In about 2-3 weeks, I got my taxrate down from 70% to 3%. It's all good as is.

Wouldn't Technical be a more appropriate place for this thread?

We need more taco options.

There's a wide variety of tacos out there and we must sample them all!

Stupid poll. Taxes should be higher on the upper classes and lower on the poor. No more corporate welfare. Where's the option for that?

Taxes on consumption, that is taxing the goods and services highly, only ever ends up hurting the struggling large families because they purchase alot of consumption products yet don't have many hard assets or capital outside of their house. Taxing wealth and capital is the best way to go.

Eh, I just disregard my tax rate anymore. It's so utterly divergent from the reality of my RPs that it's irrelevant.

"The scene in the Senate Budget Committee this past week was a disappointing one, I think, for the American people. They seem to be in full-scale retreat from spending cuts and are talking about raising people's taxes again. When push comes to shove, I guess it's always easier to let the taxpayer take the fall. Well, let them be forewarned: No matter how well intentioned they might be, no matter what their illusions might be, I have my veto pen drawn and ready for any tax increase that Congress might even think of sending up. And I have only one thing to say to the tax increasers: Go ahead, make my day."

If I remember correctly it is easy to lower taxes without changing your nations stance: dismiss issues

As I understand 100% tax would essentially be a planned economy.

Dismissing issues doesn't lower taxes.

It does nothing at all.

Correct. Dismissing them makes it seem like you never received the issue in the first place. ;)

While it might be possible to use a new issue to determine HOW nations generate revenue, I think this is actually a better starting feature:

Nations will tend to have a balance between:
- Income taxes
- Property taxes
- Bond measures
- Use fees
- Import Tariffs
- Sales Taxes

Is there an issue that could roughly do the following *only* for nations that exceed 100%:

1) Decrease income taxes,
2) Decrease property taxes,
3) Use govt bonds to reduce general taxes,
4) Decrease sales taxes,
etc.

The game text options could then reflect impacts on other sectors based on changes in taxation.

Is there anything like this? I'm roughly thinking this could be like how we can pick a military strategy, but instead this would be a taxation strategy. If there isn't such an issue, I'd like to take a crack at making one. :)

I have my income taxes at "Unheard of". Apparently the key to lowering taxes is to cut spending. In your issues, if you pick the option where the government supports some program or starts a new initiative, taxes will rise to pay for it. If you go for a more libertarian choice where your government does nothing but protect basic rights, you will have no programs such as health care, public education, tourism advertising or whatever. So taxes go down because you have a "cheap" government.

But to answer the original post, as I always say on matters of issues there should always be 4 options:

The liberal option where you are supporting personal rights, regulating the economy taking a pro worker/environmental stance, or starting government programs supporting positive rights.

The conservative option where you are taking a moral stance on personal behavior, keeping the economy free of regulation or taking a pro-business stance, and outside of national security and moral righteousness having no government programs.

The statist/fascist option where government is contolling all personal/private behavior, planning the economy from both the worker and business end, taking a big chunk of the budget for national security/policing and having many government programs/ministries involving all facets of life.

The libertarian option where the government only protects rights to freedom, life, and privacy, with no programs outside of police and courts and leaving the population to protect the nation.
