NationStates Jolt Archive

In response to popular demand (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=100826), this new forum has been created in order to provide a place for players to discuss "in-game" matters -- without requiring role-playing. A bit of a gap has opened up between players who engage in highly involved role-playing in the forums and those who don't; until now, the latter haven't really had anywhere to chat about gameplay.

Very good idea, [violet]. Hopefully this can be successful for people discussing the gameplay and concept of roleplay, therefore everyone can learn how to roleplay, and how to play it good :D

I'd like it to be enforced as well, but from talking to the people that I have, I doubt it will be because it's "too big of a task".

You might want to change the description of the NS forum, if you haven't already.

I am not sure the policy will change as a result of this. This is a place for inter-regional NS World politics and assorted non-RP game stuff, but I doubt it will have any effect on the everyday OOC comments you get.

Agreed, and not even mods, just players a few select players that are respected role players that are backed by admin that enforce role play. (My idea that I emailed to violet but got no response) :(

Gameplay = OOC stuff I thinks. That's what the thread was asking for, a place to talk about OOC game matters (like region adds, crashing, the NS Bunny type stuff, ect).

The forum category descriptions have been updated. The idea is that "Gameplay" is for loosely-RPed or OOC talk about how you play NationStates... but really, we'll just see how discussion evolves. The forum categories generally try to fit in with what people want to talk about; they don't prescribe it. :)

True, one of the flaws is if someone decides not to listen to the select few, moderation would be clogged with "<name> isn't listening to me" threads.

Hmm, still confused a bit now. So we come here to discuss about how people play NationStates both the "regular" way (doesn't involve RP/In Character stuff: UN rankings, regions, etc) and the "Roleplay" way (How to make war, etc)?

Yes, guidance would be apart of enforcement. What I'm talking about is keeping nonsense threads out of I.I and NS. Non-RP related threads in an RP forum have no place.

I think this forum is a good idea, and I like idea of RP enforcement, but am curious as to what that would entail.

Ok as I think there are people here who will listen;

I am new here, (10 days real time), and this is my first RP site, I would recommend the following labels,

RP - You are the head of the government that you came to the UN as, therefore you would normally address yourself as we, or, our government.

OOC - You are Joe Bloggs and say I think this stinks coz i wanna use my....

If I am incorrect I ask for others more into RP to correct me, perhaps though if I am correct such labels could be applied to each forum to clarify the requirements?

Just a point though. You plan on allowing loose-rp in here? I dont mean to criticise but, if that the case, I can see this forum going the way of NS ie, intended for more than RP but ultimtely becoming dominated by it.
The original intention was as I understood it, to have a place to discuss the mechanincal aspects of NS gameplay ie: where you manipulate the mechanics to amuse your dself(invading/puppets/what have you) rather than the almost purely imaginary roleplaying side.
I hesitate to suggest this, but the forum may be more appropriate to nuts and bolts. That is, if you agree with what the people who suggested and discussed the forum had intended it to be.
note: I do understand what you meant by people discussing what they want, rather than being prescribed, but there are boundaries every where else.

Again, I dont criticise out of mean spiritness, it is just that rp has two forums for a reason, there are a lot of them, who by neccecity post frequently and I can see the relatively smaller number of "Gameplayers", who post in a lesser volume being drowned out.

Not the concept of roleplay. :evil:

The reson that it got so much support is because you RPers took over NationStates. Now you have 2 RP forums all to yourself, and you can use one of those for RP concepts and recruiting.

Eh, whatever the semantics and details, for now I would just like to add my "thank you." Obviously as we've seen lately, this has already turned into a popular place for invaders and defenders.

The RP forums always get a bit too nuts for me, so I RP on the Nasicournia forum. This, however, is a great place for the in-betweeners to meet. Not Generalites and not RPers...Inbetweeners. :wink:
