Our beloved mod Tactical Grace has decided to step down as Game Moderator, returning to the unwashed masses as a player. (Not that you're unwashed. I'm talking about some of those other players. You know the ones I mean.) TG has been an excellent mod for a long time, but has decided to hang up his stomping boots.

Please join me in thanking TG for his excellent service to NationStates! Great job, TG.

Hello people. The time has come for me to say, more or less, goodbye. I will try not to sound too sentimental, but inevitably I will...

I began to play this game on 5 July 2003, as the nation Arkanarsk, creating a forum puppet Tactical Grace three days later, to lead entirely separate lives. I have been part of the Mercian Regions' ruling elite ever since. I have seen a great many good players come and go, and have taken part in a long and continuous history of political intrigues, spying, invasion, defence, manipulation of mercenaries, military consultancy, the lot. It is amazing how far back my memory stretches, and it is difficult to understand how it has only been 1 1/2 years. Along the way I have done everything there is to do in this game. Literally so. Even passing a UN Resolution and spending over a year on the staff. The only thing that comes to mind, is getting an issue passed, but none of mine ever made it. Ah well. I wrote chunks of a few others that did.

The point is, I have got everything I could have got out of this game. Fun, friends, and some lasting contributions to the game itself. And, whether eventually anyone will remain who will know the history of the Mercian Regions, I will remember that it did happen.

I am proud of the Mercias, its residents past and present, and the lives we have lived here.

I will keep Arkanarsk here in holiday mode as a keepsake. Tactical Grace will wander around and probably end up in an ADN HQ region. My other puppets are already dead. Any real role I play here, is over.

While it is our loss in that an experienced mod is moving on, I hope that TG will remain in the game a player.

I'm still remembering the close debate on the Universal Freedom of Choice resolution back in March 2004 (9,314 to 8,213). What I remember most about the resolution and debate was how polite TG was to everybody (both sides) and also how TG pointed out that sometimes a fun debate is a close one. That resolution certainly stimulated the UN.

Well, I never knew you TG personallly, but I admired your work: reasonable, careful, and if I can put it like this, "professional". From all I've seen, NationStates benefitted from your work as moderator and will suffer from your absence. And, it looks to me like you'll be missed.

Jeez, they're dropping like flies. This leads me to think that either Katganistan and UP were made mods with Steph and TG's retirements in mind, or that they're going to get some new mods soon.

There seems to be some sort of a virus going about... Specifically for mods only... Who knows what could happen next...

I for one am sad to see TG go. He was one of the better Mods in terms of personality and professionality, IMO. You will be missed, Tactical Grace.

Congratulations on your readmittance to the rabble. And don't worry if it smells of brimstone down here. Flames smell different when you're not the one dousing them.

Sorry to see you quit the mod job. But hopefully, you'll post a little in General and raise the standards.
