This news was greated with drinks in Walmington, and a huge sigh of relief in Ceyloba.

Some bafflement was felt, but it mattered not. While the Asians were fighting each other, Walmington would be free to tackle Jerry.

The Hainanese Parliament aproved a decleration of war on Wabu-Dhati 83-17.

And our military is as fine as many a european one, we have T-34-85's, I-6 jet fighters [OOC: MiG-15], and a class of 88,000 ton displacement battleships.
12-09-2003, 12:20
Calarcians in the Gallanesia/Gallachina colonies were immensly cheered, now the nasty asinans to their north would be busy amoungst themselves, leaving Calarcian territory safe for a while.

((Okay... right. I think we can deal with this this way. Right? I think it makes sense to add 5 million to Wabu-Dhati's population. I wanted to enter the war personally, but WoS had doubts. Anyway, Hainan... trying to remember... Korea, right?))

Hopefully soon, dunno really.

What our fleets were magically bypassed?
Roania
12-09-2003, 12:31
OOC: No, not really. Where are your fleets positioned? I don't want to hunt that information down.
12-09-2003, 12:32
hmm. I've 24 of my latest planes deploying to Sumatra, so the Dragonfly has competition as the best there, same top speed, but mine should turn better.

But 88K tonner BBs? Oh dear, thats a lot more than my 15.4" gunned BBs.
Wabu-Dhati
12-09-2003, 12:33
Not you... Hainan. Anyone rping Australia?

And can we keep the pacific front as close to reality as possible, or is that impossible?

OOC:
I have 1 fleet docked and one prowling the south china sea.... chiang has some WW1 type ships sailing about his coastline.

They have 12 18" guns.

I had to scrap 3 battleships to help with their building, too.
Wabu-Dhati
12-09-2003, 12:36
Okay. How many in each fleet. Specifically the one closest to Chiang. And also, because I don't really want to hunt any thing down, do we have a map of Chiang around here?

Sure, but you see, its called radar, and he has a fleet.

And let him respond to your fleets before your landing.

Also- my fleet will probably go right for japan! Nothing like flattening tokyo!
Wabu-Dhati
12-09-2003, 12:39
((Doesn't seem that realistic, going directly for Japan. Let me have some rping. And no one answered whether someone is rping Australia. Are they NPC? Or NEC [Non Existent Country]?))

Think southern VIetnam.

2nd fleet [Ill post specs later]:
2 Fear class battleships
2 Independence class battleships
3 Lanka class battleships
1 Haikou class battlecruiser
2 Parcel class battlecruisers
3 Ark Royal carriers
3 Hope class heavy cruisers
4 VLad Olda class heavy cruisers
5 Vanyukh class light cruisers
14 Mersy class destroyers
6 Fearless class destroyers
8 Tongishi class destroyers
GTG now.

Um... if we're doing this realistically...

Actually, no one start anything. I'll be on tomorrow. I'm just gonna check the boards right now, but I'll be off soon.

I imagine Australia is sort of as France and Britain. They were/are sort of played by DK, based on what really happened.

Presumably it'll sit there defending itself and doing little else. If anyone lands they'll probably get a face full of AC1 Sentinal (ripping their Asian tanks apart with 25pdr shells) then..lost in the outback. I dunno, DK largely speaks for Britain, so maybe he'd have something to say for the empire too. [shrug]

As far as I've been concerend with Aussie and PNG, they're filled with jungle, dust, posionous critters or critters with big teeth. no people of note. and no reason to settle them. I havn't gone so far as to say Aussie doesn't exist, but I've ignored it. besides, if I wasn't I'd be there now rather than india, since it's closer to Calarca/NZ.

I vote it's a NPC/NEC/Ignored.

Reet, I'll go along with that, since Calarca is the nearest power and could have taken it long ago if he wanted, while Japan was locked in the dark ages.

"The first good news we've had all war," was the estimation of Minister of Foreign Affairs Lord John MacIntyre. Japan, with its Marcus Island base just eighty miles off the Commonwealth's south shore, had long been the nightmare of Iansislean strategists. Now that the Japanese had been manuvered into a war with the South-East Asian powers - which would delay their offensive, giving Iansisle time to reinforce Sarawak and Burma - Iansisle could act out against them, declaring an embargo on Iansislean oil, steel, and coal. The Americans, who had been reluctant to let Iansisle use their Panama canal while Iansislean steel fed the Japanese war machine, would now probably come about, and at last the Commonwealth could show Walmington it was not a dead-weight ally.

Nân, Maï province, the Sanctified Holy Empire of Chiang Maï
"Damnit! Japan declares war suddenly, when we're planning a major offensive against Iansisle, and my Diamondhawk drops dead?of a heart attack?!? is that any way for a decent, loyal, soldier to die?"
Servants shrunk from the wrath of their Sanctified Holy Empress.
"Well, what are you waiting for?!? drag the old bastard's body away!do you think i want to have a corpse under my nose?!?"
The servants-still half-cowering-hurried to do her bidding.
"Where the hell is Val?!? can't i count on any of my military commanders?!?You, there!fetch me Brasshawk Narya!"
"That will not be necessary, your Sanctified Magnificence.I took the liberty to prepare a briefing on our readiness to repulse the invasion."
Val stepped through the doorway to the Steel Chamber, and calmly took in the scene.
"Boutra's dead?"
"Excellent, Diamondhawk. And yes, i fear you're predecessor dropped dead of a lightning heart attack. So, how bad is it?"
"If they manage to land, we'll be facing the worst military crisis ever seen in the Sanctified Holy Empire.Or the Kingdom of Siam, for that matter. However, the prime landing area-the jungles between the recently revitalized Haiphong-Hanoi area and the fortified border around Quang-tri- will require them to pass through the Gulf of Tonkin. With the aid of Hainan-they just declared war on Japan and sent us a message of support- we could make this a very costly idea indeed.Another possible invasion tactic could be to attack High Annam from the North, passing through China-the border area is controlled by Chiang Kaï-Shek, who as we well know is an american puppet-dictator- or to land in Siam province, either in the Sukhotaï-Bangkok industrial bassin or in the peninsula stretching to the Southwest. In the latter case, their alliance with Germany and Ercolana could cause them problems with the Calarcan troops in Gallanesia. The industrial basin would likely be suicidal [check the results of the Dieppe raid in the real war ;) ] so by far the most likely immediate threat is in Viet-nam.Our forces are unfortunately deployed largely on the other side of the Sanctified Holy Empire, in preparation for operations Swooping Cormorant and Golden Fist.Luckily, they all have direct train ligns to Nân [the Maï rail system is centered on Nân and Sukhotaï, fans out from both like a couple of stars, there are some other minor ligns also] so we can move them to here, then ive got a deployment plan ready to move them to Hanoi and then deploy them via the Hanoi/Quang-Tri lign. Also, we are all set for the mass-mobilization originally planned against Iansisle, and can levy a million troops as soon as we receive the word. For the Navy, we finally have Haiphong ready to support the fleet- i took the freedom to order the bulk of our force from Bangkok to Haiphong, and to go on immediately with the launch of the Haiphong from it's homonymous city.We can easily move the Flying Corps to operate in the East."
"How long will all this take?"
"The fleet? a few days. The land forces? a week. The Flying Corps?twenty-four hours, your Sanctified Magnificence."
"Excellent, Val.Please convene the Military Council, Diamondhawk of the Empire."

Well Karachi is a major, major holding of Ercolana. Similar to Pearl Harbor. But it is more heavily defended, and watched by both submarines and surface patrol boats. An Attack there would seem to be of strategical importance but so would attacking my capital of Troma, important but not easy.

[nods] I have a few other pretty vague plans for taking the war to the enemy rather than sitting back and taking it, but it's likely that Atlantic Walmington's primary interests may conflict with our Pacific allies'.
