New Issue Idea

I'm not good at the 'tree-ing' idea, i.e. what should happen as a result of your option choice via the use of a seperate issue.

My idea is about call in quizzes on TV, which have recently (well, sort of) been all but banned in England, something like:

[Title] Calling (in) for a ban?

[Issue description] Recent television based call-in quiz show legitimasy has been called into question over answers that were concidered to be too obscure, several groups wish to have their say.

[For argument] CEO of the hit Japanese created show 'Swizzcall', Toe Tal Rypoff, says "So what if people can't get the answers? it's all possible if people actually put their minds to it, nevermind that the show is only on between the hours of midnight and 5am, it gives you something to do when you stumble in from the pub or if you're an insommniac, plus what women do you know that DOESN'T carry sparkplugs in her handbag anyway?"

[Against argument] Ricky Brent, Spokesman for the Watchdog for TV Quiz shows had something else to say however "Sparkplugs in handbags? Barrington Farquaharson as a popular name for a pet dog? these answers are not acceptable and far too obscure, we need a total ban on any prize giving connected to call in shows, and just TV, a total ban covering TV, radio AND competitions of any such nature!"

[Call-in Addict Answer] 'Jolly' Kril Pilkington from Manchester, frequent caller in of Swizzcall has stated "Why not let people do what they want with these sort of thing 'ennit? I have lost a load of money right, called in 97 times and not even got through, but then I won a load of money later on to pay the phone bill and that, so... good ennit' right?"

[Compromise Answer] Steve Seller, former cheif scheduler for TV channel 'QUIZ NOW!' butts in and says "I don't work for these sorts of things anymore but I still want a say in the matter! Why not compromise by keeping the shows on the air but also funding a regulatory board of governers to over see operation of..." He then takes a breath to continue "...these quiz shows on all channels and radio? I suggest we impose a limit on the amount of money you can spend per 24 hours periods plus limit the amount of calls you can make to any one show over say... a week or so, that'd work!"

[Government Answer] Your minister for finance has a different opinion however "I agree with that funny sounding guy at Swizzcall, but he's not going far enough, we should bump up those call prices, make the top prize higher, yet unattainable via a series of impossibly difficult answers, then spend all thet lovely cash on slap-up dinners and new trousers.... oh and maybe something like a new car park for the peasent public too, to appease them, these gullable fools will keep calling in no matter what we do!" He then trails off into maniacal laughter.

How was that? It took me ages to think of and type all that out, so any suggestions? Did I miss anything out e.t.c? Thanks :)

I don't have that much expirience with admitting issues, but I think you might need to delete the Japanese references.

I don't think there can be Real Life References.

This thing I am basing the issue on (all names are made up e.t.c) happened in the UK, so saying one gameshow in Japan (that I also made up) actually removes it further away from reality if anything, not closer to it.

But yeah I can change 'Japan' to 'ForeignLand' or something if you really want me to I guess.

Read the stickies in this forum for how to use NationStates variables. All those names and cities need to come out.
