It is my sad duty to report that the sometimes loved, often feared, always controversial Neutered Sputniks has decided to retire as Moderator.

Neut has been a Senior Game Mod on NationStates for about a year, and during that time he fought countless battles against spam, griefers, and other undesirable elements to keep the NS the place we know and love. He also introduced into NationStates lingo the famous term "DEAT", which will not be forgotten in a hurry.

It's always a shame to lose a good mod, and I hope the NS community will join with me in wishing Neut all the best and thanking him for his very significant contribution to the game.

A reasonable individual who gave a lot of time and effort into this site despite having a very busy real life.

He ruled us with an iron fist and occasionally a piece of string; my oldest nation looks considerable younger due to an extreme, but temporary, case of DEATing; and many players will carry the scars of being moderated for the rest of their NationStates lives. However, Mods take life and Mods give it back.

Neutered’s actions have always been reasonable even if their verbal envelopes looked like debt collectors final demands.

I hope you continue to be part of the NationStates world and I’m sure that at some time in the future the temptation to enter the halfway house of semi-retirement will be too much.

Whilst many of us grumbled and groaned, considering the traffic and the workload, we needed at least one psychotic robo-Mod to keep the game playable and you got the flack for being it.

Good luck Neut and we will miss you, even if for some people that is a masochistic impulse.

It's a sad day when Neutered Sputniks decides to retire. I remember being helped by Neut when Allied States of EuroIslanders, my region, was spammed repeatedly by a UN multi - Neut deleted the buggers and kept on deleting them til they stopped. I would say that we will miss him, and his interesting sense of humour.

While I got the feeling you didn't like me a whole lot for one reason or another, and even gave me a warning once (Though I deserved it), it's still sad to see a mod of your experience and professionalism leave. You're dark humor and strictness will be missed. Best of luck elsewhere.
