Issue with an Issue *spoilers*

I wondered something about an issue, and I appologise if this is a spoiler or something:

********************************************************
Scandal Rocks ***'s Government!
The Issue

A tabloid magazine, The National Incriminator, has revealed the sordid details of an affair between one of your top advisors, Robert Lotsalovin, and his secretary.

The Debate

1. "They found out I did WHAT?!" Advisor Lotsalovin says in his morning meeting in your office. "This just can't happen! How can government officials do their jobs properly if we have to work under the constant scrutiny of these idiotic supermarket tabloids? I say tabloid newspapers must be banned, and we must not allow newspapers to speak ill of our government officials... for the good of Gaian Peace, of course..."

2. "Unbelievable!" says Reverend Peggy Longbottom of the local Catholic church. "Our government officials must be held to a higher standard than this! Mr. Lotsalovin must be removed from office and jailed. We cannot allow such disgusting corruption within the halls of justice!"

3. "Whoa, whoa, hey, now..." argues Senator Al Bush. "What happened to Mr. Lotsalovin is no different than affairs that happen all over Gaian Peace every day! Before you know it, they'll be after YOUR sexual history! I think what we need to do is take the public attention off of it somehow, perhaps by... oh, I don't know... giving them a tax cut! That'll divert their attention from this momentary distraction just long enough for Mr. Lotsalovin's divorce process to end!"
********************************************************

I always wondered (while not totally realistic, I understand that) the option I would personally choose is never there, here is what I would like to see! (unrefined of course, I can't write this stuff very well, but you'll get the general idea hopefully)

4. Who cares? Let it happen, why interfere in other peoples lives? If the guy is doing his job he can cheat on his wife as much as he wants, he's not employed to be morally 'right'. It's not a great example I agree, but the public are free to vote him out in the next election and then run for government themselves.

So in other words, why distract people from it? People are usually far too busy complaining about stuff and then quite happy to sit back and do nothing about it, like the anti-war people that just sit at home and complain about the war, yet when given the chance to actually DO something, they don't want to.

I'm not very good at getting my point across so please feel free to ask questions, if you want to. Thanks for listening

I totally understand where you're coming from and I agree completely.
I recently got this issue too and decided to dismiss it because I thought that the options were too extreme for my taste.

The options on issues are supposed to be extreme, as this is supposed to be a political satire. Moreover, as issues are meant to affect your nation stats, there's little point to adding an option that requires the government to do nothing. If that's what you want you can always do as Vadraf did and just dismiss the issue.

That option is there already, it's called "Dismiss.";)

Ah but I thought of that too, two things arise from issues, what appears the next day in your news and how it affects the 3 main sectors (civil rights/political right/the economy).

So here are the two things 'not doing anything' will affect:

Next day news: You could have something more serious like 'politicians have been seen on night out with many women and men, none of which they are married to' or something more cheeky 'Politicians can be seen leaving public speeches whilst zipping up their trousers'.

How it affects the 3 main sectors: Well it effects civil rights doesn't it, letting people 'do what they want' like in many of the other issues where you are (only seemingly) doing nothing, and thereby letting people decide for themselves how moral or not to be, and to arrive at a set of their own morals.

Interesting you didn't comment on the other part of my message, but nevermind.
It would affect civil rights though, clearly....so I'm not sure what you meant.

Mind you, any idea I've ever come up with on here has either been ignored or I was told I was too stupid to understand how it didn't worked, so I don't know why I bothered bringing it up to start with.

...That is what status quo means, isn't it?
