Take the Red pill
We have existed in the shadows for many years, but now it is time to start a revolution. Your countries are not real, they are merely virtual constructions, made by machines that control us as part of a virtual existance that we call the matrix. Join the resistance! Zion has prepared a mass unplugging capability, we can plausably unplug your entire country. Join us in the real world, and together we can fight the eternal battle against the machines. Since this has become open warefare, be on your guard for Agents, they are everywhere, and they are nowhere. They will hunt you down, if they suspect that you will join the revolution, but give me a message, and I can get to you first.

pleease, every one who has fought and agent has died,
This line is tapped, so I will be brief. I admit, most of you are not ready to be unplugged. However, the time has come when we must unite against the machines. Unfortunately, noone can be told what the matrix is, you have to see it for yourself. If you wish for one of your people to be unplugged, ask and I will contact you. He will be your liason in the real world, and will be safe for the moment in Zion.

I don't wanna be unplugged. I like my world.
As I say, you are probably not ready. We do not pretend that the real world is anything but a barron desert. The sky is scorched and our only city is near the Earth's core where it is still warm. But have you not felt your whole life that there was something strange about this world? Take the red pill, and see how deep the rabbit whole goes...

Quite a few civilians die. It works well enough.
The doctrine that the Most Serene Republic of Sci does not exist, that it is only a virtual construct in a computer simulation, is patently false; what conceivable evidence can you offer to suggest that everything we see isn't real? None. Scians are rational people, and refuse to believe in crazy superstitions. We will live in our world, the only world which we know exists.
You want us to exchange our "many lush forests" for a barren desert? Reality for something that sounds like it came out of a science fiction movie? Sounds like a bad trip to me; I'll have none of your pills.
The bureaucrat Morpheus from the Rogue Nation of the Nebuchadnezzar has clearly gone off the deep end.

Strange, Consider this Morpheus. If none of this is real, but something run by machines, then what about the nation's that are themselves AI's? How do they fight the machines. Are they being controlled by outside forces, another machine that is able to out perform them? if this is the case then your motto needs to be changed to 'Fight the Evil Machine's'.
Yet what defines them as Evil? How can you prove to us that what you say is true, one cannot simply state that it is and have us believe you, come show us that what you say is real. No tricks through, no doing near impossible, inexplicable things after all I myself can do them, and I am not a machine. I am an Psycker perhaps all that you are feeling and seeing is simply the manisfestation of some unknown, to yourself, power.
Malian of Tor Yvresse
It appears that I must answer some questions. I have often said that if you are not one of us, you are one of them. Agents are not to be reconed with; do not assist them in any way. In response to the claim that I am a beurocrat, I will tell you that I have personally faught this war for my entire life. I have been captured, tortured, and almost driven beond the reaches of sanity by Agents. Yet those who have been unplugged will testify to the correct state of my mind. In response to those who think me wrong because a supposedly virtual missile will kill, bear in mind that if you die in the matrix, you die in the real world also. As to swapping forests for a desert, some people take your view. What is so bad about the matrix? The answer is this; you were born into bondage; born into a prison you cannot see or touch; a prison for your mind. What is the matrix? Control. The matrix is oppresion, in order to turn a human being, into a 240 volt battery. Join me in the real world.

i came here to tell you how this is going to end, i'm gonna stop tlking to you and fire up the ignore cannon, were we go from there is a choice i leave to you
The Oracle has spoken of a land known as "England" in the real world. There it is prophisised that the second coming of The One will occure not on thursday the 15th, but on friday the 23rd. You must see the truth: there is no Thursday 15th release date.

Your weapon is based in the matrix, it is of no consequence in the real world. What are you trying to achieve? The Agents are surely in control of your organisation. There is but one way to settle this. We will agree on a location. I will send The One. You will no doubt send an Agent, but even if not can we agree as humans (as I believe you are one) that you will only send one individual of your choice. Then we will decide who is of little consequence, and should merely be ignored.

Two tall and Cadaverous figures were sitting in hard iron chairs in the highest chamber of a great tower, somewhere in the island of Kalessin. Outside, the wind was howling, but inside, if possible, it was even colder. One of the figures spoke in a monotone, his voice fitting in well with the freezing air in its dead regularity:
"I have completed my studies in the form of weapon know as an 'Ignore Cannon'"
The other turned to him, pale blue eyes twinkling like tiny icicles in the shadows of his robe:
"What have you discovered?"
"The 'Ignore Cannon' seems to fire a beam of unreality, which locks on to tiny fragments of preexisting unreality, which we have decided to call 'godmod particles'. The more 'godmod particles' there are in a target, the more effective the ignore cannon. In cases of extreme 'godmod particle' concentration, this can result in a whole nation being wiped from existance. However, the 'ignore cannon' seems to be completely ineffective against targets with a low concentration of 'godmod particles'."
He looked out the window:
"Also, we believe that the effects of an 'ignore cannon' can be cancelled by firing another 'ignore cannon' at the original weapon."
Count Salech al Yacdim followed his gaze, sending his mind streaking out into the world:
I wonder how dense a concentration of 'godmod particles' there is around those fools on The Nebuchadnezzar? They are obviously insane, but there doesn't seem to be too much inherent unreality hanging around them yet.

I don't think it's spam. It's mildly interesting, and a unique idea. Kinda.
It seems that many people do not wish to accept the truth. Before he died a horrible death, a man who I believed to be a friend was reported to say that ignorance is bliss. Perhaps so. Never the less, you must all decide what you are fighting for; yourselves? happyness? Stability? Beauty? Or what about truth? Freedom? Humany? I fight for the last three, and I would die for them. You must not feel theatened by the truth. I do not claim to have 2000ft robots, incredible planet destroying magic or million-strong armies. As yet I have a small force of those sent to me by people who want to know the truth, and who want to exist in the real world, no matter how bad it may be. My only very powerful weapon is The One, but do not forget that my enemy is not you. I am eternally engaged in the ongoing struggle against the machines, and Oracle has fortold that The One may be tested by them beond even his limits. I cannot make you join me, all I can do is show you the door, and help you to realise the truth: There is no spam.

The security guard flew across the lobby of the supposed government building, slamming against the opposite wall, cracking or else shattering the tiles behind him, leaving dust to rain down on him after he slumped to the ground.
"Backup! We need backup!"
Twenty or so swat team members flooded into the lobby, one by one aiming their weapons at the solitary individual standing in the metal detector."
"FREEZE!"
He didn't. They all simultaniously opened fire, the only sound audible was the crack of gunfire. The noise was uninterupted for around seven second. Then, when it stopped the ringing of cartridges hitting the floor was almost as deafening. Then the silence seemed louder still. The guards looked in amazement at around 300 bullets suspended perfectly still in mid air. Then, like a brief shower of rain they all clattered to the ground. A look halfway between horror and wonder was on their faces.
"My god..."
A man in a grey suit walked into a large white room overlooking the city, and confronted a similarly dressed man standing over a chair, in which was seated a terrified looking girl. Various rneedles and implements were on a small table behind him. The newly entered man turned to the other, emotionlessly.

New breakthrough the scientists of this most prestige country have learned how to plug themselves into this so called matrix!
"Theres a fair bit of commotion on the roof of the goverment building probably another resistance group im going to help them out over"reported the gaurd on patrol.
"Roger that out"crackled a voice on the other side of the signal as the helicopter landed on the roof.
As two Cuanarsarn(special forces) stepped out and began firing on the guards on the roof before engaging them in hand to hand combat killing all of the guards they looked at the lone agent who was standing ontop of dead resistance fighters before one of the Caunarsarn walked up to him and began fighting him.
The agent threw a punch at the man before the man caught it twisted it around breaking his arm before the agent rained blow upon blow on the soldier before the soldier nearly threw him over theedge as the soldier lifted the agent up choking him he sneered before he snapped his neck and threw him overthe edge.
The agent looked indifferently at the destruction visible on the numerous security moniters in the room. One by one he disconnected them, before turning tothe girl in the chair.
"As you can see, Ms. Deng, we've had our eye on you for some time. It appears you have been living two lives. On the one hand you are a respectable-"
CRASH!
The door flew off its hinges, clashing on the ground.
"Mr. Anderson!"
"My name, is Neo."
The Agent smiled slightly, then took out his desert eagle and through it to the ground. Neo was unarmed.
"Let the girl go."
"Of course. She is of little consequence. I knew you would come."
He snapped the girls constraints effortlessly. She staggered out. Neo turned to her.
"Go."
"You understand, Mr Anderson, that it is of little consequence whether or not you kill me here."
"That doesn't make it any less fun."
The agent rushed at him with a lighning fast blow. Neo ducked, grabbing his other arm as the fist aimed for his head shattered the concrete behind him. Neo hurled the Agent across the room, shattering the huge glass windows and sending the Agent falling down the 90 foot drop to the street below. Neo watched, calmly as the Agent body crumpled on the pavement.

hehe....pot callin the kettle black.
Although it is the official belief of my government experts that you are insane, your theories have spread to the populace, who demand that I ask one important question. Where are the dolphins?
If, as you say, the beuteous aquatic mammals who frolic in our oceans (and not, as a clerical error in our tour guide suggests, in our 'lush forests') are simply artificial constructs, where are they in the 'real world'? Are they dead? used to power machines as 'batteries'? Or do they not exist, and dolphins were invented by the machines to keep our people content? Some of our people do think that dolphins are too perfect a creature to be true.
Yours
Alan Griffith, Prime Minister of the Principality of Dolphin-Lovers, and Party Leader of the Dolphin-Friendly Liberal Alliance.

OOC: Perhaps it is a siver pot. Anyway, how on earth do you spam your own thread? Surely that's a contradiction (except for a very small amount of "the matrix has you"s that I posted).
IC: You pose an interesting question. The majority of animals are little more than computer programs, designed to make humans feel at home. However on one exploration we uncovered field of large cats; tigers and lions, being grown. You see below or above a certain size the animal is too inefficient in terms of its production of bio-electricity to warrent use by the machines. However, the dolphin is, by my estimations, almost exactly the right size. It is likely therefore, that, strange as it may sound, your dolphins are indeed in the real world, and plugged into the matrix. We have yet to find any hard evidence of this in the real world, however.

A scout craft jumped off of the hyperstring it had been riding near a far-distant planet. Its sky was black, and emitted large amounts of radiation. "It appears to be a machine world."
'Analysis confirmed. Machines do not exist without creators. Any recognisable life-forms present?'
"Unknown. A closer look is needed. Sensors cannot read below the cloud cover."
Machines aren't all bad, we are currently building robots and machines for warfare purposes (not even near completion) and servants, menial tasks that is but soon we hope to advance.
"The Machine is strong. We must purge the weak, hated flesh and replace it with the blessed purity of metal. Only through permanence can we truly triumph, only through the Machine can we find victory. Punish the flesh. Iron in mind and body. Hail the Machine!"

"We've penetrated the cloud cover. Standby. Ooo. Well, this is interesting. We've come out of the clouds over what appears to be a large breeding facility for humans."
'Humans? How could they be here?'
"It is reasonable to assume that the machines brought them here, but that implies that they originated somewhere else. Somewhere that they could get humans, or human genetic material, at least."
'Sol?'
"Most likely, sir."

Mister Morpheus,
I represent the Emperor of Grebulonis in the investigation of this so-called Matrix.
However interesting your claims are to our scientists and philosophers, the Emperor demands that you cease broadcasting to our citizens at large. The Empire's foundations were rocked by our first contact with a non-human race. We do not need your messages to comepletely shatter them.
Please limit all communications to myself on this channel only. To avoid a panic your messages have been discredited as a hoax by Information Services. Any other attempts at communications to any of our planets or citizens, except myself, will be blocked.
As a final note, the Council of Advisors to the Emperor has tasked me to investigate your claims. I can be at any location you specify in a matter of weeks. Following this message are my galactic coordinates.

Reality is a fickle thread of nothingness that spans the lengh of infinity. My Shadow Dancers have often been mistaken for agents, spinning and moonwalking through the worlds and planes that are entwined like ivy around and through 'The Thread'. The knowlegde of how my people aquired the ancient texts that allow us to perform these feats of unreality, has long been forgotten, but the question has arisen due to the insight you have aquired on the worlds and The Thread. Are we truly a branch of rogue agents or simply an undefinable sect of people that has found a way to manipulate the matrix?
We do not know of any agents who have turned against the machines, it is possible that they could, but then the machines would simply deactivate their program. On the other hand, people have been manipulating the matrix for as long as we have known about it. It is likely that your shadow dancers fall into this category.
-Morpheus
The matrix does not exist. The proof: no computer program, or no sane mind for what that matters, would be able to invent Michael Jackson.
Besides, any entity who renames himself after the god of sleep and calls his vessel/country after the ruler a babylon who enslaved the jews, but still longs for the mythical homeland of the jews(zion), any such creature should be looked at with suspicion.
Esspecially when they write well.
besides, the Matrix can't exist, for i do. therefore, join me in _Apathia.
If you want one theory on the Michael Jackson conundrum, see the Shadowlands thread. Another (more widely held) view is that Michael Jackson is a glitch in the matrix. This explains how he has a constantly changing appearance dispite only having 2 opperations.
However, your knowledge is impressive. Zion was so named to correspond to the biblical depiction of the last human city. My own name is a reference to the fact that I wake people from the deepest sleep of all. The ship name is coincidental.

do you know what a saiyan is?
Jay Maxson's Log, Stardate - unknown:
I was interested to hear of the Nebuchadnezzar's theory of the man or Agent, as the case maybe, who came to create the persona of my country's deity. I would like, however, to put the Shadowlands argument on record. As the Shadow Scriptures write, so I quote:
"...On the last day Michael Jackson, a boy the colour of the midnight sky, raised his voice to the heavens. A beam of the purest light energy burst forth from a coinsidental rip in reality, and melted the boy into a thousand tiny droplets of a substance vaguely resembling mercury. The beam of light, however, contained an alien component that gifted whomever it touched with the ability to be virtually indestructable. As the light faded and the rip disappeared a slight trembling could be felt in the air. The scattered blobs of mercury began to slide inward, every drop melding into the next. A figure started to emerge from the spot from which the boy was last seen. Straightening, the figure flexed his new limbs and decided that he needed a new name...T1000..."
So endeth the passage. The similarities between Michael Jackson and the T1000 are often overlooked. How else could he have turned into a silvery spaceship at the end of MoonWalker? I wonder whether people realise that Michael Jackson has to cover his silvery body with something, (plastic is the only thing that sticks...) or else he would be seen as a weirdo or something...
THE UNITY:: SO... WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE US? THIS HUMAN APPARENTLY HATES MACHINES, BUT HE HIMSELF, IS DEPENDENT UPON ONE FOR TRANSPORT. IS HIS HATRED DIRECTED AGAINST RAMPANT OR HUMAN OPPRESSIVE ELECTRONIC INTELLIGENCES - OR ALL ELECTRONIC INTELLIGENCES. WE MUST MEDITATE ON THIS - SEND AN AVATAR TO RENDEZVOUS WITH THE NEBUCHADNEZZAR.

As the plane set down bringing Deng Kàiyè home accompanied by 'The One', representatives of the Ariddian government and scientific community awaited at the airport, along with a small number of journalists. Despite all she had been through, Kàiyè could not help but feel impressed. She had never dreamt she would one day receive this kind of welcome.
Then again, she had never dreamt she would one day swallow a red pill and be sucked into a world beyond her wildest, craziest imaginings...
She stood from her seat; the plane had come to a stop. At that moment, more than anything else, she longed to see her family again. Before the truth about the Matrix had been revealed to her, she was just a student, a young girl with a normal life like so many others, and at that instant she was that young girl once more. She just wanted to hug her parents close and tell them she was all right...
She looked at The One. The moment he stepped out of the plane alongside her, she felt, a lot was going to change...
A lot already had...

This is the Federation of the Landsraad. We reveal our prescence to you at this because we have been watching this line of communication with much interest and debate. We have not revealed what we have heard here to our general population in order to avoid any... 'incidents', but we speak out now because we see something familiar: these 'jar type things' fit the description of a device called an 'axlotl tank' furnished by a subspecies of human known as the Bene Tleilax. This possible collaboration with a hither-to unknown and hostile force disturbs us. We are currently dispatching operatives to Tleilax to study the problem from this end.

Bitch, you are so silly to believe in all this, the matrix isn't real- we are in fact controlled by evil forces- but not man-made ones
they are in fact creations of your mind- albeit a slightly warped one, the only matrices are crappy mathematical ones.
The matrix is just a lame excuse for some sub-standard special effects and poor quality kung-fu.

the only matrices are crappy mathematical ones.
Actually, the original meaning of matrix is "place of creation or maturation".
A chicken egg, for example, is a matrix. And, if people really are bred in glass jars, those jars and the associated artificial world are a matrix, as well.
Monkton Combe? You come from Monkton Combe and you don't believe that the matrix has you? Monkton combe has not one, but two Agent Smith's, and Mr Cuthbertson IS a machine. "Are the Cuanarsarn out of the matrix yet"Asked the emperor Ceran from his throne in his star ship the 'War God'
"No sir" said the scientist who figured out how to send people who were born outside of the matrix into it!
"Well then im going in thir still alive arent they"he said putting the first plug in his arm
"Yes sir youre going in 3 2 1 your in "
Ceran looked around for a moment before he saw an agent charging for him Ceran raised his hand and caught the agents throat and lifted him up before throwing him out the window!
Just then another agent walked in firing 26 shots from his M4 before Ceran held his hand out and reflected the bullets at the agent who dodged them then Ceran jupmed up and tore out his throat a fountain of blood spraying in Ceran's face as the agent fell to the ground!
Then a phone rang and Ceran walked upto it as the Cuanarsarn walked in!
"Operator were coming in"!
Unplug...er....sure why not. It be fun. hehehehe! But I need lots of info because I am really confused.
She lay on her bed, gazing up at the ceiling. It was only a small student's room she rented, but it was adequatly furnished, and the building was kept clean. Despite the grim state of the nation's economy, the government made sure no one had to live in poverty or bad sanitary conditions.
She sighed, and reached up to switch off the light. She had closed the shutters, and the room was plunged into darkness. Only her desktop light still shone, casting most of its glow onto her computer keyboard. She could feel the bed, soft and comfortable.
Except that it wasn't real. None of it was.
Kàiyè closed her eyes, and all was truly darkness now. But the Matrix was still strong around her. She could feel the bed, she could hear the slight whir from her computer, the muffled sounds of voices in the corridor, and a car passing by in the street below; the taste of her last meal lingered in her mouth.
None of it was real.
"The Matrix has me. . ." she whispered to herself.
It had her, in a sense, but now she saw it for what it was. She had gained a glimpse of the real world. She had been unplugged, that night when she had awoken in her alcove, so high, amidst thousands of other Humans being bred as batteries, and she had been pulled free. The Matrix no longer harnessed the energy of her body - but she was still inside the illusion. She was trapped between two world...
The government knew the truth now, of course. Or at least, they had heard the words describing the ghastly nature of reality. She wondered what they believed. Could they accept the truth, without having seen it with their own eyes? She doubted it. They had said they would investigate. No doubt, the highest Secretaries of the Party would gather, talk it through, and decide not to frighten the people with unsubstatiated claims. The Matrix would endure, unchallenged...
And what about me?
She opened her eyes once more, and gazed into the darkness. There was so much still she didn't know. She felt an urge, deep inside, drawing her to find out more, and she felt helpless. There were those who could help her, who could reveal the full truth to her, but she had no way of contacting them. She was alone.
"Tell me more..." she whispered, a ghost of a whisper in the darkness of her room...

They will hunt you down, if they suspect that you will join the revolution, but give me a message, and I can get to you first.

sorry if i spoil it for people who aint seen MR!
I am pleased to say that Camdean has allways been unplugged, but we only have a select few outside our fake world, we want total security, and have yet to find safe refuge in the real world, Also we have reason to beleive that humans before us created this fake world that so once we destroy ourselves in the fake world, we will wake up in the Real world, and realise our mistakes, and not nuke eveyone at once
bump
Isn't anyone from the real world going to answer Kàiyè?
"It's a field..."
The tiny observation pod soared over the columns lined with tanks. Paulus Dekkard watched over the shoulder of the helmsman of the pod, and realized in awe that every pink bump on the columns was one human being.
"There's enough people to fill a large country here."
The Landsraad spycraft had already learned much- the people in the suspected 'axlotl' tanks were not in suspended animation, as was originally suspected. Only the minds seemed suspended, while the bodies aged, died, were liquified and fed to the next generation.
"Bring us around to one of the tanks- I don't care which, I'd like to get some more scans. We might-"
Weapons fire struck the craft, which spun violently out of control into one of the columns. The craft, already badly damaged from the surprise attack, exploded on impact, mangling a portion of the tower and several of the tanks that lined it.
The sentinel scanned the craft for life signs, was satisfied that their were none, and left the wreckage to the repairbots, while, in the Matrix, 11 people inexplicably died.
Kàiyè sighed, and sat up. It seemed as though there was no-one to answer the silent questions screaming inside her mind. She glanced at her computer -
- and stared. The screen was dark. In bright green letters, in the top left hand corner, two lines of words held her attention riveted.
<They're looking for you.>
<Go to the telephone box at the end of the road. Now.>
Kàiyè felt her heart beat faster. She was going to get out of the matrix, back into the real world. She felt both exhilirated and terrified.
For a moment, she stopped and wondered what she should take with her. Then she remembered none of her belongings were real. Some habits, induced by a life spent amongst illusions, were hard to shake off...
She dashed out of her room, and down the stairs of the building. Now, she just had to make it to the phone box...

As Kàiyè picked up the phone, and underwent the now familiar journey into the Real World, she was stunned. The Real World had always been somewhat primative compared to the virtual realms of The Matrix, but now there was nothing but a few obviously salvaged pieces of apparatus, among the ruin.

"I was mislead." he bowed his head; a gesture that made it imposible todislike him, depite the horror that all he had told he seemed wrong.
"They came, and there was nothing Neo or I could do about it. There is a chance that the machines have already won. We have but one hope..."

Paulus realized with surprising calmness and clarity that he was going to die. He had ejected from the pod just after the electronic feedback from the sentinel fire incinerated his partner. Paulus felt strange that he seemed unable to mourn his friend, but then he realized, "I'll be joining him soon..."
Paulus was hanging from one of the least mangled of the tanks- one of the panels in the side had shattered and it's slimy pink contents were spilling out over his head into the abyss. The body inside did not stir, not even when the drain at the base of the tank opened up and violently sucked it down.
The spider-like mech arrived with alarming speed. Preseumably the first of the repair crew, it had been sent to dispose of the compromised humans. The bot was not very intelligent, and only recognized the man hanging from the tank as another tainted crop to be appropriately disposed of...
Paulus lost his grip on the tank as a cold metal claw wrapped around his neck, lifting himself up over the tank. A small orb on a crane emerged from the mech and positioned itself in front of Paulus' face. Paulus stared back at his own reflection, wondering what, exactly, was looking back at him. The claw around his neck opened, but Paulus did not even have the chance to draw in a breath before he slammed into the tank and was quickly sucked down the drain behind him.
As Kàiyè picked up the phone, and underwent the now familiar journey into the Real World, she was stunned. The Real World had always been somewhat primative compared to the virtual realms of The Matrix, but now there was nothing but a few obviously salvaged pieces of apparatus, among the ruin.

Kàiyè felt her heart beat faster. What was Morpheus saying? That all was lost? She couldn't accept that!

Morpheus looked away briefly; he didn't want her to know that it pained him to reply.
"I honestly don't know. We were almost killed here by sentinals, but something stopped them. Neo, it seems, is perhaps even more important than I anticipated. On the other hand, he may be lost at any moment. Before they could attack, he somehow stopped them, but doing so hurt him; he is now in some sort of coma. How, or perhaps more importantly why he could do this, is a mystery."

Kyle walked down the street, not knowing his life was about to irrevocably change.
It was raining - it always seemed to rain in the City - and he pulled the hood of his jacket tighter around his head. Just under six feet in height, he was an attractive man, when not soaking wet, and his long black hair hung in strands from his hood. The gray eyes focused mostly on the ground, occasionally looking up to avoid the endless stream of people moving past him. His right hand lifted briefly from his jacket coat to wipe the water from his face as he glanced behind him, before crossing the street.
Reaching the curb he barely avoided a bicyclist, one of the those annoying message-runners that had claimed the sidewalks lately, and nearly knocked over an old woman trying to get to the apartment building where he lived. "Sorry about that..." Her string of expletives fell on deaf ears as he opened the door, fumbling with his keys.
In the main hallway he lowered his hood and let out a heavy sigh. Why he had ever come to live here was beyond him. That's right, he remembered, Jenny wanted to live in the City. His girlfriend had been a very promising actress at one point, now mostly acted as a very promising deli clerk, and their move to the city had done little to move her career along. He shook his head as he reached for the door to his apartment...
When the door suddenly opened and Kyle found himself flattened. Shaking his head he barely saw the trench-coated figure bolt for the door. Jenny...Images ran through his mind as he stood and ran into his home.
She was standing in the living room, more of an attic really - most of their furniture consisted of the boxes they'd used to move here - her long blonde hair glistening even in the squalid flourescent light. "Kyle?" she said, confusion and shock filling her sharp, lovely features.
Features that began to change. In little more than a blink of an eye Kyle watched green light rain down his girfriend's body in tattered shreds. Her scream was muffled, taking on an almost mechanical quality. Her body began to twist...
Until a man dressed in a black suit stood in her place. Kyle blinked. What?
The man in black shoved Kyle out of the way and charged through the door, heading for the entrance to the building, drawing a large pistol in the process. Landing painfully in the corner, Kyle let out a yell.

OOC: PROBABLY A GOOD IDEA TO SEE THE NEW MATRIX BEFORE READING ANYTHING BY ME AFTER THIS POINT ON THIS THREAD.
(I don't want to spoil anything)
I would recommend you wait till it comes out on cable. It sucks, and everyone I know who has seen it says it sucks. If you like to see Neo run away from a fight, over and over, this movie is for you. My apologies if you think this movie is God, but you are mistaken.

he didn't run from the fight with the Agents at the start, or from the servants of the Merovingian. The only times he runs, are when hes attacked by the Smiths...So twice, whoop de do. Thats really running away ALL the time
If Neo were concious, he'd be really angry about those acusations. Since he's not, I may just have to come over there and kick your ass myself.

OCC: On a serious note, Matrix Reloaded does actually rule with an iron fist. Don't believe these hypocrits, people. to deny the coolness of Matrix Reloaded is to deny the very thing that makes us human.

I don't even know how to get a picture in here. Did you do the animation, or just put it in?
OOC: Im going to boost this up because people really need to see Neo with an ice cream (look on the previous page).

OOC: Yep. You wanna make something of it?
The man in black shoved Kyle out of the way and charged through the door, heading for the entrance to the building, drawing a large pistol in the process. Landing painfully in the corner, Kyle let out a yell.
He was after the man in an instant, running through the apartment door even as the man in black hurtled out the front door. Kyle slipped as he ran, barely keeping himself up, and reached the street only moments later.
Outside the rain was still coming down in sheets, and Kyle quickly caught sight of the dark man running after the other person, shouting as he ran. Kyle broke into a run and followed them.
As he splashed down the street, trying not to knock people over, Kyle tried not to think about what he had seen. Or had he seen it? The whole thing had happened so quickly...ahead of him the dark man was rounding a corner.
Kyle arrived moments after him, to find the dark man standing gunslinger-style facing his prey, an emaciated figure dressed all in black, wearing a long trench coat. About to yell at the dark-suited man, Kyle cursed and ducked behind a car as both figures opened up on each other.
9 mm casings falling glitter-like in the rain, Kyle watched the impossible.
The dark suited man began to move, but move in a way no human being could, twisting at a impossible pace - left, right, backwards - Kyle felt his mouth hang open. At last the trench coated figure stopped firing, another clip in his hand almost instantly. The man in black drew a bead on him...
...as several doors opened on the street and the agent was caught in the trap they had set for him. Half a dozen people rained steel hell down on him, clipping him in multiple areas. When it was all over Kyle had to close his eyes as green light engulfed the dark man's body. A trench coated woman walked past him, dropping an empty machine pistol. She did not look back.
They disappeared as quickly as the had come. Kyle found himself walking up to the body in the street, the blood-stained, bullet-ridden body of his girlfriend. Shaking, he fell to his knees and cradled her lifeless corpse in his arms.
The sirens began.
OOC: Yep. You wanna make something of it?

Nice! I'm putting it on this page as well!

Kyle found himself walking up to the body in the street, the blood-stained, bullet-ridden body of his girlfriend. Shaking, he fell to his knees and cradled her lifeless corpse in his arms.
The sirens began.
Ahead of the usual ambulances and police cars, was a large black car; gleaming with reflections of the streetlights. The car pulled up a short distance from Kyle, and the door opened. A black shoe, almost as polished as the car, stepped out; indifferent to the glistening puddles. Kyle looked up at the grey suited man, and tried to say something, anything would do. The man ended the silence.
"Unfortunate... isn't it." The rain continued to fall. "You are probably wondering how-" Kyle looked up; staring into the shadows that concealed the mans face.
"Why?" Kyle interupted. The dark suited man crouched down next to him.
"Why is a far more interesing question." As the man moved forward, Kyle recoiled violently-
"No! You! You are... The man... You Killed her!" Kyle was becoming hysterical.
"Well that's not exactly true, now...is it?" Two more men closed in. One opened his mouth.
"He has seen..."
"...and therefore..."
"...he must be erased." Kyle was becoming violently afraid.
"Erased? What do you mean erased?" Kyle screamed.
"Don't worry..."
"...you wont feel a thing."
People may claim that this is merely a message in order to bump my thread. In truth this is necessary in order to tell people the truth.
"Erased? What do you mean erased?" Kyle screamed.
"Don't worry..."
"...you wont feel a thing."
"Whatever I had admitted until now as most true I took in either from the senses or through the senses; however, I noticed that they sometimes deceived me. And it is a mark of prudence never to trust wholly in those things which have once deceived us."
- Rene Descartes, Meditations on First Philosophy, 1641
The man in black smiled.
And green light flooded down Kyle's body.
He felt himself falling. It was a strange sensation, strange because he knew that he was on the street and there was no place for him to fall. Strange because it caused his vision to blur, a kind of aura surrounding him. His head began to hurt. In his mind's eye he began to perceive images flickering through the green haze, moments from early childhood - were they his? He couldn't remember ever having a clown at his 3rd birthday party...had he had a 3rd birthday party?
The images did not proceed according to time, either. The laughing, grotesque face of the clown was replaced by Jenny, her actions hesitant and slowed, like viewed in slow motion. An instant later she lunged for him quickly, he knew it was a moment she had hugged him - she'd gotten a job as an extra - but she moved so quickly it startled him. And the movements were not natural but...jerky...like in some Anime films he'd seen, as if she were in a movie and certain frames were missing. What the...
He was not afraid. Why would he be afraid? Strange. He had been afraid, but why? He tried to think of this but it was difficult, other images flickering past his eyes. Past his eyes...
Wait. How could he be seeing all this? Wasn't he on the street? And what was a street? His headache began to worsen. So much for not feeling anything.
Now what was that. Kyle shook his head. Something's wrong. I feel really weird. It's unfortunate...
He has seen.
Seen what? What the h*ll?
A sound rolled through his consciousness, something like thunder. It hurt his ears. Kyle held his hand (what are hands?) against his ears. The thunder grew louder. Louder.
Green light scrolled down over his vision.
Kyle opened his eyes.
OOC - Neb I wasn't sure if you were trying to kill Kyle or just challenging me to come up with an interesting escape. Hope this works for you.
Kyle opened his eyes.
...to see three men in black exchanging fire with a group of trench-coated individuals.
All around him emergency personel were diving for cover. Lying on the street, Kyle blinked his eyes and felt a wave of vertigo wash over him. His stomach began to turn and he rolled onto his side. He saw Jenny's bullet-ridden corpse. His nausea heightened.
A mix of red and blue lights lit up the area around him, probably from the legion of fire trucks and squad cars. Some of the police were firing back, taking orders from the black suited men. Somthing in Kyle's mind clicked and he knew he had to get away from those men. He wasn't sure why. He began to crawl.
Reaching the curb he hefted himself onto the sidewalk and crawled beside a parked car, exhausted. He rolled on his back and looked up into the sky, trying to understand what had just happened. How had he ended up in the midst of a firefight? A migrane was working its way from his forehead and for a time he had to simply lay there, each crack of a firearm a moment of intense agony. Something about the girl on the street.
An explosion on the other side of the street nearly sent him into unconsciousness.
When he could open his eyes again, when he could focus on anything other than the pain throbbing maddeningly in his head, Kyle looked up to see someone standing over him.
Oh no.
They're going to erase me.
The figure stooped and their features resolved somewhat into the face of an Asian woman. She was thin, thinner than was healthy, but her long long black hair straight as a board shone brilliantly even in the grey light. A pair of sunglasses obscured her eyes.
"Leave him!" a voice called from far away.
The woman looked up for a moment, a flicker of irritation flashing across her features before looking back down at Kyle. She enhaled sharply, then let out a quick sigh. She reached a gloved hand out to him.
"Come with me if you want to live."
OOC: No, I wasn't trying to kill Kyle, I just wanted to join in with your excellent addition to the thread (and show I hadn't forgotten about it). An excellent escape route... Though Agents may be the least of your wrorries...

The woman looked up for a moment, a flicker of irritation flashing across her features before looking back down at Kyle. She enhaled sharply, then let out a quick sigh. She reached a gloved hand out to him.
"Come with me if you want to live."
"Jin, you know Daed is going to kill you for this."
Jin snorted, the effect somehow seeming elegant. "Its not the first time I've done this."
"That's my point."
Kyle was doing his best to keep up. He was finding that for all their unwieldy gear and long trench-coats, these people could move. His head was still hurting from a migarane, but it slowly was ebbing away. He nonetheless had to focus on putting one foot in front of the other, keeping up with his "saviors".
Jin, the Oriental woman who had helped him up from the car, was speaking. "Its not right. Leaving someone to erasure. Its bad enough leaving the coppertops still wired."
"We're not getting into this again, Jin. Not everyone's ready..."
"I know, I know. But erasure is different."
The man speaking to Jin was tall, and somewhat muscular. Like the other he was dressed in dark clothes, his brown skin augmented with a series of tribal-esque tatoos. Kyle had not seen his face yet.
"Can I ask what's going on? I don't under..."
"No," both of them chorused.
Suddenly cutting to the left, Kyle followed them down an alleyway towards a dead end. As they approached the terminus he noticed a door on the right. Jin had pulled a cellphone from her coat and the dark man was already inside the brownstone building. Jin motioned him ahead of her and he caught pieces of her conversation as he entered.
"Cam, this is Jin. Is there an extraction team anywhere in the City?...D*mn...I know there are Agents after us...look, what's the nearest ship, maybe they can set up an XT site..."
A dimly lit hallway opened before him and Kyle thought for a moment he heard a phone ringing. It stopped suddenly as the man he was following entered a room on the right. He heard voices as he entered.
The room was occupied by only two people, Jin's companion and an even taller, paler man. Almost an exact opposite he had long blonde hair spilling over his Nordic features, eyes hidden by the pervasive wrap-around sunglasses. Looking at Kyle the man cursed. "Jin, what the f..."
"Shut up," Jin said from behind him. "Not you Cam. D*mmit I don't care if Empyrion is down for recon...what...?" She suddenly closed the cell phone with a loud curse.
"What?" the black man turned, Kyle seeing for the first time his strong, hard face and dark goatee. His sunglasses removed, his brown eyes bore a fiery intesity through an otherwise calm visage.
"Squidies."
"That's it. Everybody out."
"But what about...?"
"NOW."
The phone began ringing again.
The black man grabbed Kyle by the arm and pulled him aside, facing him away from the phone. "Listen battery boy, you're in some real deep crap, and the only thing that is gonna save your a$$ is your ability to run. I can't explain now but you've got some real bad mothers about to rain down on this place." He pointed out the hall. "Go down that hall to the fifth door on the left. Got it?"
"F-fith door...left." The phone stopped ringing and an electrical sound buzzed Kyle's ears. When he tried to look, the dark man jerked him back. The phone rang again.
"There's a hole in the wall that leads down into the sub-basement. Crawl down there and head for the far side, there will be a grate on the floor. Go through into the sewers and haul a$$."
Kyle recoiled, disgusted. "Sewers. No f****** way!"
"Its that or death, battery boy."
The dark man turned away and Kyle found they were the only ones in the room. "What the...?"
"Now move it."
The dark man replaced the receiver and it began to ring again. Without looking back he lifted the receiver to his ear, and shrouded in white light, disappeared. Kyle's mouth dropped.
Migrane pounding in his head, he left the room in a run and did not look back.
The dark man replaced the receiver and it began to ring again. Without looking back he lifted the receiver to his ear, and shrouded in white light, disappeared. Kyle's mouth dropped.
Migrane pounding in his head, he left the room in a run and did not look back.
He was never sure how long or how far he ran. Only that in the end he collapsed in a pile of foulness he could smell the rest of his life.
Kyle's head throbbed on a level that threatened him with unconciousness. In the dark, if fetid, corridors of the sewer at least he was spared the excrutiating pain of sunlight. He had lost track of how many times he had vomitted. Lying in the cool dark he tried hard not to think, or even breathe for that matter - each breath turned his stomach and caused a red flare of agony in his skull. Somewhere between his ragged breaths he fell mercifully asleep, claimed at last by exhaustion.
His dreams were no better than the reality he had just lived. At least they started happier. He dreamt of a time he and Jenny had spent a day in the park on a picnic. An actual day without rain, who would have thought it? They had a terrible time with ants, and homeless people, but the day had been a welcome reprieve for them. Even asleep he smiled as he remembered her golden hair in the warm light - somehow she always looked beautiful, no matter how sick, dirty, or angry. It was something he loved about her, perhaps a product of his love for her. There was something in her spirit that just...shined. In his dream she smiled at him.
And then the dream went all wrong. The skies began to darken and Kyle felt rain pelt his skin. "This isn't supposed to happen," he heard himself saying. Jenny looked sadly at him.
"None of it is."
"Huh?"
Her face began to change in a deluge of green, ragged light.
Kyle screamed and sat up.
He was still in the sewer, the echoes of his scream resounding down endless tunnels. His migrane was gone but tears had begun falling down his face and soon he was sobbing. Jenny... He lifted his hand to wipe his eyes and covered his face in human waste. "Sh*t..." he groaned.
"Yes," a voice said behind him.
Kyle almost leaped out of his skin until he recognized Jin. "Man don't do that!" A curse fell from his lips as he tried to wipe off his hands and face. Jin squatted down.
"You all right? You don't look like they got to you."
"Yeah," grumbled Kyle. "I guess I...made it. Though I'm still not sure what's going on." Lifting the other's face with her hand she removed her sunglasses and looked in Kyle's eyes. Her own eyes were a deep brown.
"That happens sometimes in partial wipes. You're lucky you remember your name."
"Partial...what? Look, what's going on? I...Jenny..."
Jin sighed, dropping her hand and looking at the foor. When she rose her head there was compassion there. Compassion and strange hardness Kyle had never seen in a person before.
"I'm sorry, Kyle, I really am. I wish I could explain it for you. I can't, but I know someone who can start too."
Kyle leaned back, a strange sense of suspicion rising from his gut. "Who?"
"Our Captain, Daedalus. He helped me, too, a long time ago when I was in a lot of trouble."
"Captain? What, are you guys military?"
She smiled. "Not exactly." Standing up she offered her hand.
Kyle clasped it and rose. "What next?"
Jin looked around. "First, getting you out of here. We have a car waiting."
"Alright," Kyle said, taking a deep breath. "Let's go."
***
Jin and Cole (the black man from earlier) took him to an old, seemingly abandoned building. It was of course raining. A long flight of stairs greeted them. A long flight of stairs.
At the top they came to a large set of double doors. Cole passed through first and Jin turned briefly to Kyle. "Good luck, Kyle. I hope you find what you're looking for."
Inside the room was sparsly furnished. Two chairs, a table with a glass of water on it, and a man lounging on one of the chairs. He rose as Kyle came in and approached him slowly. He also was tall, a little over six feet, Kyle guessed. His olive skin was offset by pitch black hair, cut short. The strong, square jaw offset his thin lips and high cheekbones, giving him a European air with a hint of the Mediterranean. Dressed darkly like the others he wore a collarless black shirt with a silver stud instead of a tie, and went without the common trenchcoat. When he spoke his voice was deep and rich, a resounding barritone.
"Hello, Kyle, it is good to meet you."
Kyle took the offered hand. "Yeah. Good to meet you. Sorry about the mess. I was in the sewers..."
Daedalus raised a hand. "You've had quite a day. I am not offended." He gestured to a chair. "Please, sit."
As he sat down, Kyle watched Jin and Cole exit the room through a side door. Daedalus walked softly around the opposite chair and sat down.
"If you don't mind, Kyle, I'd like to ask you some questions about what happened today."
"Okay."
For the next few minutes they talked. Kyle's memory wasn't the clearest on certain points, but Daedalus did not push him. When they came at last to Jin's offer of aid, the other man sighed and looked away briefly. Even without seeing his eyes, hidden as they were, Kyle could see the man's pain. His empathy was palpable.
"Kyle I wish I could tell you everything will be alright," he said looking back. "But it won't be. You have unwittingly stumbled upon something very few people have ever seen, and none of them have survived."
A chill ran down his spine. "What do you mean?"
Daedalus' face was implaccable. "The Matrix."
***
What followed was familiar to all the members of Daedalus' team, for each of them in turn had had this conversation with their leader. Through a remote camera Jin watched the Captain explain, as he had to her, the concept of the Matrix in almost mythological terms. It was a risk, she knew. Coppertops with partial wipes had been extracted before, with disastrous results.
"He will very likely go mad," Daedalus had told her.
"I know, but we can't just let them erase him."
"Why is he so important to you, Jin? You've put me in this position before, but rarely with this much passion. What is it?"
She had looked away. "His girlfriend was killed because someone on my team ran through their apartment."
"His girlfriend was killed because an Agent used her. It wasn't your choice."
"But..."
"People die in the Matrix everyday, Jin. You have to accept it."
"Not like this," she had whispered. "Not like this."
Somehow, Daedalus had consented, and allowed the extraction.
"He's your responsibility," his words echoed back to her as she watched him pull out the pill box. "This won't be easy for him."
Daedalus opened the pillbox.
"I know," she whispered.
Kyle, heart pounding, head hurting, mind whirling in confusion, chose the red pill.
And five minutes later woke up in Hell.
OOC: Can I RP an Agent? I have been doing so in another thread where my agents are based on the ones from the matrix.
The MARAUD! Delegate arrives in the city the message is said to have come from. He draws a few strange looks as he walks to a place to rest. He had hitch-hiked into town and had quite a bit of gear strapped to his back. Using what little of the local money he had taken in preparation he buys a room for the night.
The next phase would be the difficult part, finding this man. Asking around town wasn't an option, it would bring the wrong people to him and he had a suspicion this was some bad business. He lays back in the bed planing his next phase. Before any thoughts can reach his mind he drifts off into sleep.
((OOC: Seems I killd it... *hides the knife.*))
OOC: Can I RP an Agent? I have been doing so in another thread where my agents are based on the ones from the matrix.
Sure, so long as you don't mind me doing it as well.
Kyle, heart pounding, head hurting, mind whirling in confusion, chose the red pill.
And five minutes later woke up in Hell.
The door flung open to reveal two chairs, and table with an glass half filled with water on it. Two men dressed in dark grey suits and shades slowly walked in. One touched his ear piece, and turned to the other;
"We are too late."
Looking across to a door on the other side of the room the men saw a similarly dressed man (though lacking an ear piece) enter.
"I could have told you that." He said in a superior manner.
One of the first two men opened his mouth;
"It's you."
"One of me. You aren't even slightly aware of the significance of this, are you?"
The two agents looked at each other.
"Being no longer part of the system, I believe I now have a better perspective of the happeninings of the Matrix. When you no longer obey the program...you can see anything you like."
Once again the two agents turned to each other. The second began to speak;
"Call for backup."
He said in a calm tone. Smith only laughed. The agents turned back to him.
"I am not the problem."
Smith said, with an air of satisfaction.
"None of me are. Not yet anyway. He is the problem. You are aware of the anomoly? The man the rebels humerously refere to as 'the One'? Well...this is slightly misleading; he is not the only One. Certainly, no One else will ever be nearly as powerful as him, Not untill the next anyway. But there are a number of other individuals who area...destined...for greater things. You believe that his erasure was prevented by the rebels...so does he. But, whether he knows it or not, he prevented the process himself. Just think what he will be caperble of now that he has been unplugged."
Smith turned away from them and began to slowly walk out the way he came in. As he reached the door he paused for a second and turned to them, before saying;
"Now is the part where you say to deploy the sentinals."
He smiled slightly and walked out.
The Agents stood, motionless for a few moments. Then three others arrived.
One of the first two turned to the others and spoke;
"Deploy the sentinals."
((OOC: Seems I killd it... *hides the knife.*))
(OOC:sorry, I've been away for a while. Do you mind if i ressurect it?)
IC: The delagate woke suddenly, alarmed and somehow aware of a presence. He looked up to see two circles of reflected light, a short distance above his chair. The sunglasses spoke;
"Please, do not get up. It is safer for me to be here if you remain still. As you have no doubt gathered; I am Morpheus."
"How did you get in?"
"That is not important. However, you are, which is why I have forgone the usual formalities and come here in person. As well as because I am no longer so important to them...not since another individual has come to their attention."
"Important to who?"
"All will be explained. It is imperitive that your leaders find out about the Matrix before they get to you. It is too dangerous to leave now, while the One is not here, so come to the Addams street bridge at ten O'clock tomorrow evening."
The delegate looked bewildered.
"You soon fall asleep, and will no doubt wander if this has all been a dream. The original Morpheus of myth was in fact the god of sleep who spoke to people in such dreams. You will begin to realise that a dream is in many ways the best description for this. Come tomorrow if you wish to wake."
The delegates mind was swarming with thoughts. Danger? Dreams? Matrix? He wanted to talk but a weariness swept over him, and once more he fell into a deep sleep.

The Agents are currently tracking down a recently unplugged individual who they tried to erase, by the name of Kyle. They are also trying to deal with rogue agent Smith, and are perhaps becoming suspicious of the Delegate from MARAUD. In terms of time frame This is sort of after the second film, but not quite (lots of people are still being unplugged, and I'm not worrying too much about the ending, though Neo is currently unconcious-I'm cheating slightly). Hope that clears things up. By the way, Drum Gods, where is your thread? I'd quite like to join in...
Hmmm. Things appear to have slowed down somewhat. I guess that would make this a bump.
slooowwwwed toooo aaa haaallllllttttt. shame. Is there something I don't know about? (please, no stupid "how about everything" style answers. Actually that would be OK. The situation is that desparate. Even spam is welcome). Please! Anyyyyoooonnne.

-bump-
More, people! More! Tol Sarin, where are you? Neb can't keep this going on his own!
ooc - sorry I've been gone so long all - crazy personal stuff, none of it happy. But much is better...and I'm BACK.
And five minutes later woke up in Hell.
Needless to say, Kyle did not react well to the Real World.
At first it was all too much for him. The calculating horror of it all chilled his veins and froze his mind. Or what was left of his mind. The partial memory sweep had taken much from him, including most of his childhood. While he retained much - language, motor skills, reasoning - he was left feeling lost without any true sense of being. "How do I know this isn't just a bad dream?" he had asked Daedalus. The Captain merely shook his head. "I'm afraid you'll have to work through that yourself."
Jin did her best to help him. Apparently she had "rescued" a number of people who were "too old to be unplugged." She was honest with him. "Not everyone can make the adjustment. It might be easier since you don't have as many memories to hold on to." It wasn't encouraging.
One memory, however, was quite vivid, and did not fade.
"Jenny," Kyle whispered her name. "I can't get her out of my head. But I never really met her, did I? She never even existed."
"Its not quite like that," Daedalus replied. "The woman you loved was also plugged in to the Matrix. Did you ever physically meet her? No. But it does not invalidate your relationship. Had you met in the Real World, things may not have been that different."
"Except we'd be fleeing from giant genocidal machines."
"There is that."
"Why can't I stop thinking about her?"
"It may be a symptom of the partial erasure. Her death was so recent, so severe that she was driven into your mind biochemically. Certain events so affect us that they stay with us for years afterwards. You've heard of post-traumatic stress?
"Yeah."
"Similar to that. Its not unlike what happens when people view pornography - their brains are stimulated into releasing a series of chemicals that imprint the imagery into memory permanently. The same thing happens if you have a car accident. Jenny's death affected you deeply, and it was so...wrenching...that perhaps the erasure couldn't fully take it from you. That's why she's all you can focus on."
"What were you, a shrink?"
Daedalus gave a rare smile. "Something like that."
In those early weeks Kyle wandered about in a daze, rarely eating and never doing well in his training. Cam, the rascally operator, did his best to encourage him. But the young man, so recently freed from his bondage, had little desire to learn, and even less to try.
So it came that as Zion learned of the coming armada of Sentinels that Kyle sat in his room (it seemed more a cell) head down, brooding.
"I just don't understand," he thought to himself. "How all of this (he looked at the walls) can be true, and nothing I know can be. How could everything be a lie?" The tears had begun coming. "Jenny..."
He quickly stood and left the room, walking the corridors of the ship trying to avoid the other crewmembers. A compassionate, but silent, Cole slipped by him. Kyle was glad for the silence, trying hard to quell the violent emotions within.
His request took Cam by surprise. "Are you sure?" he asked, tapping a few buttons. "You almost lost some teeth last time."
"Yes. Definitely."
"All right. Have a seat and I'll load you up."
Kyle had failed all three attempts at the jump program, the last time simply walking off the edge in a seeming-suicide attempt. As his consciousness swirled, Kyle reflected on the holes in his psyche, on the emptiness where his dreams used to reside. On the dark place where Jenny's light used to give him hope.
He stood on a tall building, long black hair restless in the breeze. He was dressed in the same clothes he had been unplugged in, his residual self image even preserved the scuffs on his jeans from where he crawled behind the car. Glancing up at the false sky of the Construct, he wondered again whether everything in the Matrix had been false. Was the entire history of the human race fabricated, or merely recalled? Was there any truth in philosophy? Or religion? Was there a God at all? He could not be certain. Even Daedalus didn't seem to have all the answers, though he seemed more certain about some things than the other members of the crew.
But there on the rooftop, Kyle stood alone, and faced his uncertainty. "There are parts of my life that will never be whole," he thought. "They have been stolen by the cruelty of machines, and the tragedy of history. I don't know who I am, who any of us are, or could have been. I doubt everything. I doubt the concrete beneath me (I know its not really there). I doubt whether any of this Real World is actually Real. The only thing I don't want to doubt is the one person I can't have."
He stepped towards the edge. In the ship, Cam waited to upload him.
"I can't live like this," he said out loud. "I can't stand the not knowing. All the doubting." A humorless laugh escaped his lips. "The only thing I don't doubt is the fact I'm doubting."
A moment passed before he stood bolt upright, eyes wide. A memory. A memory from his life in the Matrix. He was in...school? Perhaps. Had he gone to college? He couldn't remember. Stepping back from the roof Kyle began pacing, the words coming out in a rush. Cam raised an eyebrow.
"I can doubt my senses, because they deceive me - this building, the breeze, none of them are real but my senses say they are. I can doubt my feelings because so much of who I am is lost. But the one thing I can know is that I am doubting. And if I'm doubting that means I must be thinking - I have to think to doubt, right? - and if I'm thinking..."
The phrase came back to him unbidden, stopping him dead in his tracks.
"Cogito ergo sum."
Kyle smiled.
He stepped up to the edge of the building and spread his arms to the sky.
There was no run, no leap, only Kyle lifting into the false sky of the Construct and soaring over to the next building. He touched down softly, turned to see the other building.
"Cogito ergo sum," he repeated. "I think, therefore, I am."
Kyle looked up into the sun and felt its warmth on his face. "This is where everything changes."
Back in the control room, Cam was cheering.
Morphies
tell me why doseit feel more real when i am asleep than when i am awake how do i know that my sences are lying to me. hellp me i fear agents are after me.
"Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead only try to realize the truth. There is no spoon. Then you'll see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself. "
Anyhoo, it's time for this kid to be unplugged.
What will happen if you unplug me ?
Will i be safe or will i be in danger?
how do i know what is the real world?

Sorry i want to keep listen!!
Kyle looked up into the sun and felt its warmth on his face. "This is where everything changes."
They were all enjoying a breakfast of "runny eggs and snot" when Cam brought the messages.
"Two messages, boss. High priority." He handed Daedalus a datapad.
The Captain scanned the contents before handing it back to the operator. "Take us up to broadcast depth," he said while standing. "5 minutes everyone. Kyle, you too."
On his way to Operations Kyle thought over the last few weeks. After his success in the jump program things had indeed changed, and definitely for the better. On two occasions he had returned to the Matrix as a team member. The crew of the Artemis was engaged in a long-term surveillance of an enemy HQ, occasionally handing the duty off to the crew of Empyrion. There really wasn't much to do, and Kyle often thought they would do just as well watching code on-ship as staring at a building inside. Daedalus hadn't told him what was so important about the mission, but Kyle had thrown himself into it, figuring passion would help ease the long, dull hours.
Now that Empyrion had taken over, the Artemis had returned to search and rescue. They had several possibilities in mind but were taking things a little more slowly. "Not everyone is Morpheus," Daedalus had said, making reference to the Captain of the Nebuchadnezzar, whose S&R team had made record numbers in the last few monthes.
"Seems a number of Agents have commandeered a local police precinct," Daedalus told them at Ops. "While this isn't that strange, they're doing it near where Empyrion's crew is conducting an op. We're to go in and keep an eye on the machines, and intercept them if nessecary. Cole, Tal, you'll be coming with me. Jin, Kyle, I want you to hold the fort and act as back-up. Everyone clear? In we go."
***
The abandoned warehouse they used as a safehouse seemed more like an experiment in how big dust balls could become if left to their own devices. Or at least Kyle thought so.
Daedalus and the others had left ten minutes ago and Kyle had already assured himself several times that his 9mm was loaded and ready to go. Jin had cleared a spot on a table and was practicing some meditation-thing, looking serene but alert. When Kyle checked his gun for the fourth time she finally spoke.
"You could always try relaxing."
"Yeah, probably. But this is the real thing, isn't it Jin? This is more than hanging out with a pair of binoculars."
"Its most likely nothing. Just relax."
"Right." Kyle brushed off a chair and sat down. After a few moments he said "Jin can I ask you a question?"
Her eyes were still closed. "You just did."
"Ha ha. You've been hanging out with Cam too much."
A thin smile cracked her face. "What did you want to know?"
Kyle frowned before asking. "Do you ever...feel it?"
"Feel what?"
"The Matrix."
Her eyes flittered open. "What are you talking about?"
Kyle looked away, flushing. "I don't know its just...ever since we, I, came back in...I've kind of felt...different."
"Everyone feels that way coming back. Even Tal was a little rattled."
"Yeah, I buy that." Kyle could not picture the Norseman being shaken by anything less than an earthquake. "No its not that. I know what that was. This is differenct. Its like...if I concentrate I can feel the lines of code falling around me."
"Now you're the one whose been spending too much time with Cam. Watching the code screens."
"No, really. Its like...like I could reach out and touch it. I...I don't know, maybe I'm just wierd."
Her eyes closed again. "Probably your imagination. I wouldn't worry about it." After a few minutes she said. "You're serious about this arent' you?"
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?"
Jin uncoiled her legs and assumed a more relaxed position. "Have you ever heard of chi?"
"You mean the resturant?"
"No. I do not mean the resturant. And that's Chi-Chi's."
"Oh."
"Chi, or Ki, is an electromagnetic field produced by human beings. Certain martial art systems focus on trying to manipulate that field to make punches harder, or to redirect an attackers energy."
"Right, right, I remember from the Kung Fu training."
"Yes." Jin looked out the window as she spoke. "Before I was unplugged I was a pretty gifted martial artist. Once I came to the Real World I began to think that Chi was really just the Matrix around us, and that people were, unintentionally, reworking the Matrix while they were using Chi."
"Wow."
"I'm telling you all this because I thought maybe Cole told you to bring up this 'feeling the Matrix' thing. He and Tal rode me pretty hard about it in the early days - saying I must be the One. It took me a while to realize they were being sarcastic."
"That's just not cool."
"No, it wasn't. So did Cole set you up with this?"
Kyle shook his head. "Nope. This is my own dementia, but I guess I must not be too crazy. I'm not the only one whose wondered about it."
"No, you're not."
Just then they heard a ringing, and Jin fished her cellphone from her trenchcoat pocket. "Jin." After a few moments she said "Gotcha" and closed down the phone, jumping off the table. "Come on," she said, heading deeper into the warehouse.
"What's up?"
"Cam says there's some weird readings over at the Empyrion safehouse. We're supposed to check it out."
A few twists and turns later they came to a small garage where, to Kyle's delight, was parked a glossy-black Nova. "Sweet!"
"Get in."
"Can I drive?"
"Get real."
What dose the story have to do wiht the topic
What will happen if you unplug me ?
Will i be safe or will i be in danger?
how do i know what is the real world?
I will be honest; due to your age there is a danger in unplugging you. However, if you truly doubt the world now, you should have few problems letting go. In this dangerous times, I cannot guarantee your safety, and in addition to that I have the unfortunate task of informing you that the real world is not a nice place iether.
However, more important than any of this: It is real, and if your wish for your mind to be free then there is only one way; unplug.
-Trinity
"Cam says there's some weird readings over at the Empyrion safehouse. We're supposed to check it out."
(OOC: glad your back- I really like your last two posts. Hope you're OK now)
Weird readings was an understatement. Early warnings had indicated an unusualy large Agent presence, that's why the crew of the Artemis had gone in in the first place, but these tests were just preliminaries, not detailed scans. While these had all the outward signs of being Agents, even the same physical appearance, you can always tell an Agent by it's connection to the machines, something these things lacked.
This connection governed everything about an Agent, it gave them their orders, which they followed without question, it was directly tapped into all communications, and it even made them instantly aware of all anomylies witnessed by anyone still plugged into the Matrix (a relatively recent addition to their program that had massively reduced rebel activity).
Without this connection one could easily be forgiven for thinking an Agents acts would all be motivated by the need to regain this connection. Or if not, it's actions would be random, meaningless. It would probably leave the Matrix alltogether.
However, though there was no way of knowing it from the distant screens on board the Artemis, these things actions were anything but random. They were calculated with mechanical precision, the result of numerous observations, trace programs, arranged encounters and disturbances. They had drawn the Empyrion here knowing the Artemis would follow, so long as it was made to look like they were needed. Well, they were needed. Not to help the Empyrion, they were of no consequence, let the machines wrorry about them. They were needed for something far more important. Or rather, one of them was.
You see while the things, or thing (for they were all one really) had reasons, they lacked meaning. They thought they could find that in the One, Neo, the anomylie who had caused this situation in the first place. But since he was elsewhere, another anomylie would suffice...
...and that would be Kyle...
Smith turned to himself and said;
"We won't have to wait much longer"
A virus is rarely patient.
OOC - ::best Monty Python voice:: I'm getting better! ... Yeah all's well. Glad to be back.
A virus is rarely patient.
The music from the radio spilled over Kyle as he stared out the window.
Welcome my son.
Welcome to the machine.
Where have you been?
We know where you've been...
"Its hard to believe," he barely whispered. "All these people. Plugged into...to...tanks. Just being used like this." He shook his head. "Its horrible."
"Its worse than horrible," Jin replied, her voice subdued. "Its evil. And that's why we're here."
Welcome my son.
Welcome to the machine.
What did you dream?
We told you what to dream....
Kyle leaned back into his seat and closed his eyes, ignoring for a time the cityscape flickering by. I'm going to destroy you he thought to himself. I'm going to make it my life's work, the total focus of my being. I'm going to set these people free, and destroy you're d*mned controls. A hard look fell over his face. And nothing you do will stop me. I swear it.
The car pulled slowly to a stop.
Welcome to the...
Jin shut off the radio.

The Empyrion safehouse was an abandoned apartment building, not all that different from the one Kyle and Jenny had lived in. Except for all the boarded up windows. Parking in a back lot, the two of them walked calmly and quietly towards a back door. Kyle flicked the safety off his 9mm.
When they were inside Jin contacted Cam and got directions to the room Empyrion's crew used as a gateway, and they began their journey up to the second floor. Dust, of course, covered everything and Kyle did his best to keep from sneezing. Through some of the open doors blade-thin rays of light spilled through cracked boards over the windows. Most of the rooms were empty, though the occasional one held some furniture, or a sleeping bum. They tried not to disturb them.
Jin was speaking to Cam over the cellphone. "Nothing so far," she whispered, her other hand near the butt of her Heckler and Koch MP-5. "What are you seeing up there?"
Just as they were nearing the Gateway a voice sounded behind them.
"Mr. Zyrin."
Kyle whirled, pistol out and aimed on the black suited man walking casually down the hall. "Sh*t."
"I have been looking foreward to making your acquaintance."
"Very much so," a voice said behind Kyle, the direction he'd just been walking. The same voice.
"I believe...."
"...we can be of..."
"...some assistance to...."
"...one another."
Kyle heard Jin's submachine gun snap up.
::enter cool Matrix techno music::

Kyle heard Jin's submachine gun snap up.
In these times it was unusual for Morpheus to move openly in the streets. Record numbers of search and rescue successes had came at a price, one that, had this been longer ago, and against a different enemy, would have been on his head. However, there was one condition that would make his presence in the Matrix safer than in the deepest caverns of the real world; Neo.
Morpheus turned to him and spoke,
"The threat appears to be smaller than I anticipated. I was convinced that the moment we got here you would tell me that there was a large Agent presence, as has been the case a lot lately."
The One remained silent. Morpheus paused and turned to him.
"And yet I can see in your eye that you do feel something..."
Neo stopped.
"It's the same feeling I've had for a while... The feeling that there is a power building, for better or for worse someone... or something is affecting the Matrix..."
Morpheus smiled;
"Yet you said 'someone' first."
"It doesn't feel like the machines, but in many ways that makes it potentially more dangerous."
"A rogue program? Smith?"
"No, I'd know if it was him, we apparently have a connection"
"Of course; you both killed each other. It's rather poetic, don't you think?"
Neo suddenly turned and looked behind him, then back at Morpheus, his vioce was hurried;
"There are no Agents. Can you handle this?"
Morpheus nodded.
"What is it Neo?"
"I have to leave."
He plunged his fist into the ground, sending a ripple outwards. Morpheus calmly stepped back as Neo rocketted into the air.
Morpheus stood for a second as Neo's silhouette grew smaller, and a gush of wind followed it, pulling in newspapers. Then he turned back the to way he was facing, and took a mobile phone out of his coat pocket.
"Link?"
"I know. He just took off."
"Can you see where he is heading?"
"Looks like somewhere NorthEast of your position... a long way NorthEast."
"Keep an eye on him, I'll need a hardline there shortly."
The Real Matrix
23-07-2003, 20:32
The Matrix really does have you.
"I believe...."
"...we can be of..."
"...some assistance to...."
"...one another."
Kyle heard Jin's submachine gun snap up.
The man struck an unearthly fear into Kyle; he had the same suit, sunglasses, even manorisms as the man that killed Jenny. He had barely made it through the Agent training program, even though it was considered more as a teaching aid than a challenge. However, a lot had changed since then. Though he could not fathom why, Kyle instinctively knew that there was something different about this man and his double, and this gave him strength. He paused to listen to the man.
Jin didn't.
"Kyle get down!"
The moment Kyle hit the ground a spray of machine gun bullets flew over him. He held his hands over his ears to try and block out the sound but he couldn't help looking up as the men effortlessly blured into a cloud of limbs, evading the shots. Then before his eyes the bullets became visible, as they zipped through the air, and the men once again each became one shape that kyle could see swerving in efficient, calculated movements. Kyle instinctively took his hands off his ears, and then, with a look of absolute amazement moved them left and right before his face as he realised he was moving almost as fast as the men were. But this revelation was shortlived, as he instantly knew that someone was behind Jin. He turned, shouting a warning, but it was too late. Another identical Smith tore the Mp5 from Jin's hands.
"Careful, you could have hit me."
Smith smiled at the look of horror in her face as he threw her across the room, shattering the concrete wall on the opposite side. Jin slumped, motionless to the floor, followerd by a torrent of dust and rubble. Another Smith appeared from the shadows and walked over to her. Kneeling down he put his hand gently on her throat.
"She's alive."
"Good, then we have"
"A bargening tool."
Smith turned menacingly to Kyle.
"With that in mind"
"I would relax"
Memories of his erasure came flooding into Kyles mind.
"This won't hurt a bit."
The Matrix really does have you.
You're right.
OOC - hope I followed your lead here...
Memories of his erasure came flooding into Kyles mind.
"This won't hurt a bit."
You know, they keep saying that....
Kyle had never quite experienced pain on this magnitude. Every fiber of every cell was screaming in agony as a string of images, non-stop and impossibly fast, burned through his consciousness demanding his undivided attention. He felt that he wanted to scream but had lost all sense of his physical body; for all he knew he was incinerating into a stream of green light, soon to cease existing. I will not allow that to happen, he thought. Somehow, I've got to fight this.
He tried to concentrate, receiving a backlash of intense mental wrenching - as if his consciousness were being torn in two. Struggling against the endless waves of imagery - some of them featured a familiar looking boy - he began to feel the rough floor of the hallway on the palms of his hands, and forced his eyes open.
The Smiths were standing over him, expressions vacant. Down the hall Jin lay slumped against the wall. As a wave of vertigo slipped over him he thought he saw her hand move, ever so slowly, to where her sidearm was holstered. Darkness swept over Kyle's vision.
***
Daedalus stood a block away from the hospital and watched the swarm of police move towards the door.
They had followed the commadeered force from their precinct on the upper West Side all the way down here, to the center of the City. At least four Agents rode in the stereotypical black sedan, though only one had come out when they reached their destination. He had strode purposefully into the building, shortly followed by the large group of police.
"Do you see anything, Cole?"
The black man stood a few feet away, leaning against a telephone pole and apparently reading a newspaper. But every once in a while his sunglasses peered above the paper's edge, scanning the scene ahead of them. "Looks like quite the party. Most are regular cops, but I wouldn't doubt they put SWAT on alert. Gonna have to be careful."
"How are the glasses? Working all right?"
"Sweet, boss, very sweet."
Daedalus nodded. They had received programming schematics for a variety of new equipment, including sunglasses with digitized macroscopic properties. This had been their first opportunity to test them. An ambulance was pulling up. "How do the cops look?"
"Bored. I don't think they like this gig."
"This is a pretty bold move, you'd think they'd be a little less obvious."
"Yeah, whatever they've got planned they don't seem to mind us knowing...hey I got something."
The Captain looked casually in the direction of the hospital, feigning a yawn. A gurney was being wheeled out.
"Looks like the patient is a kid, say, 10 years old." Cole turned a page as he watched the procession. "Some kind of apparatus around the head, can't tell for sure what."
At that moment a buzzing in his pocket distracted Daedalus. Pulling out his cellphone he flipped it open. "Go."
Cole watched as the patient was wheeled to the waiting ambulance and lifted inside. The Agent who had entered the building paused at the sedan before entering the ambulance. It began moving out, followed by the considerable escort.
Daedalus closed the phone. "Cole."
"Yo."
"Keep an eye on the machines, follow them in the car if you have to but be careful. Tal and I are heading to the Empyrion safehouse."
Cole did not look back. "What's wrong?"
"Jin and Kyle checked out a disturbance. They're in trouble."
***
"He seems to be..."
"...receiving the data."
Jin's fingers wrapped slowly around the butt of her 9mm. So far the Agents - these really did look alike to her - were ignoring her and focusing all their attention on Kyle. In a moment she'd have her gun clear...
The sound of smashing walls shook the floor under her and hallway was suddenly clogged with dust and broken bricks. Coughing and waving to clear the air in front of her, Jin looked up to see the outside wall, across from her, know featured a large hole, and a figure hovering outside. One of the Agents turned.
"Mr. Anderson."
"Mr. Smith," the other replied. "Time for you to go to Washington."
Smith 1 approached the hole. "Why Mr. Anderson I have never know you to be one for humor."
"I'm having a good day."
Neo's left leg shot out in kick to Smith's chest, hurtling him across the hall and into the adjacent room. Several things happened then.
Smiths 2 and 3 drew their Desert Eagle's and aimed for Neo, now inside the building. Jin cleared leather and drew a bead on Smith 2's head. And Kyle stood up.
***
As his memories flooded back, Kyle began to feel the Matrix as never before.
It was an odd feeling. Almost like standing in rain. Though he could not see it, he could feel the lines of code spilling over him. Down the walls. Surrounding the Agents. Holding the building together - making it exist.
Kyle rose, the images of his life flickering past his open eyes. He did not understand what they were doing to him. What was happening to him. The world felt unreal, planned, untrue. A lie. He reached his left hand out to the wall and felt a ripple pass through the code. He willed it to himself. Green light washed over the wall...
...and issued a stream of light into his open hand as the wall began crumbling, all dust, broken plaster, and liquid light...
...and he turned the stream into the back of Smith 2...

-bump- (to get it clear of all Siri's "Historical bumps".)
Surprisingly, the words of this "Prophet," Morpheus have convinced many individuals in Northwestern Gideon. Slightly more then 600 of the country's all-Hobbit population, located mostly in the east, have accepted the words of "Captain Morpheus," as truth.
While this band of Believers is small, the number of people is just large enough for the movement to constitute an official religion. Legally, those who believe in this "Matrix," are now part of a cult. As such, they are exempt from taxation, provided they live in secluded communities.
Most throughout Northwestern Gideon agree this is all a scheme to get out of taxation. "Either that," grunted 'Old Gaffer' Pollywag Murdle, Mayor of the Eastern District where the cult is centered, "Or they've been hittin' the pipeweed once too often."
The six hundred individuals demand Morpheus contact them immediately and give them release from "The Matrix."

You are just to afraid to take the pill yourself and you are trying to convince us to take it just to see the effects of it.
We will not be bamboolzed take the pill yourself. We will not do your dirty work for you.
