Yes! Yes! It's the Game Moderator Olympics!!

[violet]

Has it really been so long? It seems like only a few weeks ago that our game moderators were leaping, sprinting, jumping, and tossing for your entertainment. Well, here they are again, because it's time for...

The GAME MODERATOR OLYMPICS VI!

(It might actually not be VI. It could be V, or even IV. I'm guessing here. Here's the thread for last time (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=328216), anyway.)

This is where we review what our game mods have been up to since mid-May: who's been deleting nations, who's issuing warnings, who's ejecting UN rules violators, and much much more. It's the culmination of five months of work... so without further ado... let the Games begin!

As is traditional (since last time), we open with the "United Nations" events. Last Olympics, Reploid Productions came out of this stage in the lead, with strong performances by Cogitation and Scolopendra. And, of course, Enodia had a lock on the "UN Proposals removed" category. But this time around, things could be very different.

So let's find out: Who's been sniffing out the UN cheats? Who's been booting out offenders? Who keeps the UN Proposal list clean and who sends out warnings?

--- UN Cheat Checks ---
1226 : Scolopendra
1060 : Reploid Productions
948 : Melkor Unchained
897 : Sirocco
885 : Cogitation
271 : The Most Glorious Hack
105 : SalusaSecondus
73 : Karmabaijan
45 : Stephistan
42 : The SLAGLands
35 : Menelmacar
22 : Ineptia
21 : [violet]
4 : GMC Military Arms

--- UN Ejections ---
556 : Scolopendra
484 : Sirocco
230 : Melkor Unchained
216 : Reploid Productions
212 : Cogitation
101 : The Most Glorious Hack
21 : GMC Military Arms
21 : SalusaSecondus
20 : Stephistan
14 : Karmabaijan
10 : The SLAGLands
6 : Menelmacar
2 : Ineptia
2 : [violet]

--- UN Proposals Removed ---
378 : Cogitation
329 : Sirocco
225 : GMC Military Arms
145 : The Most Glorious Hack
46 : Scolopendra
18 : Menelmacar
5 : Stephistan
4 : Reploid Productions
2 : Karmabaijan

--- UN Warnings Issued ---
171 : Sirocco
55 : Cogitation
34 : The Most Glorious Hack
19 : Scolopendra
11 : SalusaSecondus
8 : Melkor Unchained
5 : [violet]
4 : Stephistan
2 : Karmabaijan

Scolopendra: 2 gold
Sirocco: 1 gold, 2 silver
Cogitation: 1 gold, 1 silver
Reploid Productions: 1 silver
Melkor Unchained: 2 bronze
GMC Military Arms: 1 bronze
The Most Glorious Hack: 1 bronze

Scolo bursts out of the blocks, but Sirocco picks up medals in three out of four events -- including gold in the brand new "UN Warnings Issued" event. Cogitation steps into Enodia's traditional event, scooping up the gold, and collects a silver to go with it. Cog has been a highly consistent performer in the past... is this his Olympics??

Now for the always popular "Life and Death" events...

--- Nations Deleted ---
833 : Scolopendra
492 : Sirocco
311 : Cogitation
256 : The Most Glorious Hack
177 : Reploid Productions
173 : Melkor Unchained
135 : Stephistan
93 : GMC Military Arms
37 : Karmabaijan
33 : SalusaSecondus
17 : The SLAGLands
6 : [violet]
3 : Ineptia

--- Nations Restored ---
950 : Sirocco
685 : Scolopendra
385 : Ineptia
376 : Melkor Unchained
197 : The Most Glorious Hack
134 : Cogitation
105 : GMC Military Arms
66 : Reploid Productions
58 : Karmabaijan
48 : Stephistan
46 : [violet]
22 : SalusaSecondus
22 : Menelmacar
15 : The SLAGLands

Last Olympics, Stephistan pwned the "Nations Deleted" event and Scolo pipped Reploid Productions as the Giver of Life. But now it's an arm-wrestle between Scolopendra and Sirocco, with each taking a gold and a silver.

Melkor is unlucky to miss a medal here -- just 9 restorations behind Ineptia.

Let's check the leaderboard:

Scolopendra: 3 gold, 1 silver
Sirocco: 2 gold, 3 silver
Cogitation: 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze
Reploid Productions: 1 silver
Melkor Unchained: 2 bronze
GMC Military Arms: 1 bronze
The Most Glorious Hack: 1 bronze
Ineptia: 1 bronze

Now onto a few "all-rounder" events...

--- Issues Accepted ---
29 : Sirocco
2 : Melkor Unchained
1 : Reploid Productions

--- Telegrams Sent ---
890 : Sirocco
759 : Scolopendra
412 : Cogitation
328 : The Most Glorious Hack
314 : Melkor Unchained
210 : GMC Military Arms
104 : Reploid Productions
64 : Stephistan
47 : SalusaSecondus
41 : Karmabaijan
27 : Ineptia
14 : The SLAGLands
12 : [violet]
5 : Menelmacar

--- Warnings Issued ---
1260 : Scolopendra
993 : Sirocco
624 : Cogitation
502 : Melkor Unchained
420 : The Most Glorious Hack
415 : Reploid Productions
219 : GMC Military Arms
75 : SalusaSecondus
38 : Karmabaijan
32 : Stephistan
16 : The SLAGLands
11 : Ineptia
8 : Menelmacar
7 : [violet]

Sirocco claims the Issues Accepted event, as expected, but tops the Telegrams Sent list for the first time, too, and snares a silver for Warnings Issued. It looks like Scolo and Sirocco are pulling away from the pack!

Cogitation grabs two more bronzes, confirming his status as a proven all-round competitor. Also notable are strong performances from Melkor and Hack, despite neither getting their fingers on a medal in the last two events. Reppy is up there with them, but doesn't seem to quite have the raw power she's showed in previous Olympics... perhaps she's carrying an injury?

Sirocco: 4 gold, 4 silver
Scolopendra: 4 gold, 2 silver
Cogitation: 1 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze
Reploid Productions: 1 silver, 1 bronze
Melkor Unchained: 1 silver, 2 bronze
GMC Military Arms: 1 bronze
The Most Glorious Hack: 1 bronze
Ineptia: 1 bronze

A stunning result -- looks like this is turning into a two-horse race. But as we enter the stage of Help Requests events, which nag will have the staying power?

--- Tasks Dealt With ---
3335 : Sirocco
2608 : Scolopendra
627 : Melkor Unchained
456 : The Most Glorious Hack
392 : Reploid Productions
360 : Cogitation
300 : Ineptia
234 : GMC Military Arms
192 : Karmabaijan
127 : Stephistan
90 : SalusaSecondus
25 : [violet]
14 : The SLAGLands
10 : Menelmacar

--- Tasks Resolved ---
1648 : Scolopendra
1098 : Sirocco
410 : Melkor Unchained
300 : The Most Glorious Hack
290 : Ineptia
195 : Reploid Productions
189 : Cogitation
133 : Karmabaijan
131 : GMC Military Arms
57 : Stephistan
37 : SalusaSecondus
19 : [violet]
12 : The SLAGLands
10 : Menelmacar

Unbelievable! Once again, Sirocco and Scolopendra take a gold and silver each! With just ONE EVENT remaining, they're locked on 5 gold medals each!

A strong showing from Melkor in both events confirms that he's back on the scene in a big way, too. He nudges ahead of Reppy to move into fourth spot on the leaderboard behind Cogitation.

Sirocco: 5 gold, 5 silver
Scolopendra: 5 gold, 3 silver
Cogitation: 1 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze
Melkor Unchained: 1 silver, 4 bronze
Reploid Productions: 1 silver, 1 bronze
GMC Military Arms: 1 bronze
The Most Glorious Hack: 1 bronze
Ineptia: 1 bronze

A hush falls over the crowd... this is it... the final event...

881 : Karmabaijan
852 : Ineptia
551 : [violet]
345 : Menelmacar
298 : The SLAGLands

And there it is! Sirocco, who last Olympics pipped Cogitation for third spot, comes home with an incredible 6 gold medals!

Sirocco: 6 gold, 5 silver (last time: 2g 1s 1b)
Scolopendra: 5 gold, 4 silver (3g 4s 1b)
Cogitation: 1 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze (1g 1s 5b)
Melkor Unchained: 1 silver, 5 bronze (-)
Reploid Productions: 1 silver, 1 bronze (2g 4s 2b)
GMC Military Arms: 1 bronze (-)
The Most Glorious Hack: 1 bronze (-)
Ineptia: 1 bronze (-)

What an enthralling contest it was. And a performance like this can't go unrewarded. It's my pleasure to announce that Sirocco is hereby promoted to Senior Game Moderator, joining Reploid Productions and Scolopendra at the top of the hallowed GM ranks. Well-deserved.

Additionally, after long and outstanding service in the forums, Tactical Grace is promoted to Game Moderator... so watch out next Olympics, a new player will be on the scene!

Congratulations to all our hard-working mods! Combined, there were almost 70,000 moderator actions over the last five months -- and that's not even counting the incredible efforts they make in the forums. This place wouldn't work without them -- thank you mods!

Wow, I wonder what's been keeping Rep Prod so busy... In the other Olympics postings I've seen, she did a lot better.
Major congratulations for Sirocco!

That injury [violet] mentions...

College.

15 units (including an 8 hour Saturday class and a 2 hour night class) take a lot out of a person =p

Well, wow. I'm a senior GM now. Although admittedly I only used 171 UN warnings because I'd misunderstood what they were for. <_< >_>

Congrats TG! This has been a long while coming! :)

Pfft. Using the status of a Forum Moderator as an excuse for not performing any Game Moderator tasks. How convenient you were not authorized to perform any of those tasks in the first place! Lazy bum :p

If the Jolt system keeps track of forum actions like: threads locked, posts edited, posts deleted, threads deleted, users warned, users forum banned, threads archived... There'd be a whole new section of Mod Olympics, and hence medals for forum mods too! (unless the game mods beat the forum mods in all the new events :o ) I think most people have no idea how heavy the workload is for a forum mod on NS, so this could also help in getting players to appreciate all the work being done by the forum mods. If only they knew!

Whenever I forumban a nation I get a GM to add a warned tag to their nation to make note of it. It would be a simple matter of searching for the warned tags with 'Forumbanned by Myrth' in :)
