“This is Stone Hill bringing to you live the state of the sector address, spoken by Emperor Alexander Nemerov himself. It seems that an earth-shattering announcement is about to be made regarding Steel Butterfly and its allies.”

Emperor Nemerov shakes hands with General Rei Warheit and then walks to the podium. Immediately hands fly up and people start shouting questions, but all goes silent when the Emperor commands it.

“Most of you are here to find out what important announcement is being made. The State’s announcement last week was no tactic to get you to watch. Only in death does duty end. This motto of ours is as close to the truth as a saying can get. It is time we of Steel Butterfly forge a new path, one without the baggage of the past. Tonight, I regretfully but proudly announce our resignation from the Dominion formerly known as GDODAD. It is therefore stated that all of the Orion Sector and all of Orion space, ruled by the Steel Empire, is free of GDODAD/Dominion control.”

The crowd was shocked for a moment, but then stood up and applauded. Nemerov silenced them once more.

“GDODAD is nowhere near what it used to be. Its power and reputation and diminished beyond all hope of coming back. I feel bad for those like TGF Bob of The Silver Turtle and Nod from the Brotherhood of Nod. Those men and others were truly good friends and allies on the individual level. However, I will not condemn my people to be known as members of a dying if not dead alliance. With its reputation stained, we cannot take part in what was once the fear of all NationStates. It is now…a haven for warmongerers and newbies. In the next month or so, (OOC: Game time) a new alliance will be born, one which outreaches even the strongest alliance possible. Until then, we wish you good luck. GDODAD, victory belongs to those who want it the most and who want it the longest. I’m tired of half-assed attempts at reforms and the horrible outlook of the once-great alliance. May the best be with you…you have served our nation well…in the past.”

To Emperor Alexander Nemerov of the Empire of Steel Butterfly; Greetings.

I applaud your decision, though I realize it most likely brings you little joy. As I have so often said before, the old alliance has had its name too stained to be truly respected anymore, and allowed those who have no business meddling in the affairs of their betters running amok and only further soiling its reputation. There are those of us who realize that alliances are more than simple social status markers, or a big stick to shake whilst nipping at others heels.

I will watch with interest the formation of this new alliance you speak of. As you may know, I took part in forming one myself not too long ago, with many of the same concerns you seem to have in mind. Having never been much impressed with many of the alliances of today, and to date, resisting joining all but these two, I think you can well judge the level of seriousness I hold such matters to.

May you have good fortune in your endeavors, and with luck and careful statesmanship, be able to maintain your ties with those of your former colleagues who you may still hold in esteem. While our methods may be different, I believe we hold some common purpose. Perhaps in the future, we might make headway towards tentative diplomatic ties, depending on how things progress? I would at the least hope to leave channels open to such.

It saddens us to see such an important ally leave his alliance. While there surely must have been some legitimate impetus for this momentous decision, the Imperium will continue to endorse its allies in the Dominion.

We congratulate Steel Butterfly on this move. Ever since the Death of Micheal Tora, relations between ADK and the GDODAD/Dominion have slowly collapsed.

With the end of WWV, we saw many members of GDODAD leave, and head count.

And with the end of the 25 Years' War(RF-ADK Wars), we also saw the end of the last Dominion-RF conflict.

I believe that soon we shall see the Dominion fall totally, and an alliance of nations such as The Silver Turtle, The Brotherhood of Nod, and others form a new, more 'user freindly' alliance.

In any case, congratulations, and may relations between us both improve!

I hereby declare the dissolusion of the Dominion. The Alliance no longer exists and the charter is hereby null and void for all nations that have singed it.

I think we are all still allies, sorta. More like really good friends. GDODAD might be gone for me, but I won't betray any of the nations, as I have forged friendships with them all. I still consider them allies, and will help most of them if they are in trouble.

the whole underwater bubble thing was so horribly done that it led to alot of investigations...which led to a new member list of the dominion...which led to the realization that it wasn't nearly as powerful as everyone though...which led to the spineless enemies of it finally getting the balls to speak up after the fear factor went away.

the whole problem with the alliance is that we had a poor image. We looked ugly.

Then our ancient enemy is truly dead, unless TST or Nod comes back to dispute that. Even so, they are no longer our ancient enemy, but the pitiful remains of it. We shall remember the great battles be fought, always.
With the fall of our enemy, and the end of a goal, as co-founder of the alliance, I declare AMND officially defunct. There is no longer any point in keeping up the pretense of its existance.

He says in this thread that he'll be starting one. And I'm just a bit annoyed that he didn't notify us first, while anyone could see that more people would follow him leaving, that he immediately shut down the Dominion boards, while it would hurt noone to keep them open a few more days, and that he will be starting his own alliance, which to me implies that he wasn't happy with the Dominion, but instead of trying to change the Dominion or at least state his problems with it, he just leaves.

Also, I don't want to go into detail, but Klamath left so often that he was barely ever there, and consequently not firmly cemented in the power structure. And the other founders let their nations die before the GDODAD was strong, making them of next-to-no consequence when they died.
