ok first thing, NO psoting of anything here but new issues,
dont whine about the lack of issues, contribute a few try to make them like the ones we get and please give at least three options.
(note my posts will most likely need a bit of retyping to fix my myriad typos)

here is mine

Illegal Immigrents

A recent rash of illegal aliens have been caught at the borders of our nation, the press and citizens are calling for new immigration cotrols.

A) Gilda Trotter of the (insert nation here) National Purity League says
"these Illegal aliens are jsut an eyesore with their strange customs and funny languages, I say we should boot them all out on their ears and put a big fence around the country"
(this choice will worsen political freedoms)

B) Ah Lee Mohammedof the (insert nation here) Civil Leberties Union says
"we must welcome these refugees from any nation into our open arms, they are fleeing one oppresive dictatorial regime in the only way they know, we must not let them think they jumping from the frying pan into the fire"
(this choice will improve political freedoms)

C) " hold on there, hold on people" says Johaness Radner of the (insert nation here) Broadcasting company, "we dont have to take either extreme, all we have to do is make a TV game show out of it is is win win situation,
we put deadly opsticals on the border and tv cameras, those that make it aacross, win freedom and citizenshiop those who dont, well, lets jsut say, our buzzards wont starve, wlll call it, (Who wants to Immigrate to (isnert nation here)?"
(choosing this will so what ever Violet deems apropriate, as I have no Idea what this choice will do, )

Software Monopoly:

Minisoft of (your nation here) has been proven by the (your nation here) department of Justice as operating an illegal Software monopoly on Operating system and support software, your citizens Demand Justice.

A) Nick Jaerbs of Orchard Computers says" This is an outrage, Minisoft must be made to pay for their crime of Software Monopolizations and Price fixing, their unlawful practices stifel the Computer industry in (your nation here)".
(this choice will improve your national ecomony)

B) Scott Gorila representative of Minisoft says" Out company has not done any sort of Price fixing or mopolisations, we only give the customers what they want, and dont try to put anyone out of business like Orchard computers".
(choosing this will greatly lower your national economy)

C) Brother Hezikaiah Yoder of the (your nation here) Amish community says, "rether than worry about which of ye has the best or worst tabulation machine pprograms, ye should all throw away the evils of modern technology and return to a more simple spiritual agrarian society"
(choosing this will do what ev er Violet deems appropriate)

Duct Tape Shortage

Due to overwhelming demand for Duct tape, the Nobel (nation name here) Tape Duck has been over hunted and is near extinction, teh citizens are demanding the government take action.

A) Shirley Short of the (your nation name here) Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals says " The hardware industry be darned, the Tape Duck must be protected, anyone using Duct Tape should be fined for murder of a precious Animal
(choosing this will inprove Enviromen, but depress teh economy and not really help the poor Tape Ducks)

B) Leon Johnson of the Hardware industyr says " we must both protech the Tape Duck while we protect the naitonal reserves of Duct Tape, areas of the Tape Duck's natural habitat mus tbe set aside as preserves so that th epopulation of these great fowl acn be restored.
(choosing this one will improve both enviroment, and economy)

C) Harvey Berns, of 75M Adhesives, says "we can protect the Tape Duck by banning the harvesting of and use of Tape Ducks and their natural Duct tape and using my companies synthetic Duck Tape, made of all synthetics"
(choosing this one will greatly imporve eniroment as well as the economy and contrubute to the national ov erall feeling of a job well done)

Alcaholism on the decline

Alcaholism in (your nation name) is on the decline, after five years of drastic rises, the citizens are jubilant however, ,

A) Niko Colman of the (nation name here) 12 step program to fight alcaholism board says " this is an outrage, not enough people are drinking, our company will go out of business if we cannot cure addicts, we support lowering the legal drinking age in (nation name) to 13 because 13 year olds are capable of making their own decisions, we also support introducing Beer and wine to school cafeterias, and providing Government subsidies to Driners for Drinking"
(choosing this will lower teh economy but raise civil rights)

B) Allison Hartman of the peoles Coalition for temperance says " It is a good day in (nation name) as consumption is on the fall, we only need to rout it entirely from our nations borders, the only way to do so is to institute Prohibition in (nation name) and strongly punish the offending persons.
(choosing this will lower Human rights and teh economy)

C) Noel Goldman, of the level head society, says " hey things are going good, keep everything like it is and soon our Drinkin problem will solve itself, teach moderation not take away the botle.
(choosing this will do nothing but make everyone thik you actually care)

Maybe we should collaberate on some?

Hm. Immigration Issue: I would wager it would affect Civil Rights more than Political Freedoms. I'm guessing that Option C would lower Civil Rights, and Raise Economy.

Monopoly: Thorny issues. Depending on political standing some would say that your economic effects would be reversed *shrug*. I'm guessing option C would kill the economy. You might add an option D which would be a half and half measure, much like what's happening in America now (open up the source code, etc), which would probably give a slight boost to Economy. This issue could also effect a country's IT industry, if they have one (I do! #1282 in the world! Go me! Ahem)

Duct Tape: Funny! Probably could use a hard core option similar to <National Animal> On the Dinner Table? and Uranium Deposits Found. In other words, have an option that is 100% pro-duck, and one 100% pro industry, and a third that's 50/50.

How about:

GreenPart Demands Alternative Fuels

The enviornmental group GreenPart demands that <nation> create an alternative fuel source for vehicles.

A) Toke Happy, speaker for GreenPart, say, "We must have alternative fuels! All this oil burning is killing the planet. Gasoline must be banned in 5 years. Hydrogen and solar all the way! They complained when we banned leaded gas. Who's complaining now?"

B) Joe Koff, of Big Oil Company hacks and drops his cigar. "You want us to do what now? Ban oil? What about all those jobs? These nuts need to be shown the door! Ban alternative fuels, I say."

C) Bob Levelhead, a public speaker says, "The two guys are nuts. How about we slowly phase in this new technology. We can't do it immediately, we don't have the infrastructer."

D) Edna Equine, horse enthusiast suggests: "Why don't we just ban cars altogether? Give everyone a horse. All those people in the petroleum business could clean up the poop!"

My guess is that A would lower economy and raise environment. B would do the opposite. C would slightly improve both. D would greatly lower economy and greatly improve environment, but probably make the country a laughingstock.

How about a issue bout Internet File Sharing?

How about this:

Ban Sleepster!

A group of record companies have raised the issue of filesharing, after their bonuses were lower than expected.

A) Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe, the law firm employed by the RIAA states that, "This Sleepster filesharing system is taking away money from starving artists, and it's illegal to begin with! Doesn't anybody respect copyright law anymore?"

B) Slick Swipe, a college student and filesharing propenant argues that "Sleepster is necessary! After all, those greedy bastards are ripping us off. They control the prices, man. I mean, those artists are only getting a few cents from every CD we buy anyway. And if I really like the album, I'll buy it. No, seriously, I will. Quit laughing!"

C) Stan Works, president of Orange Computer Corp has a third option. "How about the music industry get with the times. I mean, I got a bunch of artists to grant permission, and I offered songs for $0.99 a pop, and made over a million bucks this weekend alone."

I'm guessing that all but C would harm the economy.

I think I've got a couple of ideas, too =D

"Highways for homes"

The <insert nation name> Transportation Bureau has proposed construction of a major freeway connecting the outlying suburbs of the capitol with downtown. The freeway would allow more effective transport of people and goods between the two areas. However, several housing districts stand in the path of the proposed freeway.

A) Transport Bureau representive Slou Foroufive proposes the government simply boot the homeowners. "After all, it's land owned by us. We can kick them out at any time. They can just move somewhere else."

B) "He's wrong. Kicking people from their homes and laying a freeway willy-nilly will create a social, ethnic, and economic divide across the city." Says Janet Homel, chairwoman of the local Homeowner's Association. "Plus it will bring smog, noise, and traffic to the area, and property values will take a dive. I say don't build the stinking freeway! Let the people downtown stay there, instead of letting them bring their problems to our fine neighborhoods!"

C) Economist Bill Reaal recommends buying the homeowners out of the land, rather than booting them. "Buy purchasing the land to build the freeway, the people being dislocated will have the funds to move to a new location, and people won't likely grumble nearly so much when the freeway is laid down. And instead of putting the freeway straight through, wind it around so that a minimum of homes have to be destroyed. That way everybody goes home happy!"

D) Environmentalist Robin Green tsks the entire idea of a freeway. "We have enough traffic as it is! Enough smog, enough congestion. Instead of a freeway, we need an effective public transportation system! More buses and commuter trains instead of tons of smelly cars!"

Choosing A would drop political freedoms and slightly lift economy and increase crime and traffic accidents. Option B would lower the economy slightly and add something about snooty elitists in the suburbs. Option C would raise economy and add a comment about increased smog and traffic. Option D would drop the economy quite a bit and add a comment about developing a carless public transit system. It would also improve the environment.

I'd think of more, but I'm a little braindead tonight @_@

Religious Proselytising On the Rise

Religious leaders have noticed increased proselytising activities over the past year. They are agreed that action should be taken, but divided on what kind of action.

A)
"Don't we have a right to freedom of religion? I say we ban these activities once and for all," says LACU President Anne Hartmann.
B)
"The right of freedom of speech is enshrined in the constitution! It is a disgrace to the Lord's name to ban such activities," comments Father Albert Harrison.
C)
"We should preach through our actions, not by our words. I think it would be better to allow proselytising if it is initiated by the converted, not the converter," muses Pastor Jacob Maddox.
D)
"Why do we need religion anyway? It is scientifically proven there is no God, so why bother allowing people to believe such idiocy?" asks famous atheist Adeline Ohair.

A would increase civil rights but decrease political freedoms(less belief in the ability of the government to follow it's own laws). B would do vice versa. C would incrase civil rights, while D would greatly lower both civil rights and political freedoms.

Military Technology Classification

Lotus Technologies, parent corporation of your primary weapons manufacturer, Lotus Arms, is asking permission to release some of the second line hardware and software into the civilian products.

A: Lotus maintains that it can accomplish this without comprimising national security, and that this will provide a boost in other sectors of the economy.

B: General Billy Johammer says, "They can't be serious! Releasing that technology would cause huge disruptions in our national defenses. Give us more money so that we can deal with the problem effectively."

C: The Minister of State, who is your little brother says, "Why don't we follow the peace trend and take money away from the military, and remove classifications to allow free trade?"

Notes:
Does not occur when there is no private enterprise.

A: Increase Economy a lot. Increase Information Technology Level. Increase Retail Sector. decrease defense some.

B: Increase Military Spending. Decrease Political Freedoms.

C: Increase Economy some. decrease defense a lot.

Allow Homosexuals to Serve?

A recent patriotic fire has been brewing, and homosexuals are demanding to be allowed in the military to serve their country.

A: "I'm proud to be a citizen of <country>, and I want to serve in the military as an equal member." claims John Walker, an outspoken young homosexual, who has reached military age.

B: "Not only should gay men be allowed in the military, so should women. And we can serve on the front lines!" shouts Melissa Thomas, a prominent women's rights activist.

C: "What? Are these people mad? Fags and Feminazis in my military? If so, I'm outta here," says private (first class) Mike Smith.

Notes:
Does not occur if you have complusory milityary service.

A: Increase Civil Rights some. Increase Political Freedoms some. Decrease Military slightly.

Hate crimes

After a rash of hate crime swept across <country>, citizens are calling into question government policy towards these actions.

A: "It's not a crime. I'm just expressing myself. Why you wanna cut back on my free speech?" says David Johnson of the capital city, indited and facing trial for illegal racist remarks and discrimination towards minority groups.

B: "It's not free speech. It's just wrong. God loves everyone equally, and so should we." states Bishop Charles von Hipper. "The government should stop this in its tracks."

C: The police argue that, "This crime wave just shows lack of funding for the police force. We need more funds to prevent things like this from occuring."

D: "We should educate the people as to why hate is wrong," says noted civil rights leader Martin Brown.

Notes:
A: The same effect of allowing the Nazi's to congregate. "people may spew whatever trash they want from their mouths and by their actions"

B: Increase Religion. Increase Military. Increase Police. Decrease Political Freedoms. Decrease Personal Freedoms. "religous tolerance is a thing of the past"

C: Increase Police Funding. Decrease Personal Freedoms. Lower Crime. "police monitor activities through direct mind scans"

D: Increase Education. Lower Crime a small amount. "peaceful, slow change is the wave of the future"

How about a "Legalize Polygamy" question?

1: "Why shouldn't I have five wives?" asks Roy Johnson, Fundamentalist Mormon polygamist. "It's just practicing my freedom of religion. Why must the government intrude into a consenting relationship between a man and many women?"
(This increases civil rights)

2: "This is an issue of morality, not religious freedoms," claims Reverend Patrick Bonner of the Christian Civic Association. "For thousands of years, marriage has been recognized as a sacred covenant between a man and a woman. We must preserve our moral heritage."
(This does nothing)

3: "We're looking at this all wrong," says Senator Bill Boxer. "We should let a man have many wives, or a woman have many husbands, and we'll penalize them with a marriage tax every year. Yes, this is a win-win for government and the polygamists."
(This increases civil rights, but lowers the economy)

4: "They're just a bunch oppressive perverts," replies Sandra Femmz of the United Feminist League. "Those polygamists brainwash those women into multiple marriage, where the man controls everything. In fact, we'd be better off if we abolished Marriage altogether!"
(this greatly lowers civil rights)

Just a quick idea.

Nazi hate? Actully I would like that one lssue with the Nazi sympathizers to have more options (as right now it only has two). I suggest adding one option where instead of simpling "allowing" the parade the goverment endorses it "for the good of humanity" and one option where instead of simplying banned them from speaking, the goverment mows them down with AK-47s! and Executes all racists. That way it would have more exetreme effects and would be more fun because the people that like Nazis would pick the most extreme option where the goverment fully supports the Nazis and the people that hate Nazis guts would pick the one where the goverment executes them!

I've noticed that all of the issues pertaining to business give governments a choice between regulating big business and no business regulation at all. In real life, one of the main reasons I try to be a shrewd voter for big business regulation is so that small businesses are always assured a fair share of the market.

I would like to see a few issues that give me the opportunity to choose between favoring heavy regulation of all business, heavy regulation of only big businesses, regulation of no business, or regulation of only small businesses.

I think one should be allowed to regulate automobile pollution to within an inch of its life without stomping out the town lemonade stand.

apes in the (nation name) naitonal Zoo have learned to speak!!

A) Lillian Gregory of the (nation name) society fot the prevention of cruelty to talkin animals says "this is a glorious day in the evolution of life on planet nation states, our nearest brethern can finally talk, we must support and educate them and welcome them into society."

(choosing this one will increase civil rights, but your nation will die in several years when the dirty apes kill all the humans)

B)T.P. Braenus owner of the Gol Darned biggest Durn Circus in teh world says "heck people, I will buy these talkin monkeys, and I will take them across the world, and that way everyone will b e blesed as to see the talkin monkeys, Imagine how much the children will learn"

C)Hess Charleton of the (nation name) people first organization says
"this is a dark day for mankind, now all that lies ahead is slavery and eventual genocide at the hands of these damn dirty apes, these talking monkeys must be delt with now"

to the admins, the banning isn't such a bad idea. but if the delegate has the ability to ban everybody, then there is no game, none to enhance and none to spoil. i am a regional delegate, it seems i can ban almost everybody.

maybe to give a chance to democratic movement in the region (or its equivalent) we should put a limit to the number of nations that can banned. that way, even the delegate has to choose which oppositionists he should ban.

another idea is to have a period of total ban for a nation then the ban is automatically lifted. that way, these griefers won't control the game so much.

both suggestion gives a new dimention to the game. don't you think.

New Enviromental Friendly Car Invented

Clean Cars Inc. has invented the latest in green technology: a car that uses nothing but carbon dioxide as fuel and releases oxygen as exhaust. Lawmakers are arguing as to how to regulate it's use and whether or not to endorse it.

A)
"This car has passed all safety tests and regulations," says Mr. Charles Foley of Clean Cars Inc. "Not to mention a great mileage. It's a win-win situation for the enviroment and economy here. I hope the government will endorse us and our product."
(this decreases the economy a little bit but increases the overall enviromental friendliness of the nation)
B)
"Are you kidding me?" asks Veronica Erstley of Consumers for Better Diversity. "Clean Cars Inc. will monopolise the industry! We should ban their economic blight from this nation once and for all."
(this increases economy marginally and greatly decreases the civil rights, enviromental friendliness and technological innovativeness of the nation)
C)
"There's no need for a give or take decision here," says Hugo Bentley, your Secretary of State. "We should not endorse them, but instead, reduce taxes on the industry as a whole to let other companies catch up on the technological curve. We can prevent them from monopolising the industry and still have a clean nation."
(this greatly increases economy, technological innovativeness and enviromental friendliness)
D)
"What about the little guys?" demands small company owner Tony Merscher. "I think some of their profits should go to us," he explains. "The economy should be balanced out."
(this decreases economy slightly, but increases the corporate welfare level)

Political Redistricting: Legislature Excited

It is time, once again, to redraw the political district lines, to reflect population changes as documented by the national census.

A) Majority Party Leader Jerry Mander says, "It is our right, as majority party, to redraw the political district lines in a manner that benefits our party! We won at the ballot box, and to the victor go the spoils of war!"

B) Minority Party Leader Alan Ardmore says, "It may be their right to redraw the political districts, but they should not be allowed to draw them in such a way that it silences the minority opposition party! They have ramrodded through their agenda, limiting floor debate and public debate! They have sold out to the special interest groups, and this time they need to be stopped!"

C) Noted Libertarian activist Pip Squeak says, "Surely there is room for compromise here. I would think an independent third party could draw lines fair to all sides."

D) Political activist and community leader Fred Rogers says, "It's about PEOPLE, not politicians! Communities should not be divided and people's voices diluted to benefit any political party! They plan to split my neighborhood into four different districts in an attempt to silence our unified voice! Districts should be drawn as close as possible to a grid, and the lines only moved slightly every so often to reflect population shifts."

E) Noted Socialist leader Gimme Adollar has a different take: "Throw ALL the bums out! We don't need a legislature! All issues should be decided by direct referedum of the people!"

F) Lastly, your brother says, "For once I agree with that Commie Mr. Adollar. You know what is best for your people, anyway. We don't need any legislature, or referendums!"

Effects and Reasoning:

A- lowers political freedoms slightly, because the voices of minority opposition will be diluted.

B- increases political freedoms score slighlty, as the majority is thus prevented from usurping the minority opposition's voice, but lowers economy slightly, as economies tend to react negatively to political unrest.

C- lowers political freedoms moderately, as lines would be drawn by a third party...presumably to THEIR benefit.

D- raises political freedoms moderately, as this would represent the people's interests, and not the politicans. Also slightly increases economy as it would lead to more stability in the political climate.

E- raises political freedoms significantly, as this would directly empower the people. Lowers economy moderately, because of the expense involved in public referendums, and it creates uncertainty in the political climate.

F- lowers political freedoms significantly, as this would strip people of any say, whatsoever, in their government.

Obviously, this issue could be presented as a six-choice issue, or it could be split into two different three-choice issues. not all nations get all issues, depending on the type of government they have in place, so it could be that you have two different issues, each with three choices, presented to different types of nations in different ways.

What do you all think of this idea?

P.S. Yes, I live in Texas, and the idea for this issue is a direct result of the action of The Killer D's of Texas last week! (I supported this action, incidentally!!) Long live The Killer D's!! They are MY heroes!!

*coughChicken D'scough*

And just to bring up a valid point, if the point of actually running away to escape a quorum were allowed in the game, political freedom would of course jump, but on the other hand, your political system would face a breakdown every time that happened (remember, every choice leads ultimately to an extreme result), leading in part to a totalitarian system (due to the inefficiency of the legislature leading to increased powers being necessarily invested in the executive branch).

Thirdly: Democrats have gerrymandered for a loooong time. I guess they can't take some of their own medicine. (And by creating such a topic, you clearly show favoritism towards liberalism and force conservative leaning countries to look bad.)

Really, now?? You think?? Well, firstly...a bit of history for you... In Illinois, in the 1840's, future Republican President Abe Lincoln (then of the Whig Party) attempted to break a quorom in the Illinois State House by engineering a walkout. Then, Lincoln showed up himself, to force a vote on the issue of the Illinois State Bank, a favorite target of Illinois Democrats...and a political friend of the Whigs. Lincoln's staged walkout didn't work, as barely enough showed up to make a quorum, and then the doors were locked, so Lincoln escaped by jumping out a second-story window!! This broke the quorum. So your guys are just as guilty of this sort of political shenanigans! There's a bit of history for you. Should we have called them "chicken R's" or, actually, "chicken W's??"

Secondly...you show YOUR favoritism towards conservatives by calling the Democrats who bolted "chicken D's." They aren't...and weren't. If you were here in Texas, and understood the political climate here, you would understand WHY the Dems bolted...and why I feel they were justified in doing so.

The political districts are to be drawn once every ten years. They last were drawn in 2001...when the DEMS had control of the State House here in Texas. I'm not sure of the political miniutae that got the redistricting map put before a Federal court, but it was, and the lines were drawn by that Federal court in 2001...and the Reps should have to live with those lines for the next ten years. Furthermore...by law, all districts in TX must contain at least 611,000 constituents. In Austin (where I live) we are a city of 750,000 and currently are respresented by ONE voice...Sen. Lloyd Doggett. As a city of that size, we have EARNED the right to be represented by a UNIFIED voice. Instead, the Reps want to split Austin/Travis County into four separate districts, dividing our community and diluting our voice...to their political benefit. Never mind the fact that 70% of Austin/Travis County voted Democrat in 2000 and 2002, and thus this area SHOULD be represented by a Democrat...as that is the voice of the majority for THIS AREA of Texas. We want to be represented by a voice from AUSTIN...not some damned Repugnican, narrow-minded, bigot hick from Smithville, Flatonia, or (Heaven forbid) Bastrop!

Also, the majority party (Republicans) in this legislative session, have not even extended political courtesy to the minority opposition party...ramrodding through their narrow-minded, bigoted agenda of school prayer and gay-bashing...while ignoring important issues like the budget, school finance, and homeowner's insurance...then seek to blame the D's for work not getting done on those issues. Every single one of the controversial school prayer and gay-bashig bills has been ramrodded thru in such a way as to limit or eliminate all floor debate, to say nothing for public debate!
Lastly, the redistricting map...it was held secret until the 11th hour...and then, they attempted to ramrod THAT thru, again, eliminating any and all floor debate, to say nothing of public debate! And that map was drawn by Sen J. Edgar DeLay (sarcasm...actually it's Sen. Tom DeLay.) The map should be drawn by the Texas legislators in AUSTIN...not national politicians in Washington...and there's evidence to suggest Bush, himself, had a hand in drawing those district lines in the map presented by Sen. J. Edgar DeLay!! The only way the Democrats could even make their voice HEARD this entire session was to stage the very walkout they did. And it worked!

Oh, and by the way...the Republicans here apparently duped the Homeland Security Department into tracking former Texas House Speaker Pete Laney's plane from Georgetown, Texas to Ardmore, Okla...which is how they found the missing D's. That was NOT a proper use of Homeland Security...an agency Bush said would NOT be used for domestic spying. Yet, the Republicans perverted that agency's purpose, and used it for exactly that...domestic spying.

Also, the Justice Department was contacted, trying to get FBI intervention to extradite the missing D's from Oklahoma. That request was denied, as it was not a Federal matter warranting FBI involvement...and Oklahoma officials laughed at the Republicans' and Texas DPS's request that Oklahoma allow the DPS and Texas Rangers to extend their jurisdiction across state lines into Oklahoma to round up the missing D's. Not since WATERGATE has federal resources been used for a purely partisan political squabble.

All U.S. taxpayers should be up in arms over this misuse of Homeland Security, and DEMAND answers from Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge, as well as the White House, and Texas House Speaker Tom Craddick! DEMAND to know WHY Homeland Security resources were used...why FEDERAL resources were used in a partisan political squabble on a STATE level.

Oh, and yes, guilty as charged...I'm a liberal, and damn proud of it!! At least I got an open mind, unlike you conservo-creep bigot Repugnican bastards! Before you start calling them "chicken D's" just because you conservo-creeps didn't get YOUR way...take the time to find out the WHOLE story...not just what the conservo-creep buttkissers of Faux News will tell you!

for example gun ownership, rather than teach responsible owenership and use they scream" ban em all!"

conservatives can be silly too, but liberals just act silly, a lot more often

After a string of assassinations and bombings of various eminent abortionists and abortion clinics, the issue of legalised Abortion has raised a national uproar - from both sides of the fence.

1) Reverend Jacob Dystopia, a leading anti-abortionist, told the press as he was dragged away from the scene by police: "You're murdering the souls of the unborn! Ban abortion now!"

2) Eminent women's rights campaigner and well-known feminist Jessica Snyder, yelled over a feedback-afflicted microphone at a popular feminist rally, "WE'VE BEEN BATTERED, WE'VE BEEN BRUISED, LET US HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE!"

3) Christopher Bibbitt, your brother and Minister of Internal Affaires, says, "The crime level is terrible - we've got to ban extremist religious fanatics!"

Student's Grades Falling Rapidly!

In a recent study most of <nation name>'s student's grades are F's and D's down from last years high number of A's and B's.

Jennifer Gradient, a teacher in the Central <nation name> school district, says, "We need more funding to the schools! Our budget has been cut drastically in the past year. We can't even afford chalk anymore! I mean, surely we can cut some funding from <random funding area 1> or <random funding area 2>."
(choosing this option will increase funding to education and cut funding from random funding areas 1 and 2)

"Bah! Kids are all idiots anyway!" says senior citizen Biff Geezer. "Look at all the money we're throwing away at those munchkins! Get rid of most of the funding for education and give it to the military! We need to protect ourselves from the Nazis! The Nazis are comin' I tell's ya!"

New Issue Suggestion:

SUV's Suck!!

A issue group, SUV's Suck has been campaigning the Government to outlaw SUV's:

A - "The people who drive them are reckless, and dangerous! They care for no one's safety on the road, because they know theirs is bigger, and THEY won't get hurt," screams anti-SUV protester Fred Dredd, "They cause accidents by intimidating other drivers...I mean, no one likes it when someone comes right up on you driving General Patton's tank!!"

B - Environmental activist Dean Green agrees: "Not only are they a waste of precious natural resources, but the people who drive these things are out of control!! Highway deaths would go dramatically down if these gas-guzzling behemoths were outlawed!"

C - Automobile Manufacturing Industry leaders have a different take: "This is a horrible idea! It would bankrupt our industry! Fact is, people WANT these SUV's because it makes them feel safer. Besides, they are always finding more sources of resources, so who cares about conserving them!! We don't need to!"

Effects and Reasoning:

A - lowers Economy slightly, because a wanted product is taken off the market. Other scores remain the same, because, though one person's civil rights are arguably denied them inasfar as their automobile purchase...another's civil rights are protected in that they no longer have to feel in danger from aggressive drivers with giant SUV's

B - lowers Economy slightly for same reasons as above.

C - raises Economy slightly.

AMEN!! I hate SUV's, I normally ride a motorcycle and the soccor moms wo drive these frikin behemoths try their darndest to run people in smaller vehicles off the road, I had one actually force me off onto a median , I chased her down and luckily a cop saw what she did and he tried to ticket her and she started to get into her SUV and drive off, laughig that she had the right to be driving that way as she has a bigger vehicle, and it cost more, he ended up arresting her.

Maple Robertthorpe has recently displayed an exhibition under an NEA grant which some people find offensive. This has renewed debate on the purpose of the NEA.

1) Prominent performance artist Ru D'Joolyani says: If you want to have government grants for artists, then you need to allow for all types of art, even those that the average Joe may not believe is particularly artistic.
(Increases personal freedom, freedom of speech, raises taxes, increases education)

2) Bert Ernison of the Coalition for morality in art says: There is a difference between art and trash, and we all know it. Before grants are given out, art should be presented before a board to make sure it is morally acceptable. (raises religion & spirituality, greatly raises taxes, lowers personal freedom, free speech).

3) Jim Weedwacker, average Joe says: I don't think I want my taxes going towards this. I just want pretty pictures and nice music, not any of this weird junk. Art shouldn't be so controversial. (reduces personal freedom less than 2, lowers education).

4) Bill Downs, big wig says: This is what we're paying taxes for? Why do we need a national endowment for the arts. Why not eliminate the whole program? If people want art, let them pay for it themselves. (Greatly reduces personal freedom and education, greatly lowers taxes).

Here's one, while we're on the subject of wacky, pointless issues!

MagicChina godmodes again!

The people of <your nation> are complaining loudly that the nation of MagicChina/Magicians of Knights is godmoding again and want YOU to do something about it.

A) Reploid Productions recommends firing the Idiot Godmoder Noncontinuity Omni-Repellent Eradicator Supercannon Mk-IV "Pwnz0r" (http://rpstudios.ian-justman.com/junk/CGgoods/IGNOREMK-IV-1.JPG) at MC, and wiping him from this reality.

B) The SLAGLands recommends deploying the Really Freaking Huge Cannon of Justice (http://rpstudios.ian-justman.com/junk/CGgoods/RFHCoJ.JPG) and burying MC underneath a gargantuan cannonball (http://rpstudios.ian-justman.com/junk/CGgoods/RFHCoJ5.JPG).

C) Sephirus suggests nuclear deployment (http://rpstudios.ian-justman.com/junk/CGgoods/nukeboom.jpg), primarily a 60-megaton yield bomb and turning MagicChina into MagicCrater (again)

D) Sneaky Bastards says to just drop an RPRA-TS02 Purgatory class transport frame (http://rpstudios.ian-justman.com/junk/CGgoods/Purgatorydrop.JPG) (151 km long, 51 km in diameter) on the country and forget about it.

Picking any of the options wiped MC off the map and cues great celebrations in your country!

A party against democracy and favoring theocracy made major gains in local elections.

2. "Democracy only works if we play by the rules," says Prof. Agnos. "Politicians that refuse to accept basic civil rights cannot be allowed to hold office."
3. "We should implement the relgious code into our laws," says talk-show host Nelly Chamberlain. "That way there will be no need to vote zealots into office."

Stem Cell Research

A conflict over letting scientists use discarded or donated blastocysts for stem cell research has created such a furor in the nation that the issue has come before the Parliament for discussion.

1. "Actually stem-cell research could lead to wide-spread cures for numerous debilitating diseases such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's, and others. The government should support this worthy cause," says renowed movie star-turned-civil rights campaigner Buy Mitsui.

2. "You must be kidding. Stem-cell research involves killing fertilized eggs - essentially living human beings. It must be outlawed," exclaims popular right-wing television evangelist Barry Stein.

3. "There's no need for an either-or decision. I say we should compromise for the moment - let's make it so that stem-cell research is legal, but isn't government sponsored - and concentrate more on the economy," says Hack Utopia, a prominent centrist politician.

Choosing #1 will slightly increase civil rights, choosing #2 will slightly decrease civil rights, and #3 will slightly increase the economy.

Moshing Music Makes Marks

The Issue:

In [your nation here] last night, a mosh pit started at a rock concert, causing property damage and physical injury.

The Debate

1. "It's all the concertgoers' fault," proclaims Dred Furzt, the lead vocalist of the group, Chained Park. "We're not responsible for their actions in any way. We just get up on stage and play our music. Let us do what we want to do without getting sued. Up the security or something at the concerts."
[Accept]

2. "It's the bands' fault too, though," lobbyist Fran Dulcet complains. "They just don't want to take responsibility for the fact that they work the crowd into a violent frenzy every chance they get. What do they expect will happen when they do that? They need to be kept from doing that, so people won't be tempted to kill other people at dances!"
[Accept]

Picking the first choice would increase political and personal freedom and increase crime, while adding the line,

"Kill Everyone" is a chart-topping song

to the third paragraph of the country's description, and picking the second choice would lower crime, political, and personal freedoms, as well as the economy (because who wants to listen to endless mellow mush? and Politically Correct drivel for songs?) and add that

Music groups avoid controversial lyrics

Hmm.... hopefully someone likes that one....

And if anyone wonders what I really think about violent music being a major contributor to actual violence.... well, I don't expect a mosh pit to happen at a BS Boys concert.... but I listen to Disturbed myself, and observant people like the ever-forumwalking Ackbar should have a clue what kind of pacifist I am.

Bumping time...

Anyway, here's one new idea:

Railway Upgrade Promises Rapid Economic Growth

The Issue

The reputable transportation company RapidRail is proposing to upgrade the national railway network into a system of high-speed intercity trains.

The Debate

1."Employing magnetic levitation technology in our whole railway network would enable everyone to get around so much faster," says RapidRail CEO Richard Summers. "Besides, think of all the economic benefits from saving time. Remember, time is money."
[Accept]

2."Our national railway does need an upgrade," says consumer rights campaigner Alicia K. Stevens. "But not to the extent that we have to rebuild every single section of track. That would be a huge wastage of government money; and the use of financially unviable technology would drive up fares to the point that no-one would want to take the train. I suggest a more feasible alternative: electrify all the tracks and replace the outdated trains with high-speed electrically driven ones."
[Accept]

3."We must not let this plan proceed," says airline industry representative Jake Howards. "The high-speed trains will ruin the domestic air travel industry and may force the national carrier into bankruptcy protection. Anyway, this shows that…er…we need more public support from the government to expand."
[Accept]

4."BAN TRAINS! Get rid of those noisy machines!" shouts leader of the People Against Noise Organization chairman Renee A. Baker as she rallies a protest march in the capital. "Here is the perfect opportunity to eliminate noise complaints resulting from bypassing trains! Now is the time!"
[Accept]

The Government Position

The government has yet to formalize a position on this issue.
If you wish, you may simply dismiss this issue.

Issue Results:
Option 1 = Economy +1, description including: “[nation] …is remarkable for its incredibly expensive high-tech railway network…”

Option 2 = Civil Rights +1, Economy +1, description including: “[nation] …is known for its cheap and efficient high-speed railway network…”

Option 3 = Economy +1, description including: “…citizens are heavily dependent on airlines for travel…”

Option 4 = Civil Rights +2, Economy –1, description including “…the national highway system is notorious for its eternal traffic jams…”

Space Program Out to Launch

In light of the recent disappearance of the [nation name] Space Program's Mars Enquirer probe, the nation's newpapers and TV pundits have called the further viability of space missions into question.

1.) "The problem is that there is too little funding, and too little ambition!" says newspaper editor and SpaceConflict (TM) geek Ben Obi-Wan. "In order to make [nation name]'s space program great again, we have to aim high! I promise that if we increase funding by 50 percent, we can put a man on the moon within five years! Yodo (TM) so proud would be!"

2.) "Actually, our mantra shouldn't be 'do or do not'," remarks notorious talk show host Maury MacReilly. "It should be 'faster, cheaper, better'. We should concentrate on what we do best; really cheap missions with really cheap probes."

3.) "The loss of the probe reveals that the entire thing is a black hole we are throwing our money down," states concerned soccer mom and TV audience member Lavinia La Loop. "What about the children? The money could be better spent elsewhere, or not at all! Shut down the whole thing!'

4.) 777 Club host and evangelical leader Robertson Falwell has an idea of his own. "That there soccer mom is right. We should think of the children. Let's stop with all this fancy-pants rocketry and get back to the basics our children really need to learn. Like creation science. It's a science, you know."

1.) would raise taxes moderately, adds to description "the nation plans a manned moon launch"
2.) would raise taxes slightly, adds "the space program is being drastically streamlined"
3.) would lower taxes, raise Education and Social Welfare slightly, adds "egghead rocket scientists are fleeing the nation in droves"
4.) would lower Education moderately, lower Civil Rights slightly, adds "schoolchildren are taught that dinosaurs walked the earth at the same time of the Flintstones"

How about an issue which promotes Government funding in a sport, such as soccer (soccer isnt my favourite sport but its very international). get to fanatical and riot occur on a regular basis at matches (unless you have a strong police force or are just very nice people) there can be UN ranking occasioanally of the best soccer nation. if a country gets good enough or fantaical enough it can be good for the economy, and happiness.

how about an issue which seeks to put economic gaps between the Genders, or remove them, do countries treat women as well as men? the genders are treated the same so far.

how about issues which ask the government to regulate migration policy. does your country allow asains in? or maybe it dosnt trust the west? cultural diversity makes for more accepting people, but it can create conflict within.

how are the natives of your nation treated? are they the majority, or the minority? in government power or not. are they being cleansed by ununderstanding government? do they recieve citizenship as a right? if they are in the majority but not in power, are they upset at the the lack of representation (if they're being treated badly) or are they not concerned because they're treated with high respect. do they recieve special government handouts if they are not amongst the wealthy.

just a few suggestions.

My rapid posting on the ban-nazi flag made me get this one :D

The National Socialist party let a parade through [Nations name here] Square, much opposition to the parade has developed to the showing of Nazi flags in public.

A: You must allow the hated nazi flag to continue it's show in public says anti-communist Larry Smicklemurg, without our freedom of expression we have nothing (This would raise Political and Civil freedoms and make a note about rising members of the nazi party)

B: You cannot allow this pitiful action continue say noted French immigrant Francis Springer. The Nazi flag promotes hatred and anger in many people, ban it! (This would lower politcal and civil liberties)

C: Nazi! no no no no says General Steven Micheals, you sir must not allow not only the national socialists, but no nation parties at all, and execute your opponents. (This would lower your Politcal liberties and make the government a Father Knows Best States)

D: Noted government activist Vladamir Russian-Name says: Well sir I think you should allow it but allow a collective parade of Communists, Socialists and Green Beanists following it to let the people know theres more (This would raise civil and political libertys and make a comment about a mixed legislature)

This one I made about the LA police beatings

Several drug thugs have been killed and beaten by police in the capital, much debate is on the rise,

A: Noted Humanitarrian Sully Rasputin argues: You must stop this action in police and punish thouse involved (This would raise civil rights)

B: Police Cheif Andrew Morhugger comments, The drug lords had guns and were throwing deadly rocks at us, we had to, personally I think that punishment should be given out by the police themselves!
(this would lower civil liberties)

C: The only solution is to relax drug laws; said noted stoner Danny Rogers; the police cannot kill drug lords if theres no laws against the drugs can they? (this would raise civil rights and the economy)

D: I think the best solution is to get rid of the government. No government no police, says noted Anarachist Richard Smith (This would put you at the Anarchy rating)

You're Nations Capital is changing in one major Ghetto, criminality is rising and there are robbings in the Governmental Centre what to do?!

Option 1.

Street Thug and popular Rapper Jay-X: Only Nigga's are in da Ghetto ya know what i'm saying, so we should fight against discrimination and the social welfare should rise.

This will lower crime and Economy, and will add the line; Jay X has a hit outside the Ghetto.

Option 2.

Police Officer John McKlane: We should raise police numbers, there should be a Policemen on every corner and a Police Surveillance Car in every Street (except in those of the rich people)

This will also lower the crime and raise police force and will add the line; There's a policmen on every corner and a Thug too.

Option 3.

Mother of 17 kids Sue Pregnant; We must raise the Education, Universities should be free and everybody untill 20 must go to school.

This will raise the Education and the line will be add; Universities have too many Students.

Option 4.

Klax-Klex Clan Member Adolph Hater yells at everybody while there are protest against him outside: We should kill everybody; the black, the jews, the muslims, communists.

This will lower Civil Rights and Public Freedoms and the following line will be add: Klax Klex Clan members run in the Ghetto and execute people daily but the police does nothing.

Some groups claim that acess to the Internet should be free.

1) "For too long has the Internet and all it's benifits have been confined to the wealthy," says worker Samantha Freg, "the internet should be a free place for all!"

2) "The Internet really should cost less," says social reformer and technical worker Josh Igro, "but completley free? It costs money for the connections and sattelites and hook ups and services. Just lower the price to make it more available."

Should heavy metal music be banned?

Some people want heavy metal banned.

1. "Those bands are ruining our children" says Stölkaöç Klamþëç'a, "They should bebanned and the CDs burnt for rocket fuel."

2. "These bands may be unscrupulous, but a ban isn't necessary. We need to educate people about the harmful effects of these bands", says N'ëç Klamþëç'a.

3. "We can't ban them, no matter how harmful they may be. They have freedom of speech.", says Jean Luc Skywalker.

4. "Not only should heavy metal be legal, it should be manditory to listen to it.", says Kyle Solo, lead singer of Soydeans.

The new youth rebelling religion of (nations name) is demanding that UFO research, documents, and information before held secretly by the government be released.

Like we have a right to know what the people who control our lives hide from us, and like this is not like deadly information we are talking about." says Derf Culty founder of the Derformation religion.

OPTION 2: " Oh please we in government are keeping this information safe for your own sake" yells Rev. Bob Right " We dont want some whacko on a new eckie going out and starting some whacked out religion that is anti-God and pro-alien. Where has the true religion gone?"

i just read the whole six pages on this thing, anyway i think some people are coming up with great ideas and we've got a large enough base of issues here that we could really add some variety to the game if whoever implements changes actually gets off their butt and puts them in. :D

HOWEVER, some people seem to be getting bored and coming up with the most ridiculous things - a prime example being the issue about the one guy not coming up with any issues to post. :? other than that u really need to look @ your spelling - i can't even read some of this stuff. :?: the grammar is not such a big deal, i know it's fun to play around with all the different dialects and stuff, but still some of you are taking it too far and its getting hard to understand.

also remember that this thread is not to discuss the validity of conservative, liberal, and middle-of-the-road views. if you really have to argue about that, start your own thread. 8)

Pro-life Boycotts Receiving Much Attention

A prominent pro-life group has recently begun a movement to boycott Lisa's Pizzas after the restaurant donated coupons to an abortion clinic. With nothing else in the spotlight, this occurrence is receiving a lot of attention from the press.

1. "We have to protect unborn babies!" exclaims Melanie Anderson, leader of the boycotting group's decisions committee. "This restaurant is sponsoring murder. We can't allow that. Abortion needs to be outlawed!"

(lowers civil rights, makes abortion illegal except in cases when the mother is likely to die otherwise)

2. "These pro-lifers are like, totally insane," says actor and political extremist Bobby Chrasma. "Look what they're doing! They want to regulate us. Hello, we're supposed to be free people right? Doesn't free mean choice? Pro-life groups are what need to be outlawed, not abortion!"

(lowers political freedoms, makes pro-life groups illegal)

3. Teenage anarchist Claire Leyonce has a different view. "Geez, chill. Screw all this $$$$ about outlawing stuff. We've got too much government as it is. The pro-lifers boycott this place, we come here to replace 'em. Seriously, just let us fight it out ourselves."

(increases political freedoms, adds no new laws)

A few old concerned grandparents from The Organization for the Continuation of Traditional Ways of (nations name) have expressed concern about what things there little tots are learning about in school. They complain that things like communism, nazism, dictators, socialism, and everything against God should not be thaught at schools.

OPTION 1: Mary Poppins from The Organization for thw Continuation of Traditional Ways of (nations name) approaches the podium. "These public schools should reflect on what their government does it should not be a place where bad ideas such as communism and dictatorships should be thaught in. Our government should teach our kids about its economic system and its form of government not some form of economic system used far away , if we do not act soon then some kid will arise from our public education system and turn our nation into a backwards rouge state."

OPTION 2: Willard Backwerd from the Green Party yells " Our kids need different ideas we need to challenge their mind. If I remember correctly (nations name) is a place where different ideas are allowed, we cannot allow that freedom to be taken away from us. Some of these ideas are bad in many peoples opinion but if someone believes in it then good for them, let the freedom to believe and challenge the system live forever."

OPTION 3: Pop culture fanatic Red Pop yelps " Oh come on this is easy and will ensure everybody the chance to learn what they want to learn. PERMISSION SLIPS are the answer to this problem. If you Traditional Ways people want your kids not to learn about this stuff then dont sign the permission slip, if you want your kids to learn this stuff sign the permission slip easy as that, now let me listen to this new Britney Spears CD."

I just want to make sure that, since the rumor is confirmed and new issues WILL be forthcoming...that my most excellent issue idea gets proper attention....

Obviously, this issue could be presented as a six-choice issue, or it could be split into two different three-choice issues. not all nations get all issues, depending on the type of government they have in place, so it could be that you have two different issues, each with three choices, presented to different types of nations in different ways.

as Infinite Loop said "what to do with the dead jews" is bad. I have seen that the game does include a few fictional civil rights issues. I suggest that NS 1.x expand on these issues. If your nation has big problems with niceness and racism then you get this issue. ( Torture your fake citizens however you like it's just 1100101 to them)
UN Observer Allen Mycontrol has issued his report on the situation in [nation name here] This nation has almost ceased to function as one entity. The northern provinces are dominated by Bigtopians, who control all government posts and almost all businesses. To the south the furry people have isolated themselves by harassing others until their cities have lost diversity. In the central metro region, a core of die hard loyalists controls the national government and commits hate crimes against other groups. We call this region the Liliputian Triangle.

1) Liliputian leader Ivanna Gettall says " This nation was founded by Liliputians and ruled by Liliputian monarchs. If it wasn't for the little people we wouldn't have civilization. Make it clear that the other groups can have their autonomy, but we will continue to run the national government exclusively for our .. erm, everyonoe's benefit. It's for their own good.

2) Furry spokesman Harry Tanner "We've had enough of life in this nation. We demand an outside council take over and dissolve the previous government. From now on, we build walls around the ethnic regions and dont associate with anyone. "

3) Bigtopian mayor Star Skye says " With elections and a new constitution life here wouldn't be that bad. Our language is the same if people would admit that. Our religions and politics are more similar than people realize. Give the people of [this nation] equal and educated representation, guaranteed civil rights and freedom. Everything will sort itself out.

Option 1 has the least effect on your nation. Civil rights suffer a bit. Political freedom suffers.

Option 2 will be drastic. Forget about ever leading your region in the nicest people. You will have extreme government, political freedom is outlawed. Your economy would be crushed.

Option 3 The economy recedes as the new government is installed, but will rebound later. Crime is a major problem. Political and Civil rights are increased dramatically. Your country will have a very good rating as less extreme.

Let's have one for us dictators...

Riots In The Streets!

The people have grown tired of having their wills crushed, and have risen up in arms to try and affect change.

A) "Oh, this is bad," says your brother from under the table. "These guys are going nuts. Maybe we should install some puppets to make them think they're getting the right to vote."

B) "ELECTIONS NOW!" is written on a piece of paper tied to a brick that was thrown through your window.

C) "Wimp," your sister snorts at your brother. "This is stupid. Just send in the military and kill them in the streets, and leave the bodies to rot. It'll send a message they won't miss."

Option A will ever so slightly increase political freedoms, and slightly reduce crime as the populace is placated for awhile.

Option B will increase freedoms greatly, and produce a sharp reduction in crime. It will also slightly lower the economy as business gets used to the new government.

Option C will finish off any remaining Political Freedoms, and damage the environment (due to the corpses in the streets). It will also put the fear of God into the populace, adding a line like "People are afraid to say anything against the government, lest they get shot."

Might be a bit gruesome, but nobody said that we insane dictators were friendly.
17-06-2003, 19:05
This is for people like me who have an imploded economy but won't give up our ideals to improve it.

Lots of people are rallying in the squares, hoping someone will give them a job. If anything, they're not about to lie down and accept their fate. Pressured to find new means of business, the government of [nation's name] must look into options other than those currently being employed.

1. "There are resources we've hardly explored," points out Gerard McCallister, economic advisor. "Take the trove of malachite near our eastern border for example. We could mine it, separate the copper from the carbon, and tremendously boost our copper reserves while simultaneously creating a new industry."

2. "Well, I agree somewhat," says Marcia Lenys, a noted environmentalist. "But surely there are more environmentally friendly industries we could look into. We could start a coffee industry, possibly - I know coffee is very popular in other countries. Plus, we could easily pay people to pick up garbage or do other things to help the ecosystem."

3. Seventeen-year-old Indigo Montclair suggests a different option. "Just free up the private sector a little. I know several people who are just waiting for that to happen, so they can open up their own shops. Besides, don't you think it's kind of ridiculous that *lemonade is the only private business around*?" (Depending on the state of the nation, replace *-bracketed section with "there's no private business" or "there are so few private businesses")

#1 increases economy, impacts environment, adds a note about mining copper ore.

#2 increases economy, helps environment, adds a note about a new coffee industry and paid environmentalism.

#3 increases economy, increases political freedoms, modifies the second paragraph in the bio making the private sector healthier.
17-06-2003, 19:24
Oh, I'd like to add an option #4 to the last issue I posted.

4. "What, you're going to listen to these people?" exclaims your sister Brianna, on a fever of 107. "You don't need to do anything new to get people jobs. Just make them quit, and I'll take care of it!"

This option would make the economy plummet, and increase crime rates shortly after when the public realizes that nothing is going to happen.

Is there a campaign finance issue?

Actually, yes, there is. If you have a liberal nation you get a campaign finance issue. One of the choices is banning corporate money from politics, another is to allow it in "you say free elections, I hear vote-buying....", the third choice is to do away with elections entirely.

So there is a campaign finance issue already.

Today, hundreds of protestors demonstrated in the capital of [your nation] against the conviction of serial killer J.O Pimpson to Death Penalty.

Choice B) " Whoa, are you saying we should let the killer free?!" yells conservative judge Peter Mullet while accepting bribes from mobsters, " If we don't kill this monster, [Your nation] will become a haven of criminals and murderers. So that every [Your nation]er can sleep well, I say, toast the bastard!"

In order to make death penalty truly a "penalty" we should torture the convicted to death in slow painful ways, like with burying them alive or burning them at a stake or performing Chinese nipple torture or playing them Barbara Streisand's best hits. That way crime levels would plummet. Hey, why are you taking me away?! I'm not crazy!"

Of course, that wouldn't have anything to do with justice, but who cares about justice, when we'll earn ridiculous amounts of money from it!"

Hmm... how about this?

A national botanic garden measuring 100 acres for [insert nation here] and its people is proposed.

OPTION 1: 'Yes!' says botanist Kos Herbert, 'This could be a great way of getting children to learn about the natural world! (This will promote enviroment a lot and education slightly)

OPTION 2: 'It's an idea', says Soda tycoon Lenny Aide, 'but perhaps we should use this in a more industrial way? We could have a gigantic orchard for lemons and oranges and other fruits we could put in our dri- I mean we could get a lot of fruit.' (Ups Enviroment alot and Soda Sales a lot and economy slightly)

OPTION 3: 'Fruit?', says Lumberjack Woody Gregson, 'we need the wood! Do you realise just how little bog roll we have? Or paper? We don't even have any chairs to sit on any more! We have vegetables as it is! What we need to do is grow plenty of good solid oak trees!' (Ups Enviroment slightly and ups economy, furniture restoration, woodchip industries a lot)

OPTION 4: 'What a ridiculous idea', says renowned contradictor Georgina Brush, 'We could use this area for factories that can actually make us things! What do we need trees for/ Sure they look nice, but 100 acres is way more than enough! I say we use the land as a technological park'. (Ups economy a lot and information technology a lot and lowers enviroment a lot')

OPTION 5: 'This land is too good to waste on trees!', says General Bullrush, 'We could use this expanse for our soldier training and arms research, we can't have [insert nation here] being invaded and our soldiers just sitting there with no idea what to do! Think man!' (Ups military spending a lot, arms manufacture a bit and lowers enviroment a lot)

The issue: Voter apathy and corrupt politicians are symptoms of the declining value of citizenship.

Choice A: "Of course citizenship is being devalued," states Hobert Reinlein of the Coalition of People Who Read Too Much Science Fiction. "The only effort required is to keep breathing until your eighteenth birthday -- and even that isn't necessary in Chicago. What we need are people to *earn* their citizenship. Reward those that volunteer for a couple of years government service, either in the military or in some necessary field here at home, with citizenship. Citizens gain the ability to vote and run for office, work in the government, and represent people in court."

Choice B: "What a stupid idea -- how can we call them 'Freedoms' if they aren't free?" declares Ima Couch-Potato, director of Status Quo Forever. "Sure, you want to weed out the undesirable foreigners, but everyone born here should be given citizenship on their 18th birthday."

Choice C: "The problem with voter apathy and corrupt politicians won't be solved by restricting citizenship to people who actually serve the country," claims Iwanna B. Free. "Let everyone who wants to claim citizenship or run for office do so. By increasing the pool of voters and politicians, we'll make things more exciting."

I'm not sure what the various votes would do though

Have an issue where you could endorse or forbid a drastic change in your country's governance.

An anarchist candidiate becomes spokesman of your senate and proposes to dissolve several layers of government. In response, a big-brother organization has demanded that the anarchists be banned from government office, public political speech be censored, and that the senate be forbidden from changing a long list of government policies.
You can also declare yourself dictator and outlaw elections, while promising people that it's for their own good, to protect the nation.

Option A results in a nation where government as it's known is unheard of, crime skyrockets, and political freedoms are at the top.
Option B makes political freedoms severely restricted, civil rights are a wildcard (could improve or fall)
Option C also damages political freedom. but no other effects are specified. You would change into some form of government like "father knows best" or benevolent dictatorship. even a psychotic one if you can get there.

I have another option for my possible issue, which I will display in it's entirety here, follwed by my addition...

G) Noted public advocate Rolf Nadir has another idea: I think the Socialists and the Libertarians have good points here...why don't we take it to the next level? How about forming a citizen's redistricting panel, which would consist of an equal number of people from each party, and they would all be citizens, and from different areas of the country. It is the people's future and their representation that is affected by redistricting, so they should have the ultimate say...take the redistricting out of the hands of politicians whose political careers ride so heavily upon where those lines get drawn, and put the power back where it belongs...in the hands of the people!

Option G would Moderately raise Political Freedoms, as it gives power to the people. It might have a slight effect on Economy, either up or down, depending on how the financial world takes it...this could be a random effect. It would also add notation in your nation that political districts are drawn by a People's Redisticting Committee.

Option 3: Run away, very quickly.

You're brother is attempting to kill you, what to do?

Option 1:Send Superman to him
Superman will take the power and kill you, you're nation get's banned
Option 2: Kill you're self
This will get you're nation banned
Option 3: Kill you're brother
You murderer, you're nation get's banned

Dismiss will lead to total destruction of the democracy in you're nation, reaction is that the people take the power and you will be killed in this take over, you will get banned.

CEO of Greedy Money Cult complains his religious organisation has to pay corporate taxes. We claims we are a legititate religion and should not pay taxes as God commanded us as taxes are evil.

A) CEO of Scientology agreeds and wants all religious organisations to be tax exempt. "We should not be paying taxes as we are not really making money" he says.

--- Issue reduces taxes highly
--- Adds text "Cults are on the increase on avoid taxation utilising tax-free status"

B) Athiest Bob says religious organisations are just greedy and want to pay less tax while making money. "Add a religion tax and make these people earn there money" he says.

--- Issue increases taxes highly
--- Adds text "Cults are on the decrease and becoming corporations"

C) Bishop Beedle agrees, but he wants mainstream religions to be tax-exempt, while wackos like Scientologists should still be taxed.
