Because of my rank I may as well start the second "real conflict thread in gameplay" with the announcement that on December 29 the region of Brazil officially became known as the Occupied Territory of Brazil. To the natives we apologize for the inconvenience.

Here is a press release that was already sent to NetWorkRadio, SeattleNews, and Associated Press.
Brazil
On December 29th forces of the Atlantic Alliance successfully occupied the region of Brazil by gaining the delegacy. The purpose being to draw those against the Alliance into a pitched battle. The natives will be left in peace; our quarrel is not with them. We apologize for the necessity of this action and will withdraw as soon as our primary objectives have been completed.

The nation of novus populus conquered Brazil wearing the flag designating his rank as Field Commander of the Atlantic Alliance.

The next morning that flag was changed as the ancient flag of the Atlantic was flown over another region for the first time in ages.

If nothing else this will be a fun exercise.

Was that the GLA you just ousted?

Yes, Pope, it was. :sigh:

I did give them credit for the way they attacked. Like I said in the region, most people who attack a region at 5 to seven o'clock in the evening would be considered idiots, but in my experience the GLA somehow have an interesting way of doing that yet somehow pulling it off despite. It's like when they do that they invade through your blind spot in a way. Ah, I'm rambling. Happy New Years!

Why is bad to invade just before the update? :?

Any Happy belated New Years' as well.

Because that's when any good invader delegate will be most active, kicking anyone with more than one endorsement out of the region.

Am I wrong, but I thought there was a region called GLA that got invaded...?

GLA was raided over Christmas.

Yes, but there's an edge to doing it that way (the invader actually posted this on the regional HQ, and I must say you must know who you're dealing with, because it can work brilliantly as well as fail miserably).

Basically, if you jump into a region soon enough, the invader delegate might feel safe, hours away from update. He'll tend to postpone the boot-fest, thinking it more sweet to make the antis think they even have a chance, only to boot them seconds before update. Of course, the invader delegate also tends to forget this, or to miss update altogether because of RL reasons. So the antis take control of the region because the invader felt too secure and wanted to toy with his opponents.

Oh, and what are you talking about, GLA region being raided over christmas? I've parked my nation there over the last 2 months and nothing of the kind has happened.

Exactly what I had said, Bardai.

In a past life by another name I have fallen for that trick. Hook. Line. And sinker.

I try to know my stuff. ;)

It was a raid. Those people who raided GLA were there for maybe twenty minutes at most, just long enough to become delegate and change the factbook before leaving. Those... people.

In keeping with current events, Brazil has been passworded for the next day or so and all new arrivals will be fingerprinted.

[OOC: Last night I just wanted to get to sleep so I set up the password an hour early and slept till 1pm, and I didn't feel like taking it off today]
