A New Capital? Capital idea!
During a recent meeting with your cabinet, the topic came up that the conference room is “old” and “outdated.” Some of your advisors want to build a new capital. Should you do this?
[validity] all
[option] “Of course it’s old and outdated!” says @@RANDOMNAME@@, your defense minister. “I could see a tank knocking down one of these walls any second now! Obviously, we need a new national capital. Sure, we’ll need to raise taxes, and maybe bulldoze a rainforest, but trust me, it’s worth it. Building a new capital is the only way that we can be safe, and of course it will impress foreign diplomats. By the way, put my mansion next to the world-class golf course, will you?”
[effect] a massive construction project is underway to build a new national capital
[stats] taxes go up, administration goes up, environment goes down, corruption goes up
[option] “A new capital! Are you kidding me?” laughs @@RANDOMNAME@@, your education minister. “Sure, it might be nice, but we just can’t afford it right now. Don’t worry, there isn’t really any danger in keeping our current capital. What we should actually be focusing on is something useful, like our children's education!"
[effect] education spending has recently risen at the expense of a new national capital
[stats] education goes up a little, administration goes down a little
[opinion] “Are you crazy?!” yells fiscal watchdog @@RANDOMNAME@@, knocking down one of the walls with a tank. “My question is: why do we even have a national capital? It seems like just a big waste of money to me. What we really need is some economic stimulus: sell the capital to a private company, lower taxes, and move the government to a regular office building. And hope that foreign diplomats can still find it.”
[effect] the government has sold the national capital in favor of an office building’s basement
[stats] taxes go down, corruption goes down, administration goes down, patriotism (its closest equivalent) goes down
