Will I ever get my forests back?

Being new to NS, I buggered my environment by allowing "limited" uranium mining. Seemed reasonable at the time. My environment immediately became a barren wasteland. Later I got the gold mining issue and chose #3, the protect the environment option, but still my environment is screwed.

Will I ever be able to get my precious rain forests back? I mean, will I get the uranium mining issue again? The gold mining issue again? Are there other issues I might eventually get that I can use to restore my environment?

You can, especially since you're new. The older a nation gets, the harder it is to move it to different categories. It may take a week or so, though. Just be very careful to help the environment at every possible opportunity.

Nah, cut down all the trees!

The Glorious Kingdom of Vrak is a massive, economically powerful nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape..

Vrak is ranked 1st in the region and 76th in the world for Largest Timber Woodchipping Industry.

I don't know how I can have such a great woodchipping industry with no trees in sight.

Quite simple: We know you've been stealing our trees. Tree smuggler  :P ;)

I'll be patient then.

By "The older a nation gets, the harder it is to move it to different categories," do you mean I should dismiss issues and wait until my pop grows so every decision I make doesn't have such drastic consequences? Except for the environment issues, I like where my nation is at.

Vrak, the reason you have a barren wasteland is because you cut down trees, not because you have no trees. In NS, barren wasteland means you're screwing you environment, not that you have no environment to screw.

Does this game even have "completely obliterated environment" built into it?

You never run out of trees, so turn your environment into a toxic dump. It's okay.

Well, I don't know exactly how the system works, but it's most likely one of these two things:
1) Population affects the effect each issue has on your nation. The higher the population, the lower the effect. (I think this one is less likely)
2) An extremely complicated set of variables, likely relating to how many issues you've answered some how, affects the effect of each issue on your nation. The longer you've been answering issues, the less of an effect they will have. (I consider this one the more likely)

Catholic Europe, what did you do initially to destroy your environment, and what did you do to get it back? About how long did it take?

Vrak, some of my puppets are toxic wastelands, which is fun sometimes. I just don't want my main nation to be a dump.

Naleth, that makes sense.

Don't worry. it will grow eventually.

Next time you get the mining issue, say NO. Your forests will grow back over night. It's really quite lovely to watch.

OOC: But my people also rank in the top 0.03 percent for healthiest. Cutting down trees is A.O.K.!

Basically, I did a lot of uranium mining.

I then stopped that and became enviromentally friendly and choose those options on issues.
