Inspired by SLAG's Juke Charts thread (just giving credit where credit is due, by the way you should visit his thread as well... I think it's titled "Billco Co presents..."), I've decided to add a movie box office.

Haven't you went to see a movie and walked out shaking you head mumbling you can't believe you paid for that sh*t?

Of course you have. Now is your chance to ride the roller coaster and make the greatest movie hit at the box office. Here's how...

Special Effects: Describe the special effects in the movie if any? Some new revolutionary concept?
Director Who directed it? What did he do before? Was he successful or is he new in the business?
Running Time How long is your movie?
Rating/Content What rating did the movie shoot for? Include content description and it will be rated by me (or you could do it yourself but please tell me thats the final rating). Using the CARA guidelines.

The more you advertise it before it comes out the more sales you'll get opening day and the faster it'll fall should it not meet the audience's standards.

Well get cracking and submit your movie. (Box office Charts will be determined via dice roll matrix).

Lots of memorable one liners yet no remarkable dialog, plenty of exploding scorpions, and bowing to about every major request by the fans. Memorable scenes include a swarm of radscorpions barelling down a corridor, including the walls and ceilings. And of course the gratiuitous nudity and sex scenes. Not for arachnophobes or anyone seeking intellectually stimulating fare.

OOC: Nice to see one of my made-up actors is gaining international fame.

Anyway:

G- Family movies, think "Finding Nemo"
PG- Family movies with some content that parents might not want their kids to see, think the "Star Wars" set of trilogies
PG-13- For older children, with content that parents probaly would not want young kids to see. Think the most recent "James Bond" movies, like "Goldeneye," "The World is Not Enough," or "Die Another Day."
R- For adults only, think "The Matrix" and subsequent movies.
X- Pornography.

EDIT: I looked up British ratings (Partly to put here, and partly because of personal interest), and made a conversion table:

G=Uc and U
PG=PG
PG-13=12A and 12
(No American Equivilent)=15
R=18
X=R18

Movie Title: Bootsy's Eyes
Movie Genre: Drama/Art Film (and no, that does NOT mean porno)
Movie Summary: Based on a piece of short fiction by SLAGLandic author Misty Deeds, Bootsy's Eyes tells the story of Bootsy, the Bronson family cat. Bootsy has lived with the Bronson family since she was a kitten; at age 17, she realizes she is nearing the end of her life. Bootsy's story is told through a series of poignant observations and visions--about father Hal Bronson's alcoholism, about daughter Jane's nymphomania, about wife Doris's complacency, and about son Greg's growing tobacco addiction and inherent apathy.

Bootsy herself is no angel, however; throughout the course of the film, it becomes evident that she has turned sour in her old age. Bootsy has taken to drinking puddles of Hal's spilt beer, to incredible boredom and malaise, and even to lesbian fantasies about Jane and her "real comfortable tits." Bootsy's flaws, however, give us all the more interesting perspective on the traditional nuclear family in a film that only once--at the film's dramatic ending--leaves the confines of the home.

Bootsy's Eyes features several controversial scenes of domestic abuse and violence, as well as several graphic sexual scenes, the most bizarre and graphic of which involves Bootsy morphing into a human during one of her odd "visions" to engage in lesbian sex with Jane.
Cast:
Dana Stunt - Voice of Bootsy (Star of Willy-winning drama/comedy Diner Knights, for which she won Best Supporting Actress)
Larry Felicity - Hal Bronson (Star of several popular action films, including the war epic Midnight in the Glass Bowl. Most known for his roles as an action hero, Mr. Felicity is presented here with one of his most poignant and affecting roles to date.)
Tasha Silver - Janie Bronson (Appearing in her first headline role. Silver has appeared in supporting roles in several independent films and earned her breakout role in last year's Willy-winning short, Silver Street.)
Annette Benito - Doris Bronson (Appeared in supporting roles in Breadwinner and The Mutterer, both minor box-office successes.)
Phil Angiven - Greg Bronson (Debut role)
Esther Prince - Mailman
Todd Benson - Tom the Neighbour
Harriet Yellowstone - Phyllis the Neighbour
Betty Stowe - Voice of Grandma Flynn (Legendary actress, one of the premier stars of the silver screen in the early days of SLAGLandic film.)
Ginger Baker - Bootsy's Human Form
Budget: $8,000,000
Producer: Fogdog Films. Known best for their work in Diner Knights and Willy-award-winning made-for-TV movie The Griffining.
Special Effects: Special effects are minimal, aside from the bizarrely fleshed-out morphing of Bootsy into a human. Some fog machines, dry ice, and lighting effects here and there, but nothing too ostentatious, as the film typically doesn't require it.
Director: Raven Vinini. A collegiate film prodigy, Raven's breakout film came with last year's Silver Street. She is presenting her first full-length motion picture with a major company here.
Running Time: 1 hour 48 minutes
Rating/Content:
Violence - Several graphic scenes of abuse involving Jane and her father Hal, and one scene of abuse involving Hal and his wife.
Scenes of Drug Use - Alcoholism and tobacco use is frequent. One scene features Jane smoking marijuana.
Language - 48 minor swears, 11 uses of the f-word and derivatives.
Strong Language - One--Hal calls his daughter a "f---ing c--t" during one scene.
Gore - Some blood.
Drug Themes - Alcoholism and drug abuse are frequently present.
Sexual Themes - Jane's sexual promiscuity is another major theme. During one graphic scene, Hal rapes his wife.
Strong Sexual Content - One lesbian love scene involving Bootsy and Jane features bare breasts. Another rape scene features Hal's bare buttocks. No genitals are displayed, but the sexual imagery is nonetheless graphic.
Disturbing Themes - Drug use, domestic abuse, and death are frequent themes.
Hype: The movie's theme in advertising is minimalism. There is no dialogue, and several of the film's scenes are presented in a bizarre fog. During the title screen during the adverts, Bootsy's familiar voice says, "And then I knew I was feeling everything."
The actors, director, and musicians are also frequently interviewed. Expect to see some of these interviews soon.

And the first Chart is in. Some comments from analysts say.

"If you put enough money in the content and not in the advertising it'll pay off in the long run. Those who put in too much many into advertisement and not enough into content... people tend to find out... eventually."

"There is a huge untapped kiddie market. Theres way too many R rated movies out there. Parents have no choice but to take them to see some PG 13 movies."

Some viewers comment:

A young pre-teen exclaims, "You know what I like to see? Alternate endings in the theatre! And bloopers!"

Comment from Amergian Box Office: "DVD charts will be added as soon as your first movies exhaust themselves in the theatre and you decide to release the DVD/VHS of them. Good luck."

I credit that to the fact that it's a lot easier to write adult films, in no small part due to the fact that there's a lot of people here struggling for that zany thing called "maturity."

Just Amerigo... But it's an "international" Box Office, so none of the said films are considered "foreign". Frankly "foreign films" rarely get as much money as non-foreign.

Besides for the whole world you'd get a whole lot more money than that.

Attack of the Giant Squid!

Movie Genre: Monster movie

Movie Summary: From the Oglethorpian port of Sheffingham, sets out the world's largest cruise ship; the Prodigious, a 5-star liner trumped up to overcome any circumstances on the seas. Little do the passengers of the Prodigious know that the mythical beast "Calamaro Gigante" would strike their vessel...

What follows is a classic 1950s monster horror movie, the Prodigious (or, at least a small model of it) being thrashed about and torn up by the fearsome Giant Squid "Calamaro Gigante."

Luckily, guardian monster of the Oglethorpians; Jesuszilla awakens and treads to the city to do battle with Calamaro Gigante. The two combatants enter into an epic mortal struggle that cannot be described by words; to appriciate it you must make your way to your local movie theatre!

In the midst of the cutting edge special effects of "Attack of the Giant Squid!" are the two lovers Nathan Hawk (played by Tom Stroll) and Emma Goldstein (Nicole Childman) who attempt to escape the sinking Prodigious.

-- Bill Christmas, Bureaucratic Tribune reviewer

Cast:
Nathan Hawk -- Tom Stroll
Emma Goldstein -- Nicole Childman
Calamaro Gigante -- Joe Lally
Jesuszilla -- Phil Pinkett

Budget: 4 million Commutable Credits
Producer(s): Bureaucratic Pictures
Special Effects: The battle between Calamaro Gigante and Jesuszilla is played out through masterful use of stop-action filming methods and actors using monster suits to capture more detailed actions in the mortal struggle of the two monsters. Lightning effects enhance their battle with the sea around them perfectly mimicked by the modelmakers of Bureaucratic Pictures.
Director: Larry Lally
Running Time: 112 minutes
Rating/Content PG-13
Mild Violence
Mild Sexual Content
Pervasive Language
Hype: Movie commercials, posters in most major Oglethorpian cities; appearance of "Attack of the Giant Squid!" in theatres nationwide

---

OOC:

First off, great idea, Amerigo -- even if it is based off the Jukes.

Second, since i'm kinda tired of modern movies and all that junk; Oglethorpian movies are a few decades behind the times, and as such, you've got lots of classic car movies (Bullit) and old style monster movies, like King Kong since that entertains me more than movies nowdays.

So uh, be kind when you're rating my film just because it doesn't have special effects up to par with those found in the Matrix: Revolutions.

Movie Title*: Admiral Stromsveldt: Man, Institution, Symbol.
Movie Genre*: Docudrama
Movie Summary*: The flilm follovs the life of the well known Admiral Stromsveldt, his rapid advancement in the NDOTJ to become the youngest admiral in Tahar Joblissan history, his wedding on board the Mile Dirigible, his high profile role as commander of the Tahar Joblissan forces operating in and near Amerigo during the Amerigan War, and his subsequent rise to his position as the highest ranking unelected officer in Tahar Joblis, following a wave of resignations and arrests during a major corruption purge. The film also covers, although not in depth, the more recent portion of his life (and, naturally, the military actions of Tahar Joblis in recent years, as it is difficult to speak of his career without covering them.)
Cast: The film stars Cohen Bleakly - who starred in such films as Tramzilla: A dozen nights of Sensuous Pleasure, the controversial sex fiction film Lady Sirithil and the Tramp, and the tragic Blinky Goes to Town: A frog's life in the polluted waterways of Allanea - as a young Admiral Stromsveldt, neophyte Amerigan-born actress Cat Vitiello as a wife of his featured prominently in the film, Migel Norris, video course math teacher, as a middle aged Admiral Stromsveldt, and Admiral Stromsveldt as himself in several interviews.
Producer(s): The Tahar Joblissan Ministry of Foreign Relations, Amerigan Department
Special Effects: Effects are limited in nature, with the exception of several battle scenes; the grainy nature of many of the effects can be visible in the renderings of some air battles, although the footage of Tahar Joblissan ships and planes is extremely well done... and not computer generated.
Director Edward Ming Sun, who has previously produced such films as "Blinky the Octopus,"
Running Time 108 minutes.
Rating/Content With an eye towards the sensibilities of Amerigan children, the Ministry has carefully avoided including nudity and profanity in the Amerigan edition of the film; scenes involving drug use have been minimized in the Amerigan edition. However, the full uncut version is expected to become available under an adult or unrated label in video edition - explicit sex scenes, drug references, adult languages, and widespread nudity. The film is expected to have a short box office run and then move to video libraries, where Amerigan history teachers are expected to buy them in great quantities. Rare closeup high resolution shots of Tahar Joblissan ships may also prove to of interest to military analysts.

Special Effects: Crew and Cast Both had to climb the Gulps. No special effects, all scenes are taken from the crew filming the Gulps from the summit.

Running Time: 119 minutes 43 seconds
Rating/Content: Mild language

IC: Movie Title*: Legend Of Zelda: Cup Of Life
Movie Genre*: Adventure/Romance
Movie Summary*: Following Roania Pharmaceutical's forced buyout of Paramount Pictures and Nintendo in 2142, the new company embarked on an epic motion picture. It never got finished, until 2322, when CEO Bruno Von Klyne ordered a Zelda movie made. The movie follows what one reviewer described as standard LOZ fare, only with blood and skin. Actual plot details are thin on the ground, but what is known widely is that there is a scene where Link and Zelda finally... *ahem* express their love.
Cast: Link is played be Aenarion Venille, the star of the Roanian hit, Elfville Heights. Zelda is played by a complete unknown, Galadriel Entreri, who was found by RP agents to the sough of Alaitoc. Apparently, the producer had planned for Lady Sirithril or Nidien Sebridith to take the post, but no-one was going to go ask them. Ganondorf was played by the Director of the Paramount Picture RP Subsidary, Micheal Hinkel.
Budget*: Apparently, the GDP of a small African nation was put into this.
Producer(s): What production company produced it? What movies have they produced before?
Special Effects: In a country full of mages and Inquisitors, and high science, there were no 'special effects'
Director: Gerald Heimlech directed it, and did a good job. If he had done a poor job, he would have been executed.
Running Time: 200 minutes
Rating/Content: R for Language, Violence, Gore, Sexual Content, Terror (A rating of Terror means that various scenes made Inquisitors scream in fright)
Hype: Coming soon to theatres near you!

Special Effects: Includes the latest CGI effects from Cogitation
Director: Peta Jackoff. He has only directed low budget horror movies up to this point, but has proven to be a pasterful director.
Running Time: 170 minutes
Rating/Content: M (Violence, Supernatural Themes, Brief Nudity)

Movie Title: Revenge of the Jade Dragon
Movie Genre: Martial-Arts Wuxia Action
Movie Summary: The latest in the "Jade Dragon" series of martial-arts movies. When Aoi, called the Jade Dragon, champion of the Kitsuki Clan, is betrayed by the head of the powerful Akiyama Clan, who plans to marry Aoi's betrothed and seize control of Kitsuki, there is only one solution: a bloody one-woman rampage through the Akiyama capital, starting in the trackless forest, progressing through the streets of the city, and culminating in a duel atop Shiro Akiyama itself. (Loosely based on historical events.)

Cast: Aki Ayukawa reprises her role as Aoi Kitsuki, the Jade Dragon; introducing Kaoru Toyama as her betrothed, Miyuki; and Rika Kobayashi as Lady Chiriko Akiyama.
Budget: Approximately 18 million Ravenspire ploinks (~= $38 million US)
Director: Ritsuko Asano (The Jade Dragon Lives, Secret of the Jade Dragon, Crazy Like a Foxgirl, Ordinary Lives, Shaving Ockham, Discretion)
Producer(s): Eternal Flame Productions (a well-established studio that produces martial arts movies of all budget levels, plus the occasional "period drama")
Special Effects: No CGI. Most of the stuntwork was performed by the actors themselves, including all martial action sequences. Trick photography, cunning wirework, and skilled set design are responsible for the gravity-defying balletic fight scenes, including the running battle through the treetops and the climactic encounter on a steep, rain-slicked tile roof.

Running Time: 2 hrs 13 min. (plus outtakes)
Rating/Content: Ravenspire does not rate movies, but merely labels content. Revenge of the Jade Dragon contains strong violence, strong language, mild sexual content, and one extremely gory moment at the climax. (It also contains drug use, but this is not considered remarkable in Ravenspire, where most recreational drugs are legal.)

Hype: Just over 2 million ploinks was spent on advertising; the studio knows that it's got a built-in audience for the franchise, so it needs to spend a little bit to make that audience aware that it's out, and a bit more to hopefully pull in some new fans. A teaser commercial or two, a couple of promotional posters, and Aki Ayukawa's appearance on several talk shows pretty much does it.

Movie Title: The Dream Within

Movie Genre: Action/Drama/Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy

Movie Plot Summary:
In humanity, there are a few random members of society who have access to a new "world" all together when they go to sleep at night. They inhabit this world, and when they fall asleep in it, they awaken in the real world. However, when an evil man (Sid Kusky) discovers a way to force himself into the Realm, he begins killing people there. These murders have a horrifying result - Anyone killed in the "dream world" dies in real life as well. After his girlfriend (Anette Boosalis) mysteriously dies, a young police officer (Star - Dagr Ateunde) pays a visit to his grandmother (Alia Oleveda) who used to talk of such a place when he was younger. She tells him what she knows, but mysteriously dies the same way the next morning. Enraged, he enlists the help of an ageless physic (Trinity Cambronne) who transports him to and from the dream realm while watching over his body. In the dream world, he meets up with a girl from a far away place (Macie Hammet) who is after the same things he is, answers and vengeance. Eventually they learn that not only has the evil man been killing people in the dream world, he has been turning them into his army of dreams, attacking people from the real world in their minds with them. With the help of another freedom fighter (Leif Gadalavarov), he and the girl fight the army of dreams, but the third member of their group betrays them in real life. The evil man, who turns out to be the police chief, slaughters the physic as well as the hero's phyiscal body in the real world. With time running out, the hero kills the traitor and then makes his way towards the evil man, and in a huge climatic battle, he kills the evil man while avoiding temptation to give in to the army of darkness and kill the girl instead. Relieved, he accepts his fate in the dream world, shaping it however he likes it, but the girl says she must leave. Soon after, she returns with a horrified look on her face...the army of dreams has moved on to the real world...and left it in ruins!

Cast: Name - Popularity Level out of 20 - Brief Bio - Age
Dagr Ateunde - 19 - Popular Action star but does other intelligent movies - 25
Sid Kusky - 15 - Once the hottest thing around, he often plays a sophisticated older man - 58
Trinity Cambronne - 17 - An upcoming teen star, Trinity does a lot of horror - 18
Macie Hammet - 18 - A model turned singer turned actress, her looks are only rivaled by her abilities - 26
Alia Oleveda - 7 - Type-casted for always being the "best friend" in movies when she was younger, hasn't had a part in a while- 73
Anette Boosalis - 14 - A good blonde actress, although she often plays the "ditz" in her roles - 23
Leif Gadalavarov - 2 - In only his second movie, good looking Leif has quite a talent for action - 20

Budget*: 18.15 Million USD :!:

Producer(s): Monarch Productions Limited

Special Effects: The visual effects of the army of dreams were all made my highly advanced holograms so that the actors could really interact with them. Many other special effects were used, but most are taken for granted in the Empire nowadays with the introduction of holographic novels.

Director
Rolf Balcos - Famous director with a list of works too long for any post. Him and his brother Liger Balcos are the most famous movie directors of the present time.

Running Time 3 hours

Rating/Content
Brief nudity - When the girl returns battered and bloody, her thong panties are showing along with her left nipple. For effect of course...
Strong Language - The hero, the evil man, and the traitor continuously spout off. Only 10 Fuck's...but 45 others...
Strong Violence - The whole movie is violent, with murders and the war with the army of dreams
Gore - Blood is everywhere as well as guts, brains, and mutilitated humans. (Thing some Resident Evil, some Starship Troopers...different styles)
Sexual Content - The hero and the girl have sex, and while no crotch or anything is shown so that it wouldn't get a dreaded X rating, the implications are huge
Pervasive Language - Some jokes are made at the beginning but this fades as the plot becomes more serious
Disturbing Themes - disgusting murders, dream killings, dream zombies, real world-dream realm connections

Hype Labled as one of the best non-holographic interactive movies in the last decade. Non-holographic interactive movies are a dying art in Steel Butterfly.

Rating - R...nothing more...nothing less...

^^ LOL :D

Kaze Progressa's studios are busy, and here's their first international release.

Movie Title: Revenge of the Killer Sopranos
Movie Genre: B-movie spoof comedy
Movie Summary: A bunch of opera singers and Mariah Carey clones, angry at not getting their 50% pay rise and their Evian mineral water in the backstage area, take revenge by using their vocal 'talents' to wreak havoc on Las Vegas by breaking wine glasses and windows everywhere, with the police hot on their tail. Their chauffeurs are involved in the obligatory high-speed cop chases.
Budget: 31m kaks (US$14.7m)
Special effects: This is a B-movie spoof, therefore very few.
Director: Itasae Murritiko. A student of film studies and music at Farela University, she was a singer and pianist well-known in Kaze Progressa before her attempts to become popular in other nations foundered on the strength of support for Mariah-esque window-shattering singers. (Itasae was an alto reknowned in Kaze Progressa for her deep, sultry voice.) This is her directorial debut, a satirical attack on this dichtomy that higher is better.
Running Time: 74:23. Short and sweet, so more screenings for me. ;)
Rating: G (no, not the highest note sung in the film, though not a bad guess. That would be F#.)
Hype: It's scary... even with your eyes closed.
Additional comments: Features different voices for the singing and the acting in all but one of the female leads - Kata Macaga, scarily-high lead singer for Monaa, also an actress.

As Week's 1 charts are in... analysts have this to say.

"Now here we got a week of heavy-hitters that were highly anticipated by audiences everywhere. Ruthiestole the gold with an unprecedented box office total over 40 million dollars. That's even more than the total gross of the weekend's hit Sleepless in Sirrocco!

The bravado was stolen from The Dream Within which was a highly anticipated movie. But there was just too many families who saw Ruthie. Bootsy's Eyes still held on to its enormous sales and dropped the least on the charts, surpassing The Vampire King. Most ne releases were major successes this week and dominated the charts knocking the previous high grossing movies to and fro. All except dmiral Stromsveldt: Man, Institution, Symbol which unfortunately grossed even lower than that horrible Radscorpion movie that came out last weekend. The historical content was exquisite and the story moving, however audiences declared that they did not go to the movie theatre to learn. Another movie underdog Life, as it is, and will be, acclaimed to be a brilliant masterpiece went largely unrecognized by the audiences. Who knows what overturn will occur next weekend..."

Movie Title*: Ninth Arm
Movie Genre*: Psychadelic Action/Romance
Movie Summary*: Defying rational description, Ninth Arm is an unusual film. Fast paced and revolving around two weddings, a trio of teenagers coming of age, the demolition of a major international conspiracy based out of Iesus Christi, neutralizing an alien invasion, blowing things up, flashback scenes from the Amerigan and Allanean Wars by a pair of veterans, and some psychadelic dream sequences and transitions garuanteed to leave the audience feeling stoned. One wedding involves a simple couple of man and woman, and the other regards the wedding of two men and five women in a traditional Tahar Joblissan group marriage. The background music features several of the most popular Tahar Joblissan groups of the day, and the soundtrack was carefully designed and integrated into the film brilliantly by artistic composing and directing genius Jan Wilhelm.
Cast: Nearly the entire membership of the Taharasopolissa Metropolitan Opera Company, the Taharasopolissa Grinlow Martial Arts Competitive Club, and the Taharasopolissa Shakespearean Productions Company were involved in the production, along with star martial arts demonstrator Ming Sun III, action heroine Mack Zahn, porn star Lovitt Blue, and some lesser known acting talent.
Producer(s): LensEye productions, a major theater organization in Tahar Joblis, and one of few regularly involved in collaborating with foreign film companies.
Special Effects: At times it is difficult to tell what was filmed straight up and what was edited in; the editing team of LensEye productions appears to have no life whatsoever, and their daring cameramen, crews, and cast were willing to take great risks with an apparently unlimited budget.
Director: Jan Wilhelm, an experienced director of traditional space opera films and music videos, now beginning to branch out into other genres.
Running Time: 110 minutes brief edition - full version, probably only released on DVD release in Amerigo after the theater run rather than in movie theaters, runs all the way out to 170 minutes of film. (In Tahar Joblissan theaters, the full version was shown with the addition of a ten minute intermission.)
Rating/Content Frequent nudity, mature sexual content, and frequent action-style violence - not particularly gruesome in nature, but definitively present - mark this as a film for mature audiences.
Hype:

"After the film, you will not want to leave your seat," said director and composer Jan Wilhelm. "Subliminal messages? What are you talking about? It's a work... of art. Unusual, mind-altering art, yes, but that's simply because it was well done."

Movie Title: Heart of Glass
Movie Genre: Hard to define. While revolving around the relationships of an ordainary citizen, the movie also features high-brow political concepts and some violence.
Movie Summary: About what the SSC calls the "Very possible consequences of a cleanup of the Wastes", this movie is set some time in the future, after radiation-eating bacteria have removed the lethal radiation of the Obsidian Wastes.

Ryth keiLaran (played by Kyra ralTaengh) is a student at the Nova Reio Research Training Core whose boyfriend, Ghemal ralKurga (played by Yral keiSinar) joins an underground resistance group after the Eugenics and Cloning Research Corps decrees that their genetic combination is not good for the State.

Ghemal forces Ryth to keep quiet about his involvement with the rebels, making her complicit in his crime.

Eventually, Ryth does her duty to the state by denouncing Ghemal, who has become increasingly fanatical and bitter, to the SSC, and the rebels are overpowered and executed when they attempt to escape Nova Reio for the Wastes.

Cast: Kyra ralTaengh plays Ryth keiLaran. This is Kyra's first starring role, although she has played several well-known supporting roles, most notably in Sound Governance, the epic film of the founding of the Commonwealth.

Yral keiSinar plays Ghemal ralKurga. He has previously played several other "bad guys", including the dissolute young Dominar in Sound Governance and one of the Kash'ea in The Weakest of His Children, a movie adaption of an ancient Rukine myth.

SSC Commandant Haral tsaVarith is played by Kserghes tsaSassyn, who is best known for his role as Division Six Commandant in the movie adaption of the Tsarainese TV series Obsidian.

Producers: This film was produced by the Tsarainese Media Corps, a subsection of the State Security Corps of Division Five.

Special Effects: Very few special effects were used in the making of this film; apart from CGI taser firings the film was almost entirely filmed without special effects.

Director: Ivyan Hyazinari. Hyazinari has worked on several major projects before, including the movie adaption of Obsidian and The Weakest of His Children.

Running Time: One hour, fifty-two minutes.

Rating/Content: R16 (That's a New Zealand rating, actually - means only people of 16 or over can see it. For example, The Matrix: Revolutions was rated R16) for mild nudity, violence, and some profanity (overall, though, it's much less obscene than foreign films of similar ratings, as are most Tsarainese films).

It should be noted that the version of the film for foreign release has subtitles, as the Media Corps has few illusions about the ability of foreign citizens to speak Sekhel.

Hype: Heart of Glass is unusual for Tsarainese films in that the "bad guy" is not physically and morally repulsive. The film instead relys on the innocence of it's lead actress and the well-played rebel fanaticism of the lead actor to get the usual Tsarainese message across.

As the Tsarainese media industry is poorly funded, the film has recieved little hype, barring ads on Tsarainese entertainment channels and posters up in Nova Reio, Deep Tsarai, and Scheighu.

Movie Title: Garf the Inspector
Genre: Comedy
Movie Summary: A gag-a-minute comedy featuring the terminally incompetent Garf, a roving safety inspector. Garf can't get anything right, but his frequent accidents have saved his career as a safety inspector, as he inevitably discovers every unsafe feature by accident. In the end, Garf finds a happy ending after managing to botch his own funeral, showing up late and very much alive - to the surprise of all, who have seen Garf go through a grand total of no less than twenty three near death experiences over the course of the film. Classic slapstick comedy.
Cast: The star of the show is Mel Vellen, improvisational theater star and standup comic; he plays a very droll and serious Garf to the constant amusement of co-stars Wendy Blintz and Bob Bobson, amateur newscasters who anchor what is described as "Tahar Joblis's funniest occassional news station."
Producer(s): LensEye Productions put together this low budget comedy.
Special Effects: Virtually none.
Director: Gnob Pnob, a small time comedy troupe manager and video analyst for the Foreign Propaganda Ministry; his largely hands-off approach to letting the comic genius of the cast shine through.
Running Time: 82 minutes.
Rating/Content: Brief partial nudity, mild slapstick violence.
Hype: Meet Garf. Garf, say hi! Oh, dear, Garf, that must have hurt. Here, let me help. Ooops, sorry. Well, I'm sure Garf has a busy day ahead of him, let's not bother him any more... no? Do you want to see more of Garf?

Unfortunately due to connection problems analysis reports could not be stated until now.

The new charts are in and heres what analysts say:

"Well, it's a dark weekend for movie-makers... after a blow-out weekday extraveganza of long anticipated movie releases, very few viewers went to see any movies."

"Besides that we see a few cut-offs who barely made any money at all and it is highly advisable for them to leave theatres and start crafting the DVD/VHS versions which will hopefully be more successful."

"There are some records this weekend, however. The largest drop in profits! Ruthie although the top box office chart breaker now fell an incredible distance. The movie was big when it opened, but not anymore! Another failure is Celackian Pie with the lowest opening day gross EVER in the history of film making in the world! Grossin a mere 75,000 USD... the movie was dissmissed for its disgusting vulgarity and humorless perversion."

"Revenge of the Jade Dragon got another shot at success, this weekeend and topped the charts. It was merely eclipsed the previous week by more anticipated movies. Lord of the Spam hangs on to its 3rd spot and Sleepless in Sirrocco has bounced back to the top ten."

"It's obvious that audiences want good comedies now."

"The next week should show another landslide of attendance."

"The lack of good new releases, and sleeper titled dissuaded viewers from attending theatres."
02-12-2003, 06:18
LensEye Headquarters, Foreign Marketing Division7:

"Hmm.... that's a rather low gross for a film we spent that much on. Well, Garf did well here... what happened?"

"Well, we advertised Garf on what the Amerigans call a 'major television network,' several times. It seems to have worked rather well."

"Network? Television stations networked to each other? Such a bizarre idea. Advertising seems such a silly idea, but perhaps then it is best that we actually put out some advertisements about Ninth Arm. Word of mouth apparently only goes so far in Amerigo, and in spite of the... well, somewhat mind-altering nature of the film and supreme artistry, which doubtless encourages returning audiences, we don't seem to have captured much of an initial audience with the film."

"Perhaps... we can still recover the theater release."

"Hmm. Perhaps the abridged version is holding us back. Test screen the full version on Amerigan audiences; perhaps they have the patience for the whole film. OOC: This RL day will be not counted as the "next week", due to lack of new releases and secondly because I hereby dub today "Preview Day".

Now Spaam please if you will tell me what your preview time will consist of, or I'd have to do it for you. Oh yes people, post your tv/radio (etc.) commercials (here... also you might want to put up short release dates to build up anticipation or release sleeper movies) and if you want movie theatre previews remember its 100 USD per second.

Also, please we need a lot of new releases for tommorrow so submit several movies some B-movie fodder and announce antiicpated highly hyped movies' release dates.

Thank you.

In light of the expanding box office for Revenge of the Jade Dragon, which the studio has interpreted as the movie finding a word-of-mouth audience, the following commercial is aired in Amerigo in order to capitalize:

A black screen, with the word Betrayed written in light green outlined in gold. A mournful bamboo-flute melody plays softly in the background, and continues throughout the voiceover and the video clips. The voiceover itself is delivered in stentorian male tones.

Betrayed by those she had trusted.

Quick cuts from the movie: Aoi bowing to a figure whose back is to the camera, Aoi riding among other warriors with her sword drawn, Aoi struck from behind by a soldier from her own force. Cut to a black screen, with the word Abandoned in gold-outlined green.

Abandoned by those she had loved.

Clips: A scene of Miyuki kneeling, weeping, before a grave marker, slowly fades out as another scene, of Miyuki in a bridal gown standing next to Chiriko Akiyama in full royal ceremonial garb, slowly fades in. Cut to a black screen, with the word Forgotten in gold-outlined green.

Forgotten by those she had served.

Clip: A scene of Shiro Kitsuki in midwinter. Nothing moves save the slowly-falling snow. The castle seems almost abandoned as the camera circles it. Cut to a black screen. No word.

She was left for dead.

Clip: A far shot of a snowy countryside. A soft blanket of pure white... except for one red spot. The camera slowly draws closer to that spot. There is a body lying at its center; the red is her blood. Her eyes are closed, her face toward the sky. She is still bleeding. The camera continues to draw nearer, until only Aoi's head can be seen. Still it closes in...

They made one mistake...

Clip: The camera is now focused on one of Aoi's eyes. It snaps open suddenly.

They didn't make sure.

Cut to a black screen. The flute music cuts off, replaced by a martial-sounding drum, horn, and string arrangement. The word Vengeance emblazons itself across the screen in gold-outlined green.

And now, she's returned.

Quick cuts, each interspersed with a word in gold-outlined green:

Honor

Aoi, unarmed, faces three sword-wielding Akiyama henchmen in a forest.

Loyalty

Aoi and a foxman wearing Kitsuki Clan colors stand back-to-back in the streets of a city, facing off against a ring of twenty or so thugs.

Love

Aoi crashes through a doorway, and stops dead as she comes face to face with Miyuki.

Duty

Aoi, clearly wounded, stands atop Shiro Akiyama in a driving rainstorm, brandishing a long, crescent-bladed spear overhead. Chiriko, untouched and wielding two katana, faces her with a smirk.

Fate

Aoi is on her back on the roof, clutching the haft of her spear; the blade has apparently been broken off. Chiriko is down to one sword, which she holds in both hands, pressing down against the spear shaft. The sharp blade edges closer to Aoi's head as her arms begin to give out.

Dragon

The scene fades out, leaving the word against a black screen. Jade blazes itself onto the screen a moment later, and then the rest of the title, in plain gold text in a smaller font, fades in above it:

Revenge of the
Jade Dragon

Revenge of the Jade Dragon.
Aki Ayukawa.
Rika Kobayashi.
And introducing Kaoru Toyama.
A Ritsuko Asano film.

Text: Amerigo's #1 movie!

The final voiceover is a female voice: Aki Ayukawa, as Aoi.

Newest Charts are in. Analysts say:

"Well you could see ROJD has reaffirmed its number 1 position by aggresive advertisement. Speaking of agressive advertisement you can see LensEye Productions' Ninth Arm ascending up the charts also due to heavy advertising campaigns."

"The lack of any new releases this week and the anticipated Citizen Spam copming out this weekend the movies that sank below the charts have risen onto the charts again. The bottom tiers of the charts have suddenly become very competitive."

"The flop Ruthie claimed the box office busting record, and now sinks to oblivion. Celackian Pie re-emerges although on the very bottom."

"Several lower ranking movies ascend the charts while top rank holders slowly sink... the most noted is Felowship of the Spam which has once dominated the 3 rank for a whole seven day week."

"New releases are needed. Even poor ones! If Celackian Pie made it, the worst movie you can churn out can probably make it there, too."

Trinity Cambronne - 17 - An upcoming teen star, Trinity does a lot of horror - 18
Macie Hammet - 18 - A model turned singer turned actress, her looks are only rivaled by her abilities - 26
Alia Oleveda - 7 - Type-casted for always being the "best friend" in movies when she was younger, hasn't had a part in a while- 73

Only 10 f---'s...but 45 others...

The new charts are in and heres what critics say,

"The premier of Citizen Spam almost broke the record for highest grossing film in its debut week/weekend! Just a few more thousand and it would have beat Ruthie. Speaking of Ruthie, the film critcs labeled a flop, and which plummeted off the charts last week, and now landed in the top ten? What gives you ask? Well, the answer is simple. A highly publicized law suit has been launched against Wakka Wakka Studios by Amerigan-based Dalt Wiseny Corporations, who claim that charecter "Ruthie" has too much of a resemblence toward their popular TV-series "Lucy's Days". Throngs of viewers thronged to the theatres to see if there was actually a resemblance. How this international lawsuit will be resolved, remains to be seen."

"The new premiers may have siezed the tops spots yet Jade Dragon retains to its place among the top 3."

"In other news, Sleepless in Sirrocco failed to bring enough sales, and plummeted off the charts, it seems to replace Ruthie's place. The reason for this is simple. A dispute with Amerigan Benjamin Studios and the producers of Sleepless... had resulted in the ban of Sleepless in all ABS theatres. Since ABS has a mjority of Amerigan theatres, Sleepless now sleeps with the rejects."

"With the apparent success of comedies, comedy movies are still in very high demand!"

"Amerigans still want DVDs! There are no new good DVDs out. There is a suggestion by major heads of theatres companies that the following movies should be removed from theatres SOON, before they are forcibly removed due to insufficient sales:

Movie Genre: Action

Movie Summary: Witness James Randolph is the government's key to shutting down the DeRazzio crime syndicate of Hanford, Oglethorpia; the question is, will he survive?

Good-cop bad-cop duo Frank Müller and Mike McGinnis must make sure Randolph lives to tell his tale against a vicious syndicate set on eradicating Randolph.

'Müller' has a mostly strong cast of actors, but the movie's centerpeice is it's 18 minute car chase through the streets of Hanford; full of powerslides, jumps over the cities numerous hills, pyrotechnics and a number of other daring jumps.

Cast:
Tom Stroll as Frank Müller (Attack of the Giant Squid!)
Mick Mickelson as Rich McGinnis
Kevin Costly as James Randolph

Budget: €32,100,512 Commutable Credits

Producer: Bureaucratic Pictures (Attack of the Giant Squid!)

Special Effects: 'Müller' introduced no new special effects; what it did was take them to new levels. Frank Müller takes his Narwhal 3000 through a barrel roll, crashing through the wall of an exploding warehouse. The film features other such wanton use of pyrotechnics and choreographed car chases.

Trouble has brewwed as several vampires have sued Binei productions over the vampire King saying it paints a bad veiw of vampires, however as the vampires in question have known to conduct such activities in real life as some of what has been shown in the film they were laughed out of court before begining staked and beheaded by members of one of the many holy orders that hunt vampires. In various places across the world, this event has resparked public intrest in the movie and Binei productions has began to finally seriously adverise the movie.

.:Second advertisement in as many weeks:.

"Carol of the Bells" by The Trans-Siberian Orchestra feat. Metallica begins to play.

A booming voice comes up over a scene of a beautiful city at daytime with the sun reflecting off of the glimmering buildings.

"This Holiday Season..."

Families are shown. Children play in the streets.

"...while you're celebrating in your homes..."

General happiness - Pretty dream world shots.

"...remember those...who don't have a home to return too..."

Metallica's metal anthem rings through the speakers as scenes of decaying soldiers of dreams battling humans in the dream world flash across the screen rapidly.

"When you fall asleep tonight..."

The town from the beginning of the ad is shown at night, ablaze and burning with people screaming and crying as their flesh burns away.

"...pray that you wake up..."

The stars names pop up all over the screen in random places until the logo of The Dream Within appears. It lingers for a while until it is ripped away by a zombie-like soldier of dreams in all of its horrid detail.

The Camera zooms out to show the hero attack the zombie-like soldier with a machine gun, blowing chunks of flesh away and splattering blood that appears like it is on the screen.

*The hero says, "Merry Christmas..."

*(In other R-rated films or on late night TV, the hero says, "Merry Christmas, Mother Fuck ers!")

In an attempt to boost ticket sales to Lord Of The Spam: Fellowship Of The Spam, Hulky Productions have sent out new copies of the file with some extras in it, and launched a new ad campaign. The ads will show during during the previews of all currently screening movies, and will be one minute long. Hulky Productions is hoping this will draw both moviegoers who haven't seen the movie, and those who have to see the new edition, and push the movie back into the top 5.

~~Lord Of The Spam: Fellowship Of The Spam~~

Soothing orchestral music starts playing....

A strange village is seen from above, zooming down.

A black shadow is seen flitting through the forest, the music interrupted by an unnerving unnatural scream.

The camera continues zooming down, until it comes to a house.

A black shadow is seen crossing a river, the music interrupted by an unnerving unnatural scream.

The camera continues zooming into the house.

A black shadow is travels along a road, the music interrupted by an unnerving unnatural scream.

The camera continues zooming into a room, onto a table, where a golden can of processed meat substitute is sitting, with strange markings on it.

The music stops.

SUDDENLY A BLACK SHADOW ZOOMS INTO THE CAMERA WITH A LOUD UNNATURAL SCREAM!

More upbeat, adventurous music starts playing

A hobbit is seen giving another hobbit the can.

"Amerigo, this is the One Spam...."

A band of hobbits is seen travelling a road.

"You must guard it with your life...."

The hobbits are seen with some elves, and Amerigo is saying "Who will come with me?"

"And destroy it...."

Elves and hobbits are seen fighting a band of orcs.

"Before it falls into the wrong hand."

A dramatic chord plays, and big eye is seen in the middle of the screen.

Various scenes from the movie are played, with upbeat music still playing.

"In cinemas now, the new extended version of Lord Of The Spam: Fellowship Of The Spam, with never before seen footage. Experience the adventure at cinemas today."

Movie Title: The Silver Star and the Skunk
Movie Genre: War Film/Action
Movie Summary: The film is a thinly fictionalized close look at the First Allanean War, highlighting the military genius of then-Major Jessica Silvus. The film is brutal and highly controversial in Tahar Joblis, with many scenes of controversy. The character "Sargeant Schlock," in one gruesome scene, blows the head clear off of an Allanean partisan with his Oro battle armor suit's integral 50mm recoilless rifle at point blank while interrogating a trio of Allanean prisoners. Some critics have derided several brief scenes showing struggles between Allanean and Tahar Joblissan aircraft as unrealistic; however, they are historically accurate, reflecting the dramatic superiority of Tahar Joblissan pilots (the histories indicate close to a 10:1 kill ratio favoring TJAF pilots in the first Allanean War.) Depictions of Pure Evil allied troops on the ground as well as the Allanean Army are no less nice, but the film is extremely well constructed, based largely around the early stages of the ground war, in which a very small number of Tahar Joblissans managed to dominate Allanean opponents in the corners that PE troops did not cover.
Producers: LensEye Productions
Director: Tahar Joblissan retired Marine Sargeant Ernst Slax, who has produced numerous short films before. Some theorize that the rather eager and at times brutal Sargeant Schlock is styled after his own experience; although not one of the leading roles
Cast: Stars Steven Johnson Thomas as Private Calemor, Min Prollar as Major Jessica, also referred to as "The Silver Major" in the film. Evan Marsalis as Sargeant Schlock.
Running Time: 132 minutes.
Rating: Almost certainly an R; this is a war film that pulls no punches.
Hype:
A galaxy whirling in space; zoom into a cluster, a star, a planet, and then Allanea on the globe, and then in to a war zone, where armored troops are ambushing an Allanean tank convoy.
Not so long ago... in a galaxy not so far away... there was War.
[b]A scream punctuates this sentence, and a headless soldier smashes into the camera Blackout. A shining light, and a soldier in a tent scratching in his journal in the darkness.
We were few, and the enemy was everywhere. Fortunately, a silver star shone upon us -His face is lit with a silver light- and we pulled through. I will never forget those days.
Cut to a stylized eye in dark green on a blank screen. A very idealized skunk in red lines scampers onto the screen, sprays the camera, and is pulled down off the screen by a tentacle.
LensEye Productions presents the Silver Star and the Skunk. Coming soon to a theater near you!

With the theatre run beginning to noticably die down after peaking due to advertising, LensEye's marketing division has begun putting together "advertisements" for the DVD release; the ad is planned for release after another week or two of theater run, when it finishes dying down.

Drumroll, then the drumming breaks into a march...
Overvoice on a screen with a dark green stylized eye fading in:
You saw it in the theaters. Really?

You saw part of it in the theaters. And soon, you can see all of it. As many times as you wish. In the privacy of your own home.

Drums continue playing the march louder and louder; suddenly, flashes from the movie. A great oblongate vessel breaking apart in a series of explosions, a couple marching down a wedding aisle, an Iesusan assassin lining up his sights and pulling the trigger, a kiss shared across many mouths, actor and martial arts demonstrator Ming Sun III toppling a brick wall onto a squad of surprised Iesusan soldiers, TJF-3 Mongooses dueling in the sky with EOTED M#s, Allanean tanks rolling across an open field, a teenaged girl staring into the mirror in a light haze of smoke, a dance, a vast dirigible with a thousand men working on anchoring it as it lands.

An overvoice breaks in over the flashes from the movie, and the scene then fades into a picture of the Ninth Arm DVD release, the Ninth Arm Extended Release DVD, the Ninth Arm soundtrack CD, and the Ninth Arm Deluxe Edition DVD.
The full version, previously only available in Tahar Joblis, is now available to the Amerigan consumer on DVD, with never seen before bonus features. Buy the deluxe edition and get an entire bonus DVD full of bonus features, extra material, interviews with the stars, background on the making of the film, and a half hour martial arts extravaganza from the famous Ming Sun III.
Flash to a series of posters featuring actors and scenes from the film; then fades to a stylized octopus, upon which a ninth arm fades in.
The Ninth Arm. Coming soon to DVD.

Further Hype Relating to The Silver Star and the Skunk:

Brief advert:
Heavy Darth Vader-esque breathing begins. A green tinted compressed viewband shows, in its distorted fashion, the woods around. Towards the edges, running UBUs come into view. The harsh breathing accelerates. In the middle, in a clearing, a tank comes into view, Allanean commander eating lunch on the cupola. He drops his sandwich in astonishment as the focus zooms in on him lightning fast, and the screen cuts to the movie title.

The Silver Star and the Skunk.

Now playing in theatres.

Interview with Marcus Brando Silvus: (representative excerpt; interview is being circulated on Amerigan television. Marcus Brando Silvus has made himself available for interviews.)

"It's an outrageous film. Imagine, putting something so bloody and violent on the big screen... just think of the children." He snorts. "And such a preposterous egregious infamy it inflicts upon our family name as Silvuses. Positively outrageous."

Marcus glares, and pulls out a poster of Min Prollar in battle armor. "To think that they're trying to sell this film abroad like this, after the travesty of producing it in the first place..." He shudders visibly. "It's a horrible terrible movie! Imagine, digging up the Allanean War like that..."

OOC: Not all hype is obvious

OOC: Oh, and one more prong.

Magazine and television ads have begun promoting a video action game called "Skunk Hunt," apparently somewhat related to the movie The Silver Star and the Skunk; the game comes with a free poster for the movie. Much of the game appears to be concerned with hunting "Skunks" - Allanean tanks, largely.

Introduction by Robert Langley, Director

"It is a truly amazing forum, many people would say. A short and polished storyline, but a terrific representation, featuring our best actors, actresses, and production crews. Think of rebel warfare in the mid-50es. Think of a realistic battle, as if you were a rebel soldier yourself. Fighting for survival."

*A scene of Debora yelling and signaling at his comrades appears, while the introduction continued on*

Such excellent dynamics and action in the film, along with the actual story of Debora, makes The Dawn Sets an excellent historical movie. Absolutely recommended."

Comments by John Roberts, Debora

"The Dawn Sets is an excellent film product,"

*A scene of Debora speaking to his comrades shortly before they were left behind appears, continued with a scene of the Private awake in daziness as Debora cared for him*

"...which puts you into the body of a young, patriotic rebel soldier trying to gain freedom for the millions of Omzian citizens. The short timeline of this movie gives us an excellent opportunity to punch a lot of details and polishing. The presentation is absolutely magnificant, featuring our best men, our best presentation, and our best ideas. Certainly a film myself recommend."

Comments by Jan Hagen, Production Board Manager

(Sydney Morning Herald - extract)

In a twist reminiscient of Hollywood, dozens of Aborigines have filed complaints with the Taiwanese film commision over Virgin Atlantic's Pauline Hanson - The musical. The complaints stem from a scene where Hanson sings the Australian national anthem to the images of White supremicist brutality.

"This scene is clearly racist. It says that Aborgines are the enemies of Australians. We want Virgin to compensate our race for this insult."

Film critics believe the extra controversy will be good for ticket sales.

[aforementioned Lyong-ti trailer, 40 seconds]

(A black screen, faint music with drumbeat in the background)

NARRATOR: Two thousand years ago…

(The camera suddenly reveals a ¾ overhead scene of mountainous, snow-covered terrain, zooming past at high speed. The drum beat quickens to match, and the music volume begins to rise)

NARRATOR: In a world rocked by chaos…

(The camera leaps over a crest in the mountains, revealing a wide plain below, on which two feudal armies clash. There are thousands of soldiers on each side, both footsoldiers and cavalry, with the occasional ballista, hacking, slashing, and beating each other).

NARRATOR: One man rose up against it all.

(Clips flash by in quick succession, as the music approaches crescendo. A young man (Lyong-ti) in a swordfight on a rain-soaked rooftop. A cavalry horde thundering down a mountainside. The swordfight. A line of archers unleashing a rain of arrows, cutting down the charging cavalry. Lyong-ti passionately kissing a beautiful young woman while the room around them is consumed by flames. Again, the swordfight, as Lyong-ti’s sword is sent flying out of his hands).

(The music vanishes after its crescendo, and the screen goes black. White letters spring forth: ‘LYONG-TI’, followed by ‘Coming soon to Theatres.’)

Movie Title: Lyong-ti
Movie Genre: Epic Action-Adventure
Movie Summary: Lyong-ti tells the story of the semi-mythic hero Lyong-ti, who rose from being the fifth son of a rice farmer to become ruler of a vast empire spanning the whole of the present-day Lyong Penninsula region. The movie follows Lyong-ti, through both his battles (filmed on a massive and spectacular scale), and his deep but ill-fated love, finally ending in an allusion to his ‘ascension to Heaven’ (according to traditional Spyran animism, Lyong-ti is said to have risen to become ruler of Heaven Depending on how seriously this scene is taken, and the religious background of the audience, this may cause some controversy).
Cast: Ieyaren Strain-Takai, Mei Furitaka, Venton Teshigawa. (The first two actors are young and talented, popular for at least one successful film each, though these films did not undergo international release. Teshigawa also has some fame, for his starring role in the drama film Red Falcon , and for his numerous stage roles as a Shakespearian actor.
Budget: 220 million dollars
Producers: Spyran Ministry of Knowledge (numerous propaganda, documentary, and cultural works); Spring Blossom Studios (Red Falcon, Ogawa, Hunt for Blue Dragon).
Special Effects: Due to the epic nature of the film, a large number of effects were used, including advanced pyrotechnics and maximum-realism CG effects, as well as a huge cast of extras employing intricately detailed costumes and props. Particularly notable is the high degree of realism in terms of blood and wounds in the large battle scenes.

Movie Title: Truth.
Movie Genre: Drama
Movie Summary: Davis Harp is a 58 year old man who once had it all. Or so he thought. In his mind, he was the CEO of a multimillion dollar corporation, but in reality he was the manager of an electronics store. In his mind, his house was the biggest house in the best neighborhood in the city, but in reality, it was a run-down apartment in the worst part of town. In his mind, he had the newest and fastest car on the market, but in reality, he drove an old used station wagon. And he has lived like this, until one day a customer comes in complaining about his old, broken down TV, which happens to be the same one Davis owns. After developing a friendship with this man, Davis crashes hard into reality and self-realization, and recognizes that what he originally thought was not what is true.

Kaze Progressa are interested in hosting the International Movie Awards.

K-Films, meanwhile, release another film:

Movie Title: Nuke the Cops!
Movie Genre: Action-adventure spoof
Movie Summary and cast: A freedom fighter from Jaurania known only as 'Escapa' (Nurak Turjill) arrives in Kaze Progressa. His aim is simple - to destroy as much of Kaza as he can. As the country's tough police zero in on him, he opts for desperate measures, and all hell breaks loose, culminating in a seven-minute chase between police cars, Escapa in a tank and his sidekick 'Stalina' (Runib Buntara) in a stolen police helicopter through Kaza, where cars are banned to civilians, forcing the chasers to use any route they can find around buildings...
Budget: 225m kaks (over $90m) - the most expensive film in Progressan history.
Producer: K-Films
Special Effects: 15m kaks were spent on explosions. Stalina's stunt double for the helicopter chase, Burlin Terail - a former air force pilot - is believed to be the first man in history to have executed a barrel roll in a helicopter, and he repeats this trick here.
Director: Gurzik Merilka. Director of several action flicks in Kaze Progressa, this is his first international release.
Running Time: 88 Minutes
Rating/Content: PG-13 (moderate language and violence)

Advertising: (25 seconds)

[Escapa spins aimlessly around a Kaza park in a stolen tank]
He's come to cause carnage...
[Escapa's tank slides into a tram, or so it seems. It just misses]
...but he wasn't even any good at that.
[Cop comes into scene, shoots guns at tank, barely scratches him. Escapa shoots tank gun at cop. Misses.]
Violence doesn't pay for the incompetent...
[Bomb from helicopter lands on copper]
...unless you... NUKE THE COPS!
[Ultra-fast techno-rock music plays as we watch a cop and Escapa run through Kaza's World Cup Hockey stadium, shooting and missing all the time]
The explosive action is coming to your cinema soon!

Movie Title: The Rock
Movie Genre: Drama
Movie Summary: A young teenager in a small town one night has a frightening dream-- the giant boulder that has sat on an unstable cliff over the town for 100,000 years falls. He then spends all his time devoted to convincing those around him in the town that the rock is going to fall and they need to stop it. No one listens to him, so he then crusades to stop it by himself. One day when he's up on the hill, building supports, the rock starts to slip, and sure enough, starts to fall. He runs under it, and as it crushes him, it comes to a stop.
Cast:

Paul Ryan - an up and coming young actor who is brilliantly gifted but doesn't have a big name yet. He is 15 years old.

Budget: $13 million USD
Producer: Mighty Rock Productions
Special Effects: The Rock itself is the most CGI detailed object in the history of film, containing almost 1 million different attributes.
Director: Jonias Jones
Running Time: 2 hours, 27 minutes
Rating/Content: PG

Hype:
Commercial = 2 minute 12 seconds of time:

(various scenes of the movie that correspond with the lyrics are shown. The Harry Chapin song comes on: )

The rock is gonna fall on us, he woke with a start
And he ran to his mother, the fear dark in his heart
And he told her of the vision that he was sure he'd seen
She said: "Go back to sleep son, you're having a bad dream!"

Silly child--
Everybody knows the rock leans over the town
Everybody knows that it won't tumble to the ground
Remember Chicken Little said the sky was falling down
Well nothing ever came of that, the world still whirls around

"The rock is gonna fall on us," he stood and told the class
The professor put his chalk down and peered out through his glasses
But he went on and said; "I've seen it, high up on the hill
If it doesn't fall this year then very soon it will!"

Crazy boy--
Everybody knows the rock leans over the town
Everybody knows that it won't tumble to the ground
We've more important studies than your fantasies and fears
You know that rock's been perched up there for a hundred thousand years

"The rock is gonna fall on us." He told the magistrates
"I believe that we can stop it but the time is getting late
You see I've done all the research my plans are all complete."
He was showing them contingencies when they showed him to the street

Just a madman--
Everybody knows the rock leans over the town
Everybody knows that it won't tumble to the ground
Everybody knows of those who say the end is near
Everybody knows that life goes on as usual round here

He went up on the mountain beside the giant stone
They knew he was insane so they left him alone
He'd given up enlisting help for there was no one else
He spent his days devising ways to stop the rock himself
One night while he was working building braces on the ledge
The ground began to rumble the rock trembled on the edge

"The rock is gonna fall on us! Run or you'll all be crushed!"
And indeed the rock was moving, crumbling all to dust
He ran under it with one last hope that he could add a prop
And as he disappeared the rock came to a stop

The people ran into the street but by then all was still
The rock seemed where it always was or where it always will be
When someone asked where he had gone they said: "Oh he was daft.
Who cares about that crazy fool." And then they'd start to laugh

But high up on the mountain
When the wind is hitting it
If you're watching very closely
The rock slips a little bit

Movie Title: Barbarians in the Gate
Movie Genre: Drama/War/Action/Thriller
Movie Summary: During the Amerigan Slaver War, a Syskeyian sniper and a Iesus Christi sniper play a deadly game of cat-and-mouse among the bombed-out ruins of Liasa.
Budget: §85 million
Running Time 100 minutes
Rating/Content R for some language, strong war violence.
Hype "A war between many nations became a battle between two men."
Any Additional comments: Similar plotline to Enemy at the Gates, but better done. Sure, it's completely ahistorical (there were, sadly, no Syskeyia-Iesus confrontations during the Amerigan Slaver War it should be noted, however, that syskeyian soldiers reported a significant number of Amerigans heading toward the Syskeyian-Amerigan-Rastonian front, trying to escape sthe Iesus Christi soldiers), but what the heck, the Syskeyian public loves the film and hopefully the Amerigans should love it too!

OOC:My sister came up with this, and I liked the original thread so...

Movie Title: Deep Blue Fears
Movie Genre: Thriller
Movie Summary: An Amerigan family of five. A rogue submarine captain. His estranged lovers... including a rival submarine captain out for his blood looking for him, and one on trapped on board his pirated submarine by accident. A missionary. Two marine biologists. A thousand fathoms under the sea, limited supplies, the threat of crushing depths, and ... something else. It's never entirely clear what menace is lurking outside the submarine - aside from patrols looking for them and a few hunter subs that would be glad to put an end to their ordeal in the name of national security - or inside. After the mysterious death of the Amerigan mother, tension rises in those within the submarine. Mysterious sounds from outside and the sudden destruction of the remotes by something outside heighten the tension as arguments fly. Several die in rage and conflict with each other, including the missionary, who then walks out the air lock. Then the captain is found dead at the helm - without a mark or a sign of any reason. Just dead. Eventually, the biologists and two surviving children escape inside torpedos, one biologist managing to delay-fire the last one by enough to get within it. The submarine thrums and comes alive behind them, haphazardly crashing into the crushing depth of a deep ocean trench. The captain's vengeful lover/rival captain pursues the vessel just a little too deep.
Cast:
Producer(s): LensEye Production
Special Effects: Remarkably good underwater sequences and realistic deaths. A very strange dream-type sequences have been heavily computer edited.
Director: Minas Teras, moderately experienced videographer and member of a rather dark cult.
Running Time: 100 minutes
Rating/Content: Almost all violence occurs offscreen... making the film all the more disturbing. Mild language, highly disturbing.
Hype: Have you ever had one of these days? (cut to a joyful scene centered on a frowning Amerigan woman) Where nothing goes right? (cut to a military command center with sirens blaring and a panicked minister explaining that nuclear warheads are in the hands of a loos maniac) Have you ever worried ... that someone else is having a worse day? (cut to a scene of a child in a cramped sub compartment...) "Mommy, where's the rest of your body?"
