This issue is valid only for those with a curfew for young people.
The Issue: Police officers are overwhelmed with young people's blatant disregard for the national curfew. Most police chiefs argue that a night in jail is not enough of a deterrent to youngsters, and crime among adults is actually on the rise because officers are preoccupied with curfew violators.
The Debate
1. "This is too much to handle!" shouts an exhausted police officer calling you in your office. "I have to round up hundreds of curfew breakers every night, and because they're kids, I have to take extra care with them! I say enough is enough! Stop treating kids with kid gloves. It's time to send the repeat offenders to a nice long sentence of hard labor. And if I get some punk teenager who gives me any lip, I should be able to take out my gun and blast him into next century. That'll clean things up."
