Question about taxes

My country right now is Democratic Socialists, which I know means the tax rate is usually high, but even without me doing anything the tax rate is constantly increasing! Is this somehow related to the choices I'm making on non-tax-related issues?

If you make choices that involve having the government pay for more stuff, guess what? The money has to come from somewhere.
... a point that seems to consistently evade the "gimme free <everything>, dammit!" proposal authors in the UN ...

Thanks, that's pretty obvious isn't it. Oh well, had to ask.

My nation has no income tax :p
Which merely means that your government gets all its money from fees and other transfer payments; and/or that your citizens pay for everything directly via the private sector. It might cost you $20 to drive your car 5 miles down a rutted two-lane road, or you might have to pay some developer thousands of bucks for the 'privilege' of building your home on the ground above his water table; and then owe thousands more to have your well drilled.
Nothing is free. Everybody pays ... somehow.

My nation's latest drink, 'Mountain Doobie', will take people's minds off that :D

What a sobering thought. I think I need to invest in a good tasting drink, 'cause my income tax rate is outrageous!
