RIP Francos Spain

Tonight, the Stabilizing Force of Francos Spain (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=francos_spain), former Delegate of the Pacific, will cease to exist. Francos was one of the most important players ever to play the game - although many, including myself, vehemently disagreed with his policies and In-Character persona, I cannot help but be saddened to see Francos's player called away due to personal tragedy and his nation lie 59 days inactive in the Rejected Realms. Truly, real life must take precedence over this, a mere game.

Thel Dran, a former Delegate of the North Pacific and no In-Character friend of Francos Spain, has suggested as a tribute that if you have a UN nation and it's not occupied on more pressing business, you send it to the Rejected Realms and endorse Francos Spain as a last gesture of respect. I have done so, even though I would have never endorsed Francos Spain in the past, and would urge others to do the same.

Francos Spain, klanza ay-anafkresarkh.

"Benevolent Francisco rules with his people at heart."

UN Category: Scandinavian Liberal Paradise
Civil Rights: Superb
Economy: Fair
Political Freedoms: Very Good

Location: the Rejected Realms
UN Member

The Stabilizing Force of Francos Spain is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 2.682 billion enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level social equality free of the usual accompanying government corruption.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of the Environment, Education, and Public Transport. The average income tax rate is 100%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The study of medicine is popular throughout Francos Spain, UFO sightings are listed daily in the morning news, tourists from around the world come to visit the country's famous rainforests, and the people elect the Supreme Court justices directly. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Francos Spain's national animal is the osprey, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Iberian coin.

Francos Spain is ranked 851st in the region and 54,448th in the world for Most Subsidized Industry.

Most Recent Government Activity: 59 days ago

A moment of silence will be observed in our nation, and our region, in memory of the loss of Francos Spain. I have moved my nation, TH, to The RR and endorsed him in respect.

Franco's Spain? Sounds like a fascist to me! Franco was a 1940s-1970s Spanish dictator. I may be mistaken, but that is where this name seems to come from. Therefore I do not care if this person ceases to exist.

we're not talking about the dictator, but about the nation in this game, who made quite a difference in this game.

*sigh*

Francos was fascist in-game, or In-Character (heck, that's why we tried to topple him), and such is his nation name. I very much doubt that he's fascist Out-Of-Character.

I too met Francos Spain, not the character but the man behind the Nation. To say I knew him would be an honor that I cannot claim as much as I would like to. I found Francos to be intelligent, witty, and lighthearted. Why Francos would be taken from us when so many more deserving are left here to stumble on without him is a mystery to me. Wherever Francos is I hope that he finds what he is looking for and that his spirit lives on even a little in those he touched.

I spent about a year on NS wishing he would leave the game, because his presence here affected me deeply. However, now that he actually has, I really wish he were back.

He was a brilliant player and the kind of person it was hard to know personally and not like. I'm among the huge number of people who disliked him impersonally, but I'm in the RR holding vigil tonight.

Thanks Loop! I put the flag on Warrior Thorin who is in the RR standing by his loyal emporer.

I'll always remember his wit as well. I'll also remember his patience with me. Somehow, he seemed to know that I was indeed interested in truth and eventually he led me to it. I hope his rest is peaceful. I shall never forget the player nor the nation.

Fransico Franco was a Falangist not a Fascist. National-Syndicalist Spain was brought to power with the help of Italian Fascist & Nazi German arms, however this does not make even the real world Franco a 'Fascist,' people use the term far too much without understanding it. No help at all from biased dictionaries making it a 'blanket term.' To most "Nazis are Fascists" any 20th century Dictatorship is "Fascist." "All Capitalism is Fascist" etc.

About Franco's Spain the nationstate, I under my first nation that I started at nationstates endorced him when he was delegate for The North Pacific, before Great Bight took over. We had some conversations and I will remember him well.

Franco's Spain can be brought back via Lazarus however, correct? This is likely to occur if as people have said earlier he was taken away due to personal matters real time.

Francos Spain was arguably the most famous nation to ever play the game. But more importantly than that, the man behind the nation was a good man. I didn't know him in real life, but I wish that I had. He was the type of person that you always looked forward to talking to.

He was my friend, and I miss him every day.

Well I once had a nation in the Pacific while he was delegate. I never spoke to him but I knew of him and the people who seemingly 'worshipped' him... one of the reasons I left said region, actually. I would have thought anyone who can inspire such admiration must have done something to deserve it.
But, you all speak of him like he's dead or something. Can't he just have his nation resurrected when he's done with his personal affairs?

I did sort of interact with him when i lived in the Pacific, i remember when he used to threaten to kick me out of the region if i didn't endorse him...good times...good times..... G-d I miss him!!!

Moderators can you resurrect his nation up for viewing forever in some sort of a retirement hall for great nations such as his?

If not then...

Although I was an in game opposition, it is sad that RL circumstances have to affect the game, and FS certainly had one of the most notable effects on gameplay of any single nation.

Today I heard that the nation of Francos Spain has ceased to be.
Although I'm merely a regional player and rarely active in NS I've always tried to keep up on interesting threads and nations. It is always sad to hear of a great nation's demise.
R.I.P. Francos Spain.
Thanks to FS and all of the other diverse nations for making NS interesting for me.

Well i believe he also created the first NS Civil war....during his reign you would either be for him or against him...I was for him.

I mean the guy was a great RPer both for just IC talk and IC Warfare... i just wish he didn't die the way he did...he deserved to die in the pacific. But at least he's happier now...i think =\
