Tax rates drive me crazy!

Well, some right-wing nations (Damn capitalist pigs) have told me to lower my tax rate. Well, it's only 100%... But the question is: Why the #@ยค% is it not going down?

Let's say i get 2 issues. They are... let's say Budget time and Citizens struggle under unfair tax burden. I say to the Budget one the one "Give us a tax cut and people will buy things they need" and to the Tax burden one i say yeah, a big tax cut is needed. Next day, i come and see what has happened, and the answer is still: the average tax rate is 100%.

I have been trying to lower it, still trying to keep my economy out of basket case, for many months. If not otherwise possible, can mods drop my tax to 70% or something? Then i could lower it easily.

(new to this game but I think I semi-understand it)

Problem you have is you're spending too much money on your social structure and whatnot. You'll have to wait until issues you've already selected and have supported in favour of government sponsored programs.

I'm not sure, but I think if you remove these when they come up again, then your tax rate will lower.

It might take more than one issue to lower it.

With my nation, I find that giving them a tax cut when they get above 65% taxation lowers the rate by 5-8% overnight. But I have never let a nation go as far as 100%. Next time you get an issue that allows you to reduce government spending, pick that option, it will probably go down.

Yeah, it takes a while... I've had a few budget related issues the past few weeks that I've chosen the "cut taxes" option on, and I'm still at 100% myself. I guess I just keep trying!

The way the game works (as I understand it), the longer you have been in a position, especially an extreme one, (imploded/frightning economy, for example), the harder it gets to get out of it. If you have had 100% for a while, it will probably take quite a while for you to get back below 100%. I'll likely have 100% for the duration of my nation, I've had it so long there probably isn't anything I can do to change it.

Good idea.
I have been in this since the dictator government fell, and that was around 6-7 months ago...

But as silly as it sounds, our Social welfare is one of the best in the region.

That means, people get the money back from government anyway. That is like... Perfect Leninism?
