Democratic Socalist?
Several days ago, my nation reached the status of "Democratic Socialists". I know its not a big deal, but it got me thinking, would this be possible (in theory or in life). I have always been a fan of both theories for several reasons: Democracy-People choose you best represents them and their interests. Socialism-Wealth and others are shared so no one is better or worse, thus destroying greed (unless one leader screws it all up) I was also reading Noam Chomsky's "Understanding Power" and he talked a little about the combination of the two. Comments?

It is possible and the fact that nations have elected Communist Governments would indicate that a Socialist one is not unlikely.
A socialist government can be elected. There's nothing that says that it has to be pro-capitalist.

True. Also, a true democracy does not necessarily have to be capitalist either.
Anarchism is essentially democracy and socialism taken much further than most people consider. It rellies heavily on direct democracy.

Without leaders, people have to vote on issues themselves to have things done. They use direct democracy.

Actually I would say that Anarchism is closer to Republican ideals then most people consider. 'They that govern least, govern best' The Republicans you see are a freedom loving party. As long as you don't want to have an abortion, be a woman, black or a guy who likes guys.
