Iso Ppl mobilizes all forces (WWIX thread)

10-11-2003, 22:56
OOC: this thread is for those participating in WWIX. Anyone else that comments in here that's not on the list as made up by The Macabees is asked before hand to not post.

The Preator slammed his fist down on the cedar table. Seated around him where the Chairmen and women that led the various councils of the Empire. "Now is the time to strike! Our nation is in need of oil, and we are situated so close to it. We need to just take it. Nobody would dare stand in our way, or else they'd be crushed. I'm ordering you to make it happen Dominus," he said as closing. The meeting ended soon after that, with Chairman of Defense Dominus Mark heading to his office to send the official orders.

OOC2: the army order was supposed to go out last night, but the stupid forums wouldn't let me on, so I'm posting it now along with a few immediate results in order to catch up.

General Army Order IEA-9G1

Effective immediately, Army Groups A-F are put on full active alert and standby for commencement of hostilities. Local commanders are given permission, within Empire ROE's to proceed with the following objectives:

1. Army Group Alpha is to proceed, starting at 0400 hours to head due east to the border of Armenia, where Alpha will hold for further orders;

2. Army Group Bravo will head south along the Turkish border with the Medditerranian, halting at the Syrain border, to prevent any unforseen naval landings along that theater by any nations, most specifically Tahar Joblis since they are immediately located off our Southern area;

3. Army Group Charlie will make to the Syrian border and push south to establish a base of operations along the Syria-Saudi border, and to launch raids against forces in western Iraq;

4. Army Group Delta is to follow AG Charlie, then detache and head south-southeast to Iraq, to capitalize on captured oil to be found there. After capturing the northern fields, AG Delta will head to Bagdad, then establish a line preventing encroachment by outside forces against our forces in Iraq at the border of Iraq and Saudi Arabia;

5. Army Group Echo, along with AG Foxtrot, will establish a defensive perimeter at our border with Greece and Bulgaria to prevent incursions from that direction. They are tasked with holding the northern theater.

6. Army Group Foxtrot is for the time being attached to AG Echo to establish the northern front.

7. Attachment to Empire ROE's is that, unless fired upon first by other nations (ooc: as in, other nations in wwix that I don't know what they're doing), no soldier is to fire upon enemy formations of unknown nations, unless given direct authority to do so from command.

8. Naval Fleets 1-3 are tasked with guarding the Istanbul Channel, establishing checkpoints to search merchant ships. Under no circumstances are warships from any nation to be allowed access to the Channel to proceed to the Black Sea or from the Black Sea to the Mediterranian. Only civilian merchant ships, or neutral countries, will be allowed access to the Channel.

9. All AG's are being sent the list of attached mechanized and tracked vehicle brigades and air units assigned to their respective commands.

Empire News Report:

We interupt your program for the latest updates on the developing hostilities along our Southern Border.

What started as minor border skirmishes with partisan forces of both Syrian and Iraqi nationalities, glorious Empire armies have marched from Istanbul and Ankara towards these countries. Army Group Bravo has led the way, taking over the major cities of Konya, Antalya, Adana and Iskenderum in order to establish control bases there for stopping any invasion actions along the Mediterranean border.

Army Group Alpha has also made headway, moving straight east to the Armenian border, conquering the cities of Samsun, Sivas, Trabzon and Hopa. They are currently holding at the Armenian-Georgeian-Turkish border in order to establish a perimeter line.

Army Group's Charlie and Delta have had a little more rough time in their advances. After running into heavier than expected resistance in the city of Diyarbakur on the Tigris River, the two Army Groups seperated and went on towards their individual objectives. Charlie invaded northern Syria, pushing to the towns of Aleppo in the west and Al Hasakah in the east.

All the Army Groups have sustained light casualties, and our thanks go out to those glorious soldiers fighting for the Empire.

In related news, Empire naval fleets have taken positions in strategic locations in the Aegean Sea in order to prevent other nation's warships access to the Black Sea. So far, several merchant ships have been stopped and searched with no incidents. However, there have been reports of increases of warships and transports of an unknown nation. While these have not involved our ships, their intentions are not known at this time.

Finally, all is quiet on the northern front as the 2 million men of Army Group's Echo and Foxtrot have dug in defensive positions.

did you hit TJ yet?
11-11-2003, 01:59
ooc: not yet, i'm gonna wait till tomorrow before posting about any forces meeting. For one, because my internet connection is really crappy right now and I'm hoping it will get better; two, i'll have more time; and three, because it would be more realistic to have the delay, because the time it would take would be a little under a month in my time, which would be good for taking syria.

OOC: And I, of course, have a couple actions to interject in. I assume you mean Armenia and not Algeria in your 2nd post there, it wouldn't make any sense...

With heavy naval guns on standby off the Syrian coast, the First Army has begun to secure Lebanon and surrounding region from the coast to Nazereth and Damascus, constructing artillery positions in the Golan Heights. Out of uniform groups of apparent deserters have been melting into Jordan. Tensions run high, but the First Army has thus far not engaged either Isolationist Peoples to the north or Armacor to the south.

The First Army has adopted a friendly position towards the Syrians, Palestinians, Lebanese, and Israelis in the occupied zone and has begun sending ground scouts* out to meet with local leaders and scout out the terrain. The 160 main battle tanks deployed with the army have been dispersed and not displayed in a particularly visible manner in the event of partisan attacks, but the assorted 1400 lighter tanks and tank-like vehicles have been used extensively in securing the area.

Isolationist Peoples naval elements in the Aegean have begun to feel uncomfortably crowded with large unidentified vessels detected with increasing frequency around the isles and substantial NDOTJ deployments well within the long range of Tahar Joblissan anti-shipping missiles.

Frankly, we require more Goliaths if we are to go toe-to-toe with the Iso-Army in Kurdish territories, and I'm not seeing the industrial base required to produce them here straightaway. Admiral, with all due respect, I might be able to hand them a sore beating if they came here to us, in range of naval artillery and coming up into the mountains, but the Iraqi oilfields may as well be on the far side of Uzbekistan if you can't get me armor in bulk.

***Courier Message to Command, AG Charlie***

Have spotted unknown nation's elements in Syria. Appears to be a vanguard of foward elements. Unknown number of armor. Unknown number of troops, but estimating less than 100,000 so far. Unknown nation has reached as far inland as 50 miles past As Sa'an. Requesting permission to locate 'opportunity' targets for elimination.

OOC: Mind if I go ahead and respond to the movements in particular, assuming they go ahead straightaway, or is there some third party cue that the movements wait for?
11-11-2003, 20:37
OOC: You can respond if you like I guess, but none of my units should be close to your ground units to attack. I'm just moving them around to prepare for things, getting them into launching positions.

OOC: You can respond if you like I guess, but none of my units should be close to your ground units to attack. I'm just moving them around to prepare for things, getting them into launching positions.

OOC: Well, I would react at about the point where AG Bravo marches into Latakia, to be honest... my guys are a bit jumpy on the ground. Heck, I wrote up post already, see how much you can run with it.

General Hakthrop's HQ, Lebanon:

"Sir! Just in from CCC, satellite imagery showing big movements. We've got two major groupings, one sliding out to the coast and one heading in straight in the direction of the Iraqi-Saudi border."

The technician began laying out a series of scansheets on the table.

"As you can see, we've got probably around a million men, about 2,000-2,500 tanks, and about the same in lighter vehicle support in each battle group..."

Moments later:

The general barked loudly into the phone. "Admiral, I want naval bombardment and air strikes! How soon can we scramble jets? Oh, and you might want to tell the Armacorians they're looking at an army heading their way."

The admiral on the other end of the line nodded. "Will do, General. Intcom, I want those sat phot copied to Armacor stat, with a copy of our analysis. They should be warned what's heading their way."

Operation Bremse:
Much of this is contingent, so there's no point in me getting too far ahead of things when your approach plan is likely to change quickly.

Tahar Joblissan forces begin to react as AG Bravo leaves Latakia, with a series of loud unencrypted radio transmissions demanding AG Bravo state its intentions. Tahar Joblissan forces will not react directly to AG Charlie on its current path.

Assuming continued hostile behavior or failure to respond, the dreadnaught TJS Ferret and the battlecruiser Last Fathom begin offshore bombardment from 50 miles offshore with a total of fifteen 16"/50 guns as AG Bravo begins to march along the coast towards the original LZ in a clearly offensive fashion.

A pair of Tentacle II light cruisers will, within ten minutes, have moved up slightly towards the coast to join in, adding a total of 4 8" and 4 12" guns to the mix for good measure; 200mm, 175mm, and 155mm artillery fire from the mountains will begin only when AG Bravo reaches within 30 miles of the first TJ defensive positions in the Lebanese mountains. (Total gun artillery positions would be roughly 2500, most of them fixed and not particularly mobile; range is a bit over 30 miles.)

20 TJF-7A Fireflies and 60 TJF-5 Albatrosses, escorted by a hundred TJF-3 Mongooses and about a dozen TJF-1 Fireballs (a quick strike mission from home base on an impromptu scramble order), will come in to perform air strikes, arriving roughly 40 minutes after the first shots fired by the TJS Ferret. By the time they arrive, a substantially larger wing will be prepped and ready to go, depending on how things are going; in addition, if the army simply continues marching forward as best they can, cruise missiles will begin to be fired from TJ ground positions in Lebanon and southern Syria and Cyprus towards the army.

OOC: Ok, I guess that works. Here's the first attack post.

*Secure Transmission to Command, AG's Bravo & Charlie*

Rising Sun.

*End Transmission*

======================================

Exactly 60 seconds after recieving the transmission, 400 cruise missiles (tomahawk, harpoons and 5 AM-35 Silverhawk anti-sat missiles) launched from various points throughout the Southern area of Turkey. 100 were targeted at the beachheads at Latakia and Tartus (ooc:assuming that's where you originally landed), 100 at their surface ships throughout the Aegean and Mediterranean close to IP territory, and 200 at their foward elements in Syria. Time varied to the different targets, but the last one was schedualed to hit in 10 minutes after launch. The Silverhawk were targeting the various spy sats that TJ had.

========================================

5 minutes after the cruise missiles launched, AG Bravo launched from Aleppo, heading towards Idlib. No elements of TJ had been located directly in their path as yet, but AG Bravo was very alert as they knew TJ was out here somewhere.

========================================

At the same time, the majority of AG Charlie left out of Al Hasakah towards the Euphrates Dam near Madinat ath Thawrah. A battalion of 250 M1A2's, 150 APC's, 50 Crusaders, 10 Mammoth Tanks and 150,000 soldiers marched south to keep TJ's attention down south as well. This detachment headed towards Dayr az Zawr making much 'noise' as a deception as to how big it was while the main force tried to flank TJ on the north.

========================================
OOC: for the air forces, 1 fighter squadron = 24 planes, and a bomber squadron = 20 planes

At the IP airbase at Adana, the planes were scrambled for their missions. 2 squads of B-52's, along with 3 protection squads (2 of Super Tomcats and 1 of F-300 Air Dominance Fighters) were tasked of bombing the main elements of TJ ground units in the Syrian Desert near AG Charlie. They lifted off on time, topping off their tanks from the circuling tankers, then headed southeast to reach their targets in 40 minutes of flight time. AWACS didn't report any major elements in their way, though once TJ radar figured out where they were heading that would change rapidly. In prepatory status for quick scrambling, 8 fighter squads were readying (1 of F-62 Dark Ravens, 2 of AMF-2 Chimera's, 1 of F-56 Rapiers, and 4 of Super Tomcats).

=======================================

In the Aegean Sea, the Trauntul V stealth FAB's were tasked with distracting the escorts of any carrier, while aboard the 2 Hover Carriers near Istanbul F-22's (modified, bought from Unum Veritas), Super Hornets and Intruders shot off the decks to attack the surface ships left over from the harpoon attacks. One group of 113 flew straight south to attack ships in the open parts of the Aegean Sea, while the other group of 107 flew towards the many isles and more shallow part of the Aegean Sea searching out any landing ships or other targets for them to hit. Both groups made efforts to stay away from the coastline of Greece and the island of Crete, as it was logical for TJ to have established a precense at both places.

Under neath the water, 15 Type 621 SSGN subs (catipiller-drived subs, like on Hunt for Red October, very silent) started stalking TJ ships, both military and civilian. Seawolf and LA subs were present as well. Primary targets were carriers and landing ships, yet if it had a TJ flag, its was a target.

OOC: I have a question about some of my forces. I bought some underwater carriers from the nation of Clairmont. They're a cross between a sub and carrier, able to carry fighters that go under water. I don't have the link to his website at the moment where you can look at the stuff yourself, but would it be alright to use these forces. They operate on supercavitation-technology.

EDIT: gave more specific targets to the cruise missiles, and spelling

Empire News Report

The Council of Defense has announced today the creation of two new army groups to aid in the expansions of the Empire. Army Group's Gamma and Hotel, each comprised of 1.5 million men, has a fighting force of almost 900,000 men, along with armor and air units. Army Group Gamma, with the aid of Army Group Alpha, has invaded Armenia and Georgia, capturing the capital of Armenia with minimal fighting. Though the fighting in Georgia is described by one army commander as 'fierce and determined by the natives,' the army is making headway against inferiour numbers of soldiers.

With the formation of Army Group Hotel, the Empire now has three Army Groups with which to stop the invading armies of Tahar Joblis in Syria. This leaves Army Group Delta in Iraq to shore up the oil fields there, where minor terrorists activities have damaged at least three oil pipelines carrying oil to the Empire.

This has been an Empire war update.
12-11-2003, 16:26
OOC: That style of attack changes a few things... for example, when Tahar Joblissan forces react changes dramatically from "sat photos indicating big ground movement definitely heading their way" to "radar picking up multiple missile launches;" initial jet scramble from Cyprus, for example, will have estimated group time of arrival ~45 mins from tomahawk launches at time f launch, and the TJF-3 Mongooses will pick up pace to twice that at the point where enemy aircraft show up on radar - I'd estimate that to bring them to intercept with your aircraft slightly before they can begin bombing TJ ground positions. Sorry I couldn't reply earlier, my connection died on me.

Exactly 60 seconds after recieving the transmission, 500 cruise missiles (tomahawk, harpoons and 5 AM-35 Silverhawk anti-sat missiles) launched from various points throughout the Southern area of Turkey. They were targeted at the beachhead at Latakia(ooc:assuming that's where you originally landed), their surface ships throughout the Aegean and Mediterranean close to IP territory, and their foward elements in Syria. Time varied to the different targets, but the last one was schedualed to hit in 10 minutes after launch. The Silverhawk were targeting the various spy sats that TJ had.

OOC: 10 minutes from launch, tomahawks and harpoons launched from southern Turkey... that tells me strike area very precisely, and I'll assume missile distribution based on what your current level of operational intel has looked like; I'll also assume about 300 are after ground targets in Syria. Latakia is just a bit north of where I landed, but the original beachhead = major target, no?

The beachhead, home to several depots, some light artillery, and recently arrived troops, was denuded of fixed material in a relatively short amount of time. Panicked troops fleeing the LZ in advance of the strikes headed straight for the mountains.

Strikes to forward elements in Syria came with no more than several minutes of warning; however, this was enough time for mobile formations to disperse to a certain degree. Casualties were relatively light. Forward fixed light artillery positions, bunkers, and ammunition depots, however, were less fortunate. Approximately 60 155mm light artillery positions, 40 ammunition dumps, 20 anti-air batteries, and 30 bunkers were rendered unusable.

The remainder of strikes, however, distributed with a high degree of dispersal against what radar would for the most part indicate as a plethora of small low priority targets (missile boats, light corvettes, a couple destroyers) and a few higher priority targets (TJS Ferret, TJS Last Fathom, the Tentacle II light cruisers), turned out to be less effective on the whole. Approximately 12 Sea Serpents, hovering in shallows that conventional wisdom would claim were "too shallow" for anything but a light boat and having a radar signature to match, were allocated only 1-3 missiles apiece - 1-3 missiles moving at 3/4 mach proving relatively easy targets for a three tiered point defense system, and the top-line composite armored redundant system destroyers being quite capable of absorbing a single missile hit. The heavier ships sitting off the Lebanese coast preparing to bombard systems were, in spite of their relatively high priority as targets, not within 10 minutes of as many launchers not already designated to ground targets. Nonetheless, 50 missiles distributed between the four of them managed to result in a grand total of seven direct hits through missile shield, anti-missile laser systems, and direct fire CIWS, five of these on the TJS Ferret - as it seemed an excellent, very visible, and easy to hit target. Unfortunately, it was also a very heavily armored target, capable structurally of shrugging off Harpoons striking any non-vulnerable apparatus, and quite capable of surviving direct hits to its 20" armor belt with Tomahawks. The foremost turret was disabled, and casualties ensued when a Tomahawk struck the air control tower, and a number of unslightly dents were produced. The TJS Last Fathom, struck with a single Harpoon, was only cosmetically damaged - unsurprising considering that its titanium based composite armor is in effect more substantial than that of the far larger TJS Ferret. A Tentacle II cruiser struck lost its 8" paired turret entirely to a Tomahawk strike, now having a large hole to aft.

A trio of Kraken destroyers within the given range of Turkish missile batteries were also rated relatively highly as targets; as the "biggest" apparent targets west of the Syrian targeting range, each was targeted with 5 missiles. This resulted in the sinking of two of the less sophisticated vessels and left the third dead in the water. The remaining 110 missiles were targeted, therefore, at approximately 100 small patrol and attack vessels, resulting in the sinking of 75 of them. (This is, in sooth, a very reasonable distribution of missiles and their results.)

However, the massed Tomahawk strike provoked immediate retaliation in kind - initial volley launch times from 2 minutes to 5 minutes afterwards, flight times in many cases out to 15 minutes or so in spite of the substantially faster nature of most of the missiles used - from Tahar Joblissan anti-shipping and cruise missiles. Naval elements within full range of striking back at Isolationist Peoples with Snake S missiles constitute nearly the entire Mediterranean fleet; thus, we find that* approximately 2300 supersonic Snake S** missiles with their high penetration rating, high speed, and 700 pound warheads have been launched in turn by naval elements alone. Approximately 1800 of these have been allocated to naval assets, with ~500 issued to counterbattery fire. Fixed positions in Crete and Greece are holding fire for the moment; a small number (~10) of hardened batteries on Cyprus have joined fire by sending ~200 Snakes in counterbattery fire, and ~200 at targets in Northern Syria, such as Army Group Bravo.

In the Aegean Sea, the Trauntul V stealth FAB's were tasked with distracting the escorts of any carrier, while abord the 2 Hover Carriers near Istanbul F-22's (modified, bought from Unum Veritas), Super Hornets and Intruders shot off the decks to attack the surface ships left over from the harpoon attacks.

Crete confirmed this notion by launching 120 TJF-3 Mongooses, 12 TJF-4 Javelins, and 12 TJF-2A Lightning Bolts in dedicated air superiority configurations to intercept and turning on two extremely powerful air radar stations. These would shortly be joined by carrier based assets from further south of Crete in the Mediterranean, namely 54 TJF-4 Javelins, 24 TJF-10 Chimeras, 36 TJF-3 Mongooses, and 48 TJF-7 Fireflies, all arranged for dedicated air superiority, and an additional 6 TJF-4 Javelins and 4 TJF-7 Fireflies arranged for electronic warfare and advanced radar supplementation.

TSR airbases are sending 12 TJB-2 Magus and 4 TJB-3 Cyclops bombers towards the Aegean and 8 TJB-3 Cyclops towards Syria.

As there are no full sized carrier assets in the Aegean, the Tarantul V boats will have difficulty distracting their escorts; however, they will find themselves engaging vessels every bit as stealthy and substantially meaner, should they survive their highly probable targeting by Snake missiles (OOC: unlikely, knowing the T5 missile boat and the producer and designer of them being our traditional bogey whose equipment we design ours to counter - sorry, your bad luck there), as A-boats, Sea Serpent destroyers, and Tahar Joblissan missile and armored H-PT boats prepare to engage them.

Given the opportunity, Sea Serpent destroyers operating in the Aegean will engage heavier IP naval assets - particularly carriers - with supersonic Sucker*** missiles - should any have survived earlier Snake missile strikes. All vessels will make free use of anti-air assets on board; all missile boats throughout Mediterranean will head into port or to mobile ammunition assets to reload.

Second waves from Cyprus air bases will include:

Easterly wave: 12 TJB-2 Magus bombers, 6 TJB-3 Cyclops, 300 TJF-3 Mongoose, 100 TJF-5 Albatross, 24 TJF-4 Javelin, 24 TJF-10 Chimera, 36 TJF-2A Lightning Bolt, 24 TJF-1 Fireball, 100 TJB-1 Mandrake.

Westerly Wave: 12 TJF-4 Javelin, 12 TJF-10 Chimera, 12 TJF-1 Fireball, 12 TJB-2 Magus, 6 TJB-3 Cyclops. (Westerly wave will head due west and then south around Crete to aid in the battle there.)

I don't have the link to his website at the moment where you can look at the stuff yourself, but would it be alright to use these forces. They operate on supercavitation-technology.

OOC: I'd rather you not, as most of the sub-carriers I've seen have been balanced out a bit wrong; in addition, it's the sort of thing my navy would have itself in fair number, and I'd really consider it not very modern tech myself, which is why I haven't pulled out those sort of things. Supercavitating torpedos, yes, those you will see me use, but supercavitating submarines are a bit of a different animal in design and function. Second, really big subs - boomer subs and the even larger submarines that would realistically be required to be a "subcarrier" - are particularly visible to aircraft overflying them in shallower, clearer seas.

The IP submarines will find themselves severely outnumbered**** in the water by TJ attack subs, some of may be "failing to run silent" as part of a team tactic to bait out enemy submarines once it becomes apparent that enemy submarines are going active in the water. In addition, light weight subs used primarily for scouting and intel will be quite ready to help the attack subs and naval helicopter assets find and hunt submarines. (Naval helicopter assets will be already searching for enemy ships and trying to avoid enemy planes all over the map...)

At the same time, the majority of AG Charlie left out of Al Hasakah towards the Euphrates Dam near Madinat ath Thawrah. ...which changes only slightly General Hakthrop's reactions, and that regarding the disposition of his armor reserve and distribution of contigency orders - deployed somewhat more westerly. This force will also come under TJ artillery and rocket fire from ground positions if it moves into position to be so struck.

*50 - Kraken destroyers x 7 Snake S each in initial strike volley = 350
7 - Squid cruisers x average of 20 Snake S each in initial strike volley = 140
9 - Tentacle II cruisers x average of 14 Snake S each in initial strike volley = 126
80 Serpent Light Missile Corvette x 3 Snake S + 3 Snake ER with boost phase discarded early each in initial strike volley = 480
90 Spitting Cobra Heavy Missile Boat x 3 Snake S +3 Snake ER with boost phase discarded early each in initial strike volley = 540
82 Goldfish Light Missile Boat x 2 Snake S +2 Snake ER with boost phase discarded early each in initial strike volley = 328
8 LSD x 2 Snake S each in initial volley = 16
13 LD x 5 Snake S each in initial volley = 65
25 x Sea Serpent destroyer with a cautious initial volley of 10 Snake S each = 250
2 Dolphin Escort Carrier x 2 SNake S each in initial volley (with plenty more to come) = 4
Not counted in this initial volley: Dreadnaughts, submarines. Good reason for that.

**Snake S missile is somewhat larger than a Tomahawk, much faster than the old subsonic missile, of fairly similar range, and mounts a smaller warhead, although it can easily cause just as much destruction due to its substantially high kinetic energy and its ability to penetrate approximately 19' of normal concrete before detonation. Top speed is mach 4.2; it is current although not yet widely propagated and produced technology. Being nigh six times faster than a Tomahawk also makes it much harder to shoot down, similar in this fashion to the raw speed advantage of soviet/russian/chinese supersonic anti-ship missiles.
***Sucker missile is largely based on the Granit missile; weight is 16,000 pounds, warhead is 2500 pounds, and mounts additional half ton of armor from what a missile its size would normally have as a skin.
****Looking at TO&E, my Mediterranean sub fleet (about 1/3 of my total fleet) has about twice the attack subs as you have submarines total between Black Sea and Mediterranean, in addition to about a hundred "solar subs" - light, extremely quiet scouts... and we are familiar with caterpillar drives and suchlike, yes, as well as rocket torpedos and the whole shebang of sub toys.

Empire radar stations located outside a few cities near the shore picked up the massive heat signitures to launch so many missiles. The commanders at each of these stations stared in disbelief at so many incoming missiles. Each one then gained composure, issuing rapid orders to the Patriot anti-missile batteries, SkyCleaner guns, and Viper missile platforms. SPY-1 radar batteries went to max power, to get all the data on the missiles they could. Dozens of Patriots sent anti-missiles into the air, but since not many incoming were headed towards the missile batteries, they were not effective overall. Sixteen patriot batteries, two SkyCleaner positions, and 12 Viper platforms were destroyed outright by the incoming missiles. Of the 500 incoming missiles, 84 were shot down or missed their targets.

AG Bravo had a little better luck than the fixed missile positions. While barely 4 minutes warning of launches, troops and heavy armor were able to disperse enough, though 5 Saber MBT's were disabled beyond repair by nearby blasts. Artillery took the brunt of the damage with 95 88mm guns being destroyed, as well as 10 MLRS and 8 each of 203mm and M109 howitzers being destroyed. Overall, 413 troops were killed in AG Bravo.

The Empire Navy was decimated. Not realizing that the carriers they were looking for were not there, the Tarantul V FAB's were caught in the cross-fire of missiles, subs and air units. Only one out of 20 was able to make it back to Istanbul under its own power. The Aegis cruisers in the Aegean Sea had a little better luck, with its SPY radar and tracking system having been recently modified to give it a better chance at destroying incoming missiles. However, due to the sheer number of missiles targeted at the navy there was no possible way to knock down a good number. 7 Aegis cruisers were hit due to their powerful radars attracking the missiles attention, with 5 sinking. One of the Hover Carriers was annialated, with over 100 missiles along hitting it before it sank to the bottom. In total, 110 ships were sunk, reducing the Empire Navy to a shell of its former self. The biggest losses were the Hover Carrier and the 12 battleships protecting it.

The subs fared a little better since they weren't under missile attack, but Empire Intelligence had underestimated the number of subs TJ would be able to bring down on the Empire subs. Several fell for the distracting scout subs, while the Seawolfs and Type 621's had a little better luck. Only 3 Type 621's were found and destroyed, with the rest retreating towards Istanbul harbor. 25 of 35 LA subs were lost, as well as 5 Seawolfs. As of this moment, the Empire Navy has lost 1/2 of its forces and are retreating towards the Black Sea.

The air ware fared better than the navy. The Super Hornets flew top cover, while the Intruders skimmed the water to avoid most radar coverage. The F-22's relyed on AWACS vectoring them in with their radars off, and were able to surprise the first few TJ aircraft by firing their missiles first. However, due to the number advantage of TJ aircraft, the Empire Naval Air units put up a brave yet doomed fight. Of 113 launched, 50 were downed by TJ units, and another 12 had to be ditched in the ocean by their pilots. Of the 107 luanched, 67 were either downed or ditched. Though a few Intruder pilots were able to get close to a few light small surface ships, the results of their strikes are unknown at this time.

Ground units continue to advance on TJ elements in Syria. Moving from Latakia, AG Bravo fought all the way down to Tartus while under continuing threat of naval bombardment. Foward scouting units have entered the city, but no forces have yet been commited to launching an attack on the city.

AG Charlie units were able to capture Ar Raqqah, downstream from the Euprates Dam. Fighting was tough, and casualties were high. Several Abrams tanks were hit by TJ at units, and a dozen APC's fell prey to traps laid by TJ engineers. But the overwhelming number of armor and troops pressed on TJ units in the city, forcing them to fall back or be destroyed. AG Charlie continues to advance as the first units of AG Hotel were being brought up to attack.

===================================

In other news, AG's Alpha and Gamma have captured Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan, completing a front on the Russian border that spans from the Black Sea to the Caspian Sea. They are currently fortifying that area to resist any attacks to be made there in the future.

Also, AG Delta has expanded its foothold in northern Iran down another 75 miles, approaching further into the central Iranian territory. While they are expanding, they are keeping an eye out on the expanding Armacorian units in southern Iran, though they will not attack due to the NAP with Armacor.

AG's Echo and Foxtrot continue to sit at the Turkey-Greece-Belgium border to prevent incursions from that area.

RE: Orders and Instructions

With the cease-fire agreement with TJ about Syria, AG Hotel is no longer needed on that front. AG Hotel is to dispatch immediately to north Turkey to assist AG's Echo and Foxtrot with the opening attacks on Bulgaria.

AG Bravo is to return to Turkey to refit and rearm.

AG Charlie is ordered to take control of territory under AG Bravo, fortifying our position in Syria. AG Charlie is to not, repeat NOT, advance past present captured territory nor engage any TJ elements unless fired upon. Elements of AG Charlie are also to secure the Saudi-Iraqi border agreed upon with our NAP with Armacor. AG Charlie will be in controll of northern Iraq to free up AG Delta.

AG Delta is to secure northern Iran, and capture Tehran if possible. Though it appears that Armacor is not totally fulfilling its agreements with us in staying out of Iran as previously agreed, AG Delta is to not, repeat NOT, engage any Armacor elements unless fired upon. Secure the front once elements of Armacor have been reached by our units. Especially pay attention to the oil lines being established to the Empire.

AG Alpha is to secure the border of Russia-Georgia-Armenia. Orders may follow to push into Chechnya, but at this time fortify AG Alpha's position.

AG Gamma is to proceed along the southern Caspian Sea and advance into Turkmenistan at fastest possible speed.

AG's Echo and Foxtrot are to prepare for attacks on Bulgaria, to be followed into Romainia, while fortifying our border with TJ elements pushing up through Greece. Do not engage TJ elements unless fired upon first.

***Orders to Empire Navy***

The Empire Navy is to return to bases in the Black Sea to refit, repair and rearm after the devestating attacks. There the Navy is to build up its strength again.

***Orders to Empire Air Forces***

Units attached to AG forces are to move with AG forces. Static air groups are to continue cover flights of Empire territory. Recon forces are authorized to begin overflights of Bulgaria, Romania, Chechnya, Turkmenistan, Iran, southern Ukraine, and southern Russia by the Caspian Sea.

Empire News Report

In a release today, the Council of Defense updated the citizens of the Empire today with news new invasions happening. These strikes are happening on all fronts. Southern Bulgaria is being attacked by AG's Echo and Foxtrot, with AG Hotel in rear defense and also to fortify captured territory. In the north, AG's Alpha and Bravo (which was remaned and rearmed after campaining in Syria) attacked into Southern Russia, making almost 75 miles in the opening attacks. The city of Groznyy is within artillery range, and efforts to lay seige to the city are under way, though it is expected that the seige will not take long. Also, AG Delta is making headway by attacking into Turkmenistan.

And in stunning news it has been announced that paratroopers, making their debut in this war, have landed and have almost captured the city of Aqtau in Kazakhstan along the Caspian Sea. With this cities capture, it will serve as a port in which to send men and material to aid in the expansion of that beachhead.

On a final note, the Chairman of the Council of Defense, Dominus Mark, has announced that a draft will be conducted within the next week. This comes as the army is putting forces together for a planned addition to the already serving Army Groups, in order to fortify borders and keep the expansion going.

TJAF elements, noticably the robust TJF-7 Firefly*, which requires little more than a 500' strip of dirt to take off and land, have been closely supporting the Bulgarian offensive, striking centers of stiff resistance.

Elements of the Third Army (18th and 22nd Tumens), supplemented by the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th Greek Tumens, have begun advancing northeast to reinforce AGs Echo and Foxtrot, providing additional recon, special operations, mobile light armor support, and spotting for supplementary cruise missile strikes from Greece if needed.

Greek partisans have also begun heading north into Macedonia and Albania, quietly.

*And of course also particularly the omnipresent TJF-3 Mongoose, and the traditional cheap ground attack craft, the TJF-5 Albatross.

From: Chairman, Council of Defense

The following are orders for all AG's currently in theater;

AG Alpha: Halt advance and hold position. Dig in. Prepare AT traps. Fortify current position along the whole front. Be prepared for sneak attacks from nation of Maltose. Intel suggests most likely route of attack from Ukraine, which Maltose is in the process of conquering.

AG Bravo: Halt advance and hold position. Same orders as AG Alpha. Send recon units out to find best defensive position.

AG Charlie: No new orders. Patrol border in Syria, Iraq and Iran. Keep fortiying your position.

AG Delta: No new orders. Continue advance into Uzbekistan from Turkmenistan. Fortify border with Armacor in all sectors. Assist Tahar Joblis in their move east whenever possible or needed.

AG Echo: Halt at Bulgaria-Romania border. Fortify positions. Be on the alert for possible missile attacks or other attacks from Maltose in Ukraine. Return fire if fired upon first.

AG Foxtrot: Halt at Bulgaria-Romania border. Same orders as AG Echo. Be alert.

AG Gamma: Fortify border with The Macabees in Austrialia. Prepare to invade north into New Guenia(sp?) and surrounding islands.

AG Hotel: Reinforce paratroopers in Kazakstan. Expand beachhead there. Assist Tahar Joblis assests moving east whenever possible, but priority is on own defense and fortifications.

AG India: Move newly formed forces to Samsun. Prepare for possible opening hostilities with Maltose.

Empire News Report

Papua New Guinea is currently being invaded by elements of AG Gamma. Landing at the port of Daru, the soldiers of AG Gamma acted fast and captured the city hall and other government buildings. Locals, while stunned at the speed of the takeover, did not resist in force, as the Empire had initiated a radio campaign aimed at putting to ease the citizens of New Guinea. While there were a few locals that did resist, casualties have been light to Empire troops.

With the capture of Daru, the Empire has a port at which to reinforce itself among the many islands throughout the Australian Pacific area. More forces are to follow those already on New Guinea as they are produced from factories being set up in Australia. Soon, the Empire will control the whole island, and several around it.

Message from Valencia:

We are currently at a very precarious position in Africa and with current forces the war there can be a complete debacle. Thus high command must ask you to sign an alliance with us and help us in the war agaisnt Amacor. Appealing to you would be the large quatities of land which you would harness in the Middle East.

We are currently also looking fowards towards Super American XV Man to attack into the Middle East also. The knocking out of such a large power can be prime in the future of this war.

***Secret Encrypted Burst Transmission to Macabees***

While we would welcome an attack on Armacor that would further our gain in the Middle East, we cannot allot sufficient resources to help in a campaing against Armacor, due to rising hostilies in the north with Maltose. Only once that threat is dealt with can we consider moving against Armacor. We can engage in covert actions, but outright hostilites are materially negligable for us at this time.

***Intell estimate for northern theater***

Priority: Top Secret/Code Red
Reliability: 8

After several reviews of current intelligence on Maltose and their official statements, plus review of current positions of military units and tasks, the following are the most likely estimates of the current situation:

1. Maltose, despite official and diplomatic messages to our officials and the press, is set upon hostilities with the objective of taking southern Russia by force;

2. Maltose wants Kazakhstan, where our forces are currently expanding operations, to blunt our attacks in order to bottle us up with no chance of expanding north;

3. It is highly anticipated that Maltose will attack first, most likely in the early dawn, within the next week, at a maximum of two weeks from now;

4. It is recomended that additional forces be dispatched to our forces in southern Russia and Kazakhstan immediately, for the purpose of bolstering our defenses against armored attack;

5. After an initial attack from Maltose, the objective should be to stall their advance, after which we could bring in more forces as is needed;

6. A three-pronged attack from our forces will most likely catch Maltose off guard and off balance, causing a breakout in at least one area to be exploited;

7. It is recommended that other nations be courted to help in the case we are attacked;

8. Forces in the area should be raised to Defcon 1 to prepare;

9. Forces from AG Chalie in Iran/Iraq/Syria should be relocated to reinforce positions in southern Russia. Units from AG Delta should be redeployed as well.

10. As needed, troops can be drafted in case of a major breakthrough by Maltose in one area, though that outcome is considered unlikely due to the amount of forces in the area to counter Maltose.

Forces are to be redeployed immediately to the appropriate locations, attached to this communique'.
22-11-2003, 20:17
***Orders to Command, all forces***

To: Command, AG's Alpha - India
Command, Empire Navy
Command, Empire Air Force

From: Chairman, Council of Defense

The following are directives for the continuning operations of our forces throughout the world, in order to meet possible threats indicated by previous intell estimates:

AG Alpha:
Keep up alert status at Defcon 1. While the situation with Maltose is cooling off some, it is still very likely that Maltose will attack as they see our expanse a threat to their security. Send additional recon units out to scout the terrain and keep an eye on Maltoseian troop movements, but do not engage unless fired upon first.

AG Bravo:
Proceed north to Astrakham, then east to link up with our forces in Kazakhstan to complete the encirclement of the Caspian Sea, thus denying any other nation access to it without our permission. Do not, repeat NOT, engage any Maltoseian units encountered along the way. If Maltoseain units are spotted, fall back and try to flank them while remaining close to the Caspian Sea. If not possible to complete the encirclement, return to former positions alongside AG Alpha to prepare defenses there against any attack by Maltose.

AG Charlie:
The 5th-8th Armored, 2nd-4th Infantry, and 3rd Air Corps are hearby redeployed to reinforce AG's Alpha and Bravo in the northern theater. This is a temporary measure, as the threat of Maltose requires the redeployment of these forces north to counter. Remaining forcese are to continue patrolling Syria DMZ, Iraq and Iran border with Armacor. Industries are to be built to support assests in the area, along with a basic infastructure to support the inhabitants of the area. Military restrictions in place since conquests are hearby relaxed, curfews are abolished. Special attention should be paid to the preparation of armor traps, against both Armacor and VX. While relations with Tahar Joblis have cooled considerably lately, we do not fully know their intentions and should have preparations for any outbreak of hostilities in the area, with the plan of capturing their bases in Syria, Lebenon and Isreal.

AG Delta:
Forces are to continue at Defcon 1. Preparations for defenses along the western/northwestern border are to continue, with special attention of light armor traps. Industry is to be established as soon as possible to sustain our efforts there in the event of the opening of hostilities with Maltose in Kazakhstan. Air assests are to start aerial recon of the border, along with minimul ground recon assists. In addition to fortifying the border (if that position is overrun), fortifications are to be started along the Zahyyq River 200 miles inland. A stand should be made there. Continue preparations.

AG Echo:
Attack into Romania, towards the capitol of Bucharest. Continue past 50 miles, then stop. Remain alert, as Maltose may counterattack. Send air recon ahead of forces to scout out any possible Maltose movements. Be prepared for further orders regarding Romainia, along the eastern half of the country.

AG Foxtrot:
Attack into Romania, towards the city of Tirgu-Jiu. Stop at far side of city. Remain alert for possible counterattacks from Maltose in the north or Artitsa in the west. Set up fortifications, with attention to armor traps and AA sites, along with anti-missile batteries. Await further orders regarding Romaina, along the western half of the country.

AG Gamma:
Set up industries in Australia. Build major ports for the building of the to be formed India Fleet. Continue fortifying border with The Macabees. Halt expansion in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. Set up local infastructure that was damaged/destroyed in conquest. Military restrictions are lifted, no curfews. Local inhabitants are to be given some local control of their governments, though with our oversight to insure our interests are not compromised. Naval bases are a high priority. Several of the outer islands in our control are to be set up as missile bases in both AA, SAM and anti-shipping assests. Multiple batteries are to be constructed.

AG India:
Forces are to be redeployed to the northern theater, behind AG's Alpha and Bravo, to be used as reinforcements in case of Maltoseian breakout.

Naval assests in Black Sea:
Forces are to remain there for current time, to aid in any attack on Maltoseian forces close to shore. A MOBO is to be constructed with accompanying fleet for protection, in order to perform amphibious operations against Maltose upon opening of hostilities. Production of missile cruisers, subs, and frigates are to be increased 3x fold in order for our reentry to the Mediterranean. The lessons from our conflict with Tahar Joblis are to not be repeated. Therefore, naval assests are to be given upgraded armor even at the cost of some speed. More carriers are also to be built, but at the current pace.

Empire Air Force:
Infastructure is being set up in all conquered areas for the expansion of the Air Force in order to coordinate with our ground and naval forces. Air Superiority fighters are to be given special priority so as to deny any other nation that advantage over us. Ground bombers, such as the A-29, are to be increased in production as well, with priority being sent to the northern theater. Overall, production is to increase 2x fold, to cover our operations in all theaters.

Secret Encrypted Message to Command, AG's Alpha, Bravo, Echo & Foxtrot

Message from Chairman of Defense Dominus Mark:

The growing threat that is Maltose needs to be dealt with and soon. We have stopped their supply of oil, but that might inflame them more. AG's are already on guard, so any elevation of alertness would be strenious on the troops. Recon is to be continued, with the added objective of penetrating Maltose lines in order to map the terrain behind them. Terrorist activities are to be initiated against soft targets of military value. Get in touch with local city/town leaders, offering them incentives to revolt or uprise against Maltose rule. Black Ops are being run through The Zodiac Killer units, though AG units are given authorization to strike if the opportunity presents itself. Plans are currently being drawn up on the most efficient way to knock Maltose out of the war.
