Game Mod Olympics II!
[violet]
11-03-2004, 08:26
Yes! It's time for the Game Mod Olympics, where our mods compete against each other for no discernible reward. But still, it's exciting!
Last time, if memory serves (because the forum search function sure doesn't), Reploid Productions won the most gold medals, with Neutered Sputniks in hot contention. This time, however, there's expected to be strong competition from the fresh young Game Mods. Experts are predicting a few changes on the podium!
Our Olympics opens with our two UN-related events:
--- Nations Ejected from UN ---
105 Sirocco
100 Reploid Productions
94 Cogitation
62 The Most Glorious Hack
31 Scolopendra
24 Enodia
2 Melkor Unchained
1 GMC Military Arms
Gold! Gold for Sirocco! Pipping Reploid Productions at the post, it's an upset in the first round!
--- UN Proposals Removed ---
155 Enodia
7 Scolopendra
2 The Most Glorious Hack
2 Cogitation
2 Sirocco
1 Stephistan
No surprises here, as Enodia creams the competition in his signature event.
Now for one of the most popular events, nicknamed the "Hardest Mod" competition:
--- Nations Deleted ---
380 Cogitation
170 The Most Glorious Hack
128 Sirocco
73 Reploid Productions
72 Scolopendra
72 GMC Military Arms
36 Menelmacar
22 Stephistan
14 Karmabaijan
12 Neutered Sputniks
9 Enodia
2 Melkor Unchained
1 [violet]
Another shock! Those who believed Cogitation was more thought than action are forced to eat their words, as he romps home for the gold. And yes, that's right, Neutered Sputniks finished outside the medals. Who'd have thunk it??
So after 3 events, let's check the medal tally:
Sirocco: 1 gold, 2 bronze
Cogitation: 1 gold, 2 bronze
Enodia: 1 gold
The Most Glorious Hack: 1 silver, 1 bronze
Reploid Productions: 1 silver
Scolopendra: 1 silver
The new Game Mods are certainly creating a splash! But can they keep up the pace? Enodia is off to a fine start, but the experienced pundits know he tends to peak early. By her own high standards, Reppy has started relatively slowly, but we know she has the goods to come home hard.
Time now for the "Daily Issues" events:
--- Issues Edited ---
6 Reploid Productions
3 Sirocco
--- Issues Processed ---
896 Sirocco
18 Reploid Productions
Reppy scores a couple of crucial medals, and Sirocco proves he's not afraid of a queue of three thousand player-submitted issues.
Now for the "Most Communicative Game Mod" award:
--- Telegrams Sent ---
177 Cogitation
161 Enodia
145 Sirocco
90 The Most Glorious Hack
53 Reploid Productions
18 Scolopendra
6 Karmabaijan
4 Melkor Unchained
3 GMC Military Arms
3 Ineptia
2 [violet]
1 Neutered Sputniks
1 Stephistan
It's a close one! All three medal winners cross the line within a few seconds of each other. But Cogitation snags the gold, which means our tally so far looks like this:
Sirocco: 2 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze
Cogitation: 2 gold, 2 bronze
Reploid Productions: 1 gold, 2 silver
Enodia: 1 gold, 1 silver
The Most Glorious Hack: 1 silver, 1 bronze
Scolopendra: 1 silver
Sirocco has won a medal in every event so far, which is an astonishing performance. But with the Task events coming up, can he hold off Reppy and Cogitation???
Let's find out:
--- Tasks Resolved ---
198 Cogitation
137 The Most Glorious Hack
126 Sirocco
83 Reploid Productions
58 Scolopendra
8 Enodia
7 Karmabaijan
5 Ineptia
4 Melkor Unchained
2 Stephistan
2 [violet]
Amazing work from Cogitation here, really knocking over those tasks.
--- Total Tasks Dealt With ---
414 Sirocco
338 Cogitation
227 The Most Glorious Hack
171 Reploid Productions
105 Scolopendra
17 Ineptia
11 Enodia
9 Karmabaijan
6 Melkor Unchained
3 stephistan
2 [violet]
Reppy finishes fourth in both events; a strong but unlucky performance. With Cogitation and Sirocco both scoring another gold each -- with just one event to go! -- they've opened up a crucial break on the rest of the field. Yes, it's a two horse race now, and it'll all come down to the final event!
But let's check that tally one last time:
Sirocco: 3 gold, 1 silver, 4 bronze
Cogitation: 3 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze
Reploid Productions: 1 gold, 2 silver
Enodia: 1 gold, 1 silver
The Most Glorious Hack: 2 silver, 2 bronze
Scolopendra: 1 silver
And here it is... the final event.
Sirocco and Cogitation limber up on the starting line, shooting each other hard glances.
And they're off!
--- Total Moderator Actions ---
4,846 Cogitation
3,064 Sirocco
1,820 Reploid Productions
1,776 The Most Glorious Hack
830 Enodia
733 Scolopendra
473 GMC Military Arms
308 Menelmacar
161 Neutered Sputniks
135 Karmabaijan
106 Stephistan
53 [violet]
37 Melkor Unchained
35 Ineptia
Cogitation! Cogitation crosses first!
An incredible contest, as Sirocco, despite winning a medal in every single category, is pipped at the final post by Cogitation. Hack puts in another great effort, and is unlucky to finish outside the medals.
The final result is:
Cogitation: 4 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze
Sirocco: 3 gold, 2 silver, 4 bronze
Reploid Productions: 1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze
Enodia: 1 gold, 1 silver
The Most Glorious Hack: 2 silver, 2 bronze
Scolopendra: 1 silver
A brilliant performance by these guys. But let's not forget the rest of our competitors, all of whom have done great things just to be here. Well done mods!

A new Mod Olympics at last.
Thankee [violet]!
Funny the mods I know best are the ones who handled the most getting help page reports and the most Mod actions total.
I told you guys that Sirocco should be a mod.
And Cog too, although that idea wasn't original.
I wonder if I annoyed them so much that that even the tedium of moddom was prefferable. :P
Neut really needs to get to work. Way down rom second in medals. Why, he's being pwned by the UN mod. ;)
And what happened to Sal's issue editing? Did he just quit?

I should comment on a couple of these.
A small number of the deletions recorded above were made in error and consequently reversed. The number is slightly inflated, but not by much. Additionally, the vast majority of nations deleted were the puppets of repeat rulebreakers. "Death and Caos" puppets alone account for at least 120 nations (and I'm still finding new ones).
The number of Tasks resolved is also slightly inflated as I marked as "Resolved" some tasks that were handled by other Moderators, but that I could easily tell for myself that no further action was needed by that Moderator (or by any Moderator). Thus, my lead over Hack is not necessarily as great as it seems.

Heh, I have four puppets that I'd ask him to do that for if I actually thought that he would.
They were founded on the same date but kept dying two at a time.
Finally I (accidently mind I wouldn't do it on purpose of course. :p) let them all die at the same time. Then I log into all of them eight day days ago, butoverlook one. It just died nineteen hours ago. Since these are some of my oldest puppets (my 4th-8th oldest in fact all though not oldest, due to their constant dying), I'd love to get the creation date back to the same for all of them. Thing is, I can't bring myself to kill the other ones from incativity in order to do so.
Does anyone besides me find it funny that "Ineptia" didn't get anything?
