Lowering taxes

I read the Sticky about repetitive issues. But Im still wondering why, with a tax rate of 95% in my nation of Tropicalmontana, I can't seem to get the issue for lowering taxes.

For four months now, I have been requesting two issues daily, and out of those 160 issues, I have only been presented with the tax cut issue once.

I even quit the UN because every time something passes, my tax rate went up, and then i could never get an issue to get it back down.

According to the Sticky, I should qualify for a tax cut issue. Do the issues come up in random order? Is it just sheer luck that I haven't had the tax cut issue show up? I have not had this problem with any other nation. It is getting very discouraging.

First of all: I think you need to reach 100% tax before you can get that issue, so raise taxes until it reaches 100% and then wait for the "A Taxing Dilemma" issue.

Also, if you role-play, 100% tax can be useful for giving you a larger national budget and military spending, so I wouldn't get too concerned.

This gives me an idea - how about an issue asking to raise taxes for countries with 0% income tax?

Unnecessary; it's easy enough to raise them from there. I managed to get one of my larger nations from 0% to 20% in a few days.

Whilst I'm not sure about issues, you can be a bit clever about UN resolutions, if you're willing to fluctuate membership. The following resolutions - I would guess - would decrease your tax rate:

Any Global Disarmament proposal
Any repeal of an International Security or Education and Creativity resolution

I've had the Taxing issue in nations with low tax rates. In fact, just today, my nation with a 27% rate got the issue.

According to NS Tracker, I already have NO military or defense or commerce spending. = $0.00 --My RP is as a pacifist, isolationist island nation.

Even when i think i'm cutting programs, I can't get my govt spending or tax rate to come down. Did you know that allowing streakers will increase your govt spending?

Due to state-funded healthcare for the ones who get pneumonia, maybe? ;)

No one gets pneumonia in TropicalMontana. It's a sunny, balmy island nation.

I can't even get an issue to reduce health care :(

ANd my main nation got the Tax Cut issue YET AGAIN TODAY. And its tax rate is only at 19%. It has gotten the issue three times in the last two months, while my other one got it only once. *sigh*

I would assume that it would decline in spending if you avoid the issue completely.

Pretty much, but NS Tracker is better because it doesn't tell you that it can't get hold of your statistics because your region is too large, and NS Tracker makes pretty graphs for you.

I have dismissed easily 200 issues with no resulting reduction in taxes.

Finally i got an issue about Inheritance tax. That should help out a little, unless inheritance tax is separate from the income tax figures. We'll see.

Option 2 decreases taxes, admin and increases commerce.

As for issues that decrease taxes a lot (and almost if not always admin):

issue - option - decrease
Citizens Struggle Under "Unfair" Tax Burden - 1 - Seems to always be 11%
Budget Time: Accountants Excited - 4 - 6%
Minorities Demand Representation in TV Soaps - 3 - 5%
Where There's A Will There's A Tax - 2 - 3-4%
Electronic Plague in @@name@@! - 2 - 5%

Hope that helps.

WHEEEeeee....

It worked. And i got the issue twice in three days! Yay.

Then the Spiritual Advisor quit for another three percent drop, and finally One to cut subsidies to special interest groups for a fat ten percent drop.

78% never looked so good. keep em coming!
