Thanks for that - I forgot to TG them last night... silly me.
In actual fact, you could post your results at this time, and I'll post my results in the morning when I'm on - that's actually not unrealistic, given that group games are staggered between groups IRL. Though Polkaton should have played Zinkoland and Polkaton should have played Ravenspire... but we can keep that order.

The order is the usual: 1v2 and 3v4 on day one, 1v3 and 2v4 on day two, 1v4 and 2v3 on day three. We'll now have to assume the group A order is:

1. Ravenspire
2. Oddslavo
3. Zinkoland
4. Polkaton

All other groups are 1-2-3-4 based on rank order.
Every WC has a glitch, in any sport, here's ours out of the way nice and early.

Sadly this mornings hockey match was not as good as last nights football result against Kaze Progressa, only drawing against KP. TBF's goal came from a great penelty corner when Jack Symons hit the ball to Micheal Wheeler who slapped it into the bottom left hand corner of the goal. The match was intensly playedfrom then on, every team keeping posesion well but Kaze Progressa managed to strike back in the last 3 minutes when <a player> scored a fantastic goal making the score 1-1 at the end.

Hockey-players Become First National Team Not To Win First Game
First Of Two Important Sliponia Meetings Ends In Draw

A low-scoring draw opened the FHWC campaign for Cockbill Street today, as a 1-1 battle was fought out between them and Sliponia. Cockbill Street started out well, stealing many passes and counter-attacking quickly. One of these resulted in a goal early on, as Alicia Butcher intercepted a pass, then sent the ball forty metres down the left wing where Anna Martyn received it, and sent it straight back for Ian Hornby to smack it into the net. Ten minutes played of the game and already we had the lead. However, Sliponia pegged back only fourteen minutes later, as Lars Chesthacker failed to mark a Sliponian attacker properly and the ball was excellently struck into the top corner. 1 all, and the score remained so until the end of the second half. Still, there were many chances to both teams, but both goalkeepers had an excellent day of work and thus the score remained at 1-1.

Cockbill Street XI: Liam Andrews, Peter Harmison, Lars Chesthacker, Alan Hoggard, Steve Key, Alicia Butcher, Ian Hornby, Liz Ure, Anna Martyn, Olaf Axewielder, Cretaceous.

3. If the ball goes off at the sideline a free hit will be awarded to the opposite team that hit the ball off and being played from the point where the ball crossed the line.
4. If a player hits the stick of the player in possesion it is a free hit to the player in possesion of the ball.
5. If a player hits the ball wide of the goal then a corner will be awarded. 6. A corner is to be taken 2 yards up from the corner flag.
7. If the goalkeeper intentionally takes the ball out of play behind the goal a short corner is to be taken from 2 yards inside of the D.
8. If a player apart from the goalkeeper uses his feet to control the ball then a free hit is given.
9. If a player commits a foul in the D then a penlty flick is given against him.

BURINA SCREAMER SAVES HOME BLUSHES

Kaze Progressa's first match of the sixth Field Hockey World Cup, against the Belmore Family, almost ended in defeat before a late equaliser from Tarik Burina salvaged a point in a 1-1 draw. It is their first draw in the FHWC since, ironically enough, the last time they hosted the Cup, in FHWC2 when they drew 1-1 with the minnows of Time To Bomb Saddam. This was a result to which far less shame can be attached.

The opening exchanges were tense, the Progressans determined not to make a mistake in front of 19,000 fans in the Kaza World Cup Stadium which staged the final in FHWC2. Fine saves from Tyil Serit from pot-shots on the edge of the D kept the match scoreless until Puntil Juéaz needlessly conceded a penalty corner, impressively converted by Michael Wheeler to the right of Serit.

Stung into action, the Progressans stepped up a gear or two, creating slick passing moves that - much to the despair of the crowd - had a tendency to end with a save by the on-fire Belmorian goalkeeper, who saved three penalty corners, two short corners and a string of other shots. Even he, however, was helpless against the blazing run of Burina, who beat two players before a one-two with Henmazar Belikiz opened up space for him to slam the ball home from the edge of the D.

The Progressans remain in good shape to progress, with newcomers Emina the next opposition likely to concede three points - but with no second chances for finishing third in the group in the newly-shrunk competition, nothing less than a win will do against a side who were unfortunate to lose to Rejistania in Taqizerr earlier in the day.

From the Sikenian Daily:

Field Hockey team wins first match
The rejistanian field hockey international team has finally broken the spell: They won against unranked side Emina by a small 1-0. This is the first victory in a first match of a world cup if played outside Rejistania (they also defeated Spauldmerica in a first martch, but they had home-advantage there). Newcomer Jiri Salan archieved the first and only goal in this match. Xatri Y didn't start for the first time-ever. The score is only so low, because the Eminaians played totally defesive and didn't attack more often than twice in the whole match.

Vixens Return to Defend Title
Relaxed Start Yields 3-2 Win

Kaze Progressa -- The national field hockey team debuted a gentler style of play in the first match of the sixth Field Hockey World Cup, where they hope to repeat their title. The game nevertheless proved high-scoring, with the unknown Oddslav side posing a strong challenge to the Vixens' still-untested new strategies.

Oddslavo struck first as the Vixens apparently warmed up to the game -- field hockey is not widely played in Ravenspire, and the variant of the game practiced here employs different rules, most notably the ability to directly attack the opposing team with the stick (a foul in field hockey). The required shift in mindset coupled with the slightly less aggressive style of play allowed an Oddslav striker to score at 17 minutes.

The black and crimson finally grew more confident in their game, and rallied to equalize the score ten minutes later on a shot by Renata Mondain from just inside the box. A second goal late in the half eluded the Oddslav keeper to put the Vixens ahead 2-1.

The second half kicked off to a slower start; Ravenspire retained possession for the majority of the first fifteen minutes, but a tighter Oddslav defense denied them any more goals until Ruby Tyler, one of the few humans on the team, was awarded a penalty shot on a charging call. She successfully converted the goal, bringing the score to 3-1.

A late surge by the Oddslav strikers soon set the Vixens to defense, a relatively weak area for the team. They held together well against the initial assault, but the second wave succeeded in outpacing the defenders and scoring Oddslavo's second goal. The strikers attempted to maintain the push, hoping for a late goal and a draw, but the Vixens' midfield turned aside each advance until the clock ran out.

The slower style of play is believed to be a reaction to the previous World Cup, which resulted in two serious injuries among the starters.

Yet another low-scoring match sends Cockbill Street hopes to new low
Field hockey-ists right down to bottom

A boring and defensive match between Belmorian Scandinavia and Cockbill Street today means that hopes of qualification is at a minimum. Cockbill Street have to defeat Agnosticium in the last match and hope for a benevolent result in the other group match.

And it started out so well, too. A corner was awarded after four minutes to the Cockbill Street team, and it was well crossed to the far side of the D, where Lars Chesthacker tried to flick it into the top corner. Unfortunately for him, the ball ended up hitting the far post, without bothering the Belmorian keeper at all.

It was 0-0 until the middle of the second half, and the aforementioned chance was about the closest either team got to a goal. Both teams tried a defensive approach, and were exceedingly good at this. But a fatal mistake from Alan Hoggard decided the match. Hoggard tried a one-two combination with Steve Key, but passed the ball a second too early, and a Belmorian attacker grabbed the ball, dribbled past everyone including the keeper and sent it in. Belmorian Scandinavia 1-0 Cockbill Street.

With less than 20 minutes to go of the match, Cockbill Street desperately needed goals, and they tried to charge forward. It was with little luck, however, as Cockbill Street's players were very inept in front of goal. One would think that playing in a league with smaller goals increased this skill, but this appears not to be the case. They were also thwarted by the excellent Belmorian keeper, and the match ended with 1-0.

To finish second in the group and progress, Cockbill Street needs to defeat Agnosticium by at least two goals, and hope that Belmorian Scandinavia either makes a lower-score draw or loses its match. If Sliponia win by more than a goal, Cockbill Street need to win by one goal more than Sliponia or score three goals more than Sliponia - which seems tough given the strength of our attack at the moment.

Cockbill Street XI: Liam Andrews, Peter Harmison, Lars Chesthacker, Alan Hoggard, Steve Key, Alicia Butcher, Ian Hornby, Liz Ure, Anna Martyn, Olaf Axewielder, Cretaceous.

Rejistanha'ny draw in the Group-of-death
The Rejistanha'ny draw against The Belmore Family, who are ranked 6th in the world. The fast and aggresive match ended 3-3. Y'he played again from the beginning to the end and opened the scoring in the 2nd minute. The Belmorian keeper had no hopes to catch the ball. TBF aswered by furious attacks on the Rejistanha goal but untill the 13rd minute, Jiveb Hangatil'he could keep the score nil. After that, he wasn't lucky anymore: two chances in 5 minutes put the Rejis one goal behind. This didn't change until half-time. In the second half, Hsi'he proved, that he is the future of rejistanian field hockey: He outsmarted the Belmorians several times archieved the equalizer in the 45th minute and the lead in the 51st minute. Unfortunatly, Player'he equalized the score again two minutes before the end of the match.

This draw give the Rejistanians hope to qualify once again for the second round, since currently, no team in the group has a better record.

So Agnosticum, Belmorian Scandinavia, The Weegies and co-hosts Liverpool England are through.

Drama expected as TBF face off Emina in a must win match.

TBF have got the most important match to date as they have a must win match against Emina. The team will qualify were they to win by 2 goals ovet this less than great team. After a lackluster 3-3 draw with Rejistania this match becomes vital as TBF hope Emina will become one of the worst teams in history to clear the path for a 3rd successive past-group stage match.

Vixens Through
But Slip to Second on Late Loss

The Vixens secured a slot in the Field Hockey World Cup quarterfinals by defeating Zinkoland by a resounding 4-0. Though their style of play remained less aggressive than is traditional, the result was reminiscent of those previous tournaments. Many commentators attribute that partially to the weather, which was exceptionally cold and rainy; the Zinkoland side was apparently not used to playing under such conditions, while the Vixens found it similar to playing at their high-altitude stadium during the rainy season.

Yesterday's match against Polkaton boasted much nicer weather, and a much more even match. The two sides have met several times during the past World Cups. This time, Polkaton came out the winner, successfully scoring late in the match to tip what had been a 2-all draw since halftime to their favor. As a result, the Vixens finished second in their group and will face the Weegies' national team in the quarterfinal.

Rejistanha'na pass group stage
The Rejistanha'ny have archieved a draw in the hard-fought match against Kaze Progressa. Kaze Progressa and the Orange-Blues are the teams, that have qualified for the second round because the Belmore Family have lost the match against Emina. Hsi'he showed again his class by archieving the 1-0 in the 5th minute. But like in the last FHWC, the Progressans equalized just minutes after it. The match had good chances for both teams and Hangatil'he and progressan keeper Serit'he were often challenged. In the 43rd minute, it was Hangatil'he who could not get a fast ball by a progressan player. Rejistania was trailing 1-2. Just three minutes before the final whistle, Y'he could equalize the score once again.

The result:

I think you've given the Ravenspire-Polkaton goals the wrong way round. Still, neither have any effect on the order.)

Merry Christmas to all!

And because I'm not on long, a quick Progressa TeleSport update with Eitam Jurter:

http://members.fortunecity.com/timbrenttvmocks/prog2.jpg

EJ: ...in the Field Hockey World Cup, the Progressans have come through on top of their group after a dramatic late equaliser from Tarik Burina to draw 2-2 with Rejistania.

Burina, who also saved the day for the Progressans against The Belmore Family, scored this shot [video footage of goal 2] from just inside the D in the 57th minute. Earlier [video footage of goal 1] Henmazer Belikiz responded quickly to Hsi'he's fifth-minute opener with this goal on a three-on-one overlap. Y'he's second-half goal earned the Rejistanians the lead before the Burina equaliser.

With The Belmore Family sensationally losing to already-eliminated Emina, the Progressans top the group and ironically meet Belmorian Scandinavia in the quarter-finals.

Rejistanha'ny out again!
Again the Rejistanhany have failed to qualify for the quarterfinals. this time in an acceptable way. While the other losses is the round-of-16 were terrible trashings or close losses against teams, that the Orange-Blues defeatied highly in the group stage, this time, the Rejistanha'ny kept the score levelled until a goal in the extra time decided the Orange-Blue fate. In the 6th minute, Nina~e Desa~n archieved the lead in a penalty flick. The Orange-Blues dominated the first half, but were unable to extend their lead. Agnosticium improved their game as time passed. In the second half, they equalized in the 45th minute and challenged Hangatil several times later. But until the end of the second half, the score remained levelled. In the extra time, the rejistanian defense was sometimes too unorganised. that allowed the Agnosticiums to take the lead and win the game.

^^ bang go my hopes of reaching my first ever FHWC final - though I've never got past the round of 16 before, in the days of 24 teams :D

From the other semi-final:

Polkaton 1 - 2 The Weegies

The final: Agnosticum (2) v The Weegies (4) - played in CCL Hockey Arena (LE), generated by LE
3/4 PO: Kaze Progressa (7) v Polkaton (9) - played in Taqizerr (KP), generated by LE

OOC: I won't be on NS until New Year's Eve, and won't be able to do spreadsheet tasks until next weekend. Hence LE generating 3/4 PO and final.

(OOC: LE with a puppet here, sure thing.)

LE do you want me to generate one of them?

I'm fine, but if you want to go ahead and do the 3/4 PO.

THRILLING 3RD PLACE PLAY OFF IN LIVERPOOL ENGLAND

Last night the World was on the edge of their seats as co-hosts Kaze Progressa beat all the odds to take third place in the Field Hockey World Cup. Is seemed highly unlikly when <Polkaton player> scored an early goal after only 5 minutesto give Polkaton the lead but <KP player> striked back on the 55th minute with only 5 minutes to play, converting a short corner taking the match into a 20 minute extra time period. Polkaton had several attempts on goal with Kaze Progressa's goalie keeping them narrowly in the match. But all seemed to change when they came back out with some stunning end to end hockey but with it being good for KP scoring late on to take their first ever medal in the FHWC.
