Come to Role Play University – we can help you make the most of your Nation States experience.

Learn everything from the basics of role-playing to advanced tactics and logistics taught by actual, real-life military personnel.

Q: What is Role Play University?

A: Role Play University is both a region and an off-site forum
( http://rpu.board.dk3.com/2/ )

Q: Do I have to join your region to take classes?

A: No. You can simply register at the off-site forum, and begin the classes right away.

Q: Who teaches at RPU?

A: We have a number of highly qualified teachers specializing in certain courses. For example, Nation States Moderator and UN expert Stephistan teaches our course on the United Nations. I teach a course on writing a strong RP story line and in RL I’m a professional writer. Two of our teachers have RL military experience. NEW COURSE: Orbital Mechanics by The Evil Overlord!

Q: Why are you doing this?

A: Each teacher at RPU has enjoyed the Nation States experience and knows that that experience is more enjoyable when others know what they are doing. Our goal is to improve everyone’s time on NS. No strings attached.

Another Milestone

The Act of War is an RP class at Role Play University - which pits a senior student against an experienced RPer in a limited scale conflict RP.

The first student to take this new class has finished (with honours, though he got most of his people killed).

Shouldn't this be in an RP-oriented forum?

It's an advert for a region. Which is what this forum is for.

Yes, but most of the activity in the RPU goes on it the forum, no?

Yes, but most of the activity in the RPU goes on it the forum, no?Doesn't make any difference. People can advertise their region's forums, websites, whatever really.

We've actually been through this debate, and have consensus from both founders of this fine forum and moderators that it should be here.

Thanks,

RPU is a place that teaches people how to play the game.. it's not actually an RP forum. No RP's take place on the forum. Or on the HQ board for the region. It is simply an education center. All RP help and instruction is given in a purely OOC manner.

You wouldn't be the first senior member of NS to sign up. You'd be most welcome.

Thankyou.

Hopefully, this will me to get into RP, which I believe is much harder for an old nation like myself compared to a new one.

RPU is pleased to announce that Qaaolchoura has accepted an invitation to visit Role Play University as a guest lecturer on topics relating to GamePlay and the roles of Regions.

It should be an exciting opportunity to learn, debate and question these vast areas of Nation States.

What exactly will Qaaolchoura be discussing? All of the region, inter-regional relations, the main regions etc?

Now that part ! is up, it's going to take me a while to put the others up. I am by nature the type of person who rarely finishes what I start. Let us hope that I can get the part on crashing up soon. That should be easier for me, as it will be primarily links.

Said student had no idea that the fact that he got his team mostly killed off was going to be publicized, however he is grateful for the kind words!

Unpaid Student Testimonial:

I stumbled across RPU after having been in NS for a couple of days. I was ready to quit the game at that point. The welcome I received, the support I have been offered, the education that has been shared with me has been nothing short of remarkable. From Stephistan's brilliant and challenging UN course, to Wolfish's guidance in RP which culminated in the thread above, to Qaaolchoura's insights on Gameplay, every bit of study has offered another challenge and another appreciation for NationStates.
I urge anyone reading this, from wise old hand to wet-behind-the-ears new nation, to seriously consider checking out what RPU has to offer. You won't regret it!

(This has been an unpaid student testimonial)

I’m going to take a brief moment to rant.

Recently I have been involved in two very different roleplays.

The first has been carefully orchestrated and has a wonderfully open plot. There are no arguments, nor are there episodes of godmodding or other poor RP manners.

The second is a disaster. I joined primarily to defend a new nation that was being bullied by a group of larger nations. It was a nightmare – there was no enjoyment for anyone involved. It was the kind of RP that makes people what to give up RPing.

If you’d prefer to RP like the first example – come by Role Play University to brush up your skills.

If you want to RP like the second – please stay away from me.

Cheers,
W.

Well - after the as* whooping Hatchibombitar got in the course "The Act of War" it was no surprise that it took some time before the next brave student would step forward.

But one has.

Bun-Bun the Miny Loop (BBTML).

The Act of War forces student to battle Wolfish in an all out RP.

Follow the link, and see the action.
