We, the representatives for the people of the Holy Empire of Mundington, have been faced with the issue of Human Embryo Cloning, but we are reluctant to make a stand on this, as we feel uninformed of the true nature of this issue. There are a couple of grey areas that we would like cleared up.
1. Is human embryo cloning inhumane? At what stage of the Embryos development is it aborted. We are a nation of realists, and christian fundamentalist viewpoints are not tolerated, as to whether or not the embryo has a soul. We are aware that everything has a soul, and some souls live longer than others. We would be prepared to sacrifice these souls if the outcome were deemed appropriate.
2. Is there a way we can guarantee that the human clone would not ever be allowed to go full term, as we believe that human cloning for slavery, and military purposes is immoral.
3. Is there anything beneficial that embryonic cloning offers, that stem cell research does not?
4. The 'placard waving protestor' that stands against HEC. Is he just a protestor, or does he have some formal qualification on the matter. Is his judgment based in religion, science, or just basic human empathy?
If anyone can cast some light on these issues, it would help us greatly to come to an educated resolution to the issue, otherwise we will dismiss it.
Thankyou sincerely.
