Something strikes me as wrong

so i'm reading the issues, and this has come up several times. Some of the things that the nation states do doesn't make much sense. Like today when i got an issue on if weed should be legal, to where the work place guy says they should be allowed to smoke at home but not at work. Well work is a private property, and under just about any law, you can forbid things on your property. Smoking is legal but many buildings are non-smoking. So if his point was only that there was too many smoking at his work, then he should be fixing that on that level, not on the national level.

This isn't just here, there are some cases were really, it should be left to the private matter and if a company didn't like it, they should fix it.

I think nation states really lacks some basic thought of free markets (at least my nation is setup as a free market) where people dont only have one option, that they can choose between several options and competition should keep things down.

Then you can choose to dismiss the issues if none of the choices agree with your political views. Alternatively, you could wait until your population becomes large enough and try your hand at writing some.

Part of the fun is comprimising your beliefs in the hopes of selecting the lesser of several evils.

That's just the thing, there are often places where a compromise would be the ideal solution but none is offered. Just in the two days I have been playing two of my issues were all-or-nothing options: Ban bicyles or ban cars (wtf???), and today it's either ban all gambling or allow 8-year-old children to gamble. How about AGE LIMITS, people? That kind of unrealistic forced choice isn't "part of the fun"; it's no end of frustrating. I know, I can just dismiss an issue without deciding on it - I can also not play at all and get the same amount of satisfaction from doing nothing.

The idea of a game that lets you shape a culture based on government style and the consequences of your decisions is very appealing and certainly different from shoot-em-up mmorpgs; that's what attracted me in the first place. So I hope this doesn't come off sounding like a rant of "I'm playing this free game and I'm not getting my money's worth" - it's really just meant to be constructive criticism in the hopes of making gameplay more enjoyable for everyone.

"Fun" is relative. For me, the issues are easily my favorite part of the game. I like the issues BECAUSE the arguments and options are so extreme and unreasonable that they're hilarious.....then I look at the real world and shudder.
