I made the death penalty illegal yesterday and today I get the message: "Extreme Political groups are outlawed." I've never made the death penalty illegal before, on this account or any of my puppets, so there is a slight chance that maybe it was some other issue, but, maybe I sound like a nub, really how does banning the death penalty = outlaw extreme political groups? NS is exaggerated, but that seems quite a stretch for my logic.

Seems to be what you've chosen. If so, that last sentence is pretty much what could sum it up for you. Extreme political groups = politics of hatred and fear.
