Dismissing issues (possible spoiler)

Lately I have been dismissing a lot of issues, because NONE of the options sounds like what I want to do with my state. But it's a bit of a shame. Let's look at one I got recently.

"Road Rage Rampage"

You basically get three choices. One is expand the roads (means tax-increase). The second option is to invest in public transport etc. (mean also tax-increase) and the third option is butt-out and leave the road-ragers to their violent means. No tax increase, but also not an option I'd like.

I could think of a fourth option that's in my opinion much better. Big fat fines for traffic violations. Means income for the state when someone behaves like a moron, and if the fines are really hight, less chance of people taking the risk of behaving badly.

Issues are only edited for typos. We know some of the issues don't have enough viewpoints but it is Mod policy not to change them.

Well, the downside to that seems clear. There are lots of issues to go around, but about half of them need to be dismissed because they don't give the proper solution for your nation!

Like one of the ones I got today, about the compulsory gun ownership? I get the option of compulsory gun ownership, the option of voluntary gun ownership or only with a permit registered gun ownership. What about the option NO GUNS? Only police and military allowed to have guns, any other gun-ownership is illegal. But that's not one of the choices.

So I went for the registration, which is the best of 3 poor options.

A reply to this by mods has been posted many times - a quick look through some of the stickies on this forum should find it.
Basically, the whole point of issues like this is to force you to take a course that you may not want to. You can't always do what you want in real life, so why should you be able to here? Do you think governments always pass laws exactly the way they want to? No - opposition parties force them to compromise on some things. Similarly here, you sometimes have to accept compromises.

Compromises? In a dictatorship? What opposition is that exactly? And in what coalition do I have to make compromises? It's, in my opinion, a rather silly response to my complaint about some of these issues.

ANd if it's the moderators' general response to these type of complaints, it's probably more to have something to say, rather than going into the discussion each time.
