I'm wrong.)

But the Invention, how do they work? If I can't have invented a cutting edge fighter airplane yet, what can I have invented? I mean, I don't have to invent the wheel again to invent railways to invent the conveyor belt, to invent the automobile ....... to invent a cutting edge fighter airplane. So, where can I start? Is it a time? let's say my army can have everything from the time of WWII. Or is it rather a state of development? For example, assumed my country's economy relied mostly on agriculture etc. and looked like a medieval society, could I then have only weapons used from this time?

What happens if I lost a war? Assumed I lost all my military in this war, do I have to start from te scratch and build a new army? Or would a second war be a completely new story where nothing of what happened in the first war would matter?

Aren't there always questions one could ask the opponent to show he is godmodding to a certain extent as we all don't have the possibilities a real nation has?
We simply can't take everything into account that is necessary in a war, can we? That's why in reality thousands of people being responsible for a thousand different things are involved in a war. How do roleplays deal with that?

Please excuse my English. Any information on theses questions is very much appreciated.

Yes.

It all depends. You could, for instance, claim that a team of scientists in your nation have designed a new, cutting-edge fighter aircraft. But you won't be able to produce it. Your army will probably consist, to start with, of a handful of tanks, which, if you're lucky, are about a decade out-of-date, a few thousand poorly-equipped troops, and a few transport and scout aircraft.

What happens if I lost a war? Assumed I lost all my military in this war, do I have to start from te scratch and build a new army? Or would a second war be a completely new story where nothing of what happened in the first war would matter?

If you lose a war and lose your army, you will have to draft and train new soldiers, replace equipment, etc. If you decide to fight a second war, events that happened in War No.1 will affect that war, too.

Aren't there always questions one could ask the opponent to show he is godmodding to a certain extent as we all don't have the possibilities a real nation has?

Hrmm. Tough one. I'd say roleplays deal with it by, at least sometimes, being vague. You don't need to describe the entire procedure for fueling, arming, targeting, and firing a Harpoon missile when all you want to say is "The gunners, having finally managed to arm their missile, fire it at the enemy warship."

Please excuse my English. Any information on theses questions is very much appreciated.

No problem. Other people will probably provide more specific information.
It's good to see a polite and sensible newbie for once.

thank you, for this information.

Another Question: Where (id est what forum) can I post that I am developing something new? Or is it enough if I tell during a war that I have invented this and that by now?

(what means 'bump' in a thread?)

Hey Acheta, i like the sound of you. How about I upgrade your out of date tanks to T-72s/M1 Abrams for you?

Wow, that is awfully kind of you. My nation is gladly willing to accept your offer to upgrade my, let's say 20 out-of-date tanks to M1 Abrams and would like to express its deeply felt gratitude. Btw, do they come with a 120mm M256 Smooth Bore Cannon already?

Do you want anything for it or is it rather an act of 'we'd-like-to-get-you-started-at-all'?

Problem is that I'm not sure I can convince my people to sing your anthem. they already moan if I want them to sing our own. Besides my people are highly immusical.
