Last Post for Mail System?

After it was reported that a significant proportion of mail posted if either damaged, late, stolen or lost, calls have been made to abolish government help to it.

[option]“The postal system is in turmoil and all government still gives it money even though it knows it is dying!” says @@RANDOMNAME@@, Director of Postfast. “People just don’t want to use the old system anymore, private companies are much more efficient and offer a better service. The government must stop helping the old public sector giants and help us smaller businesses.
[effect] government stops helping postal service
[stats] economy goes up, satisfaction goes up, tax rate up, postal funding up,

[option]“@@RANDOMNAME@@, CEO of @@NAME@@ Mail is outraged “We provide a good service for many customers and have been doing so for nearly a hundred years! The government must increase funding to us and stop other companies from hustling in on the postal business!”
[effect] government increases funding to mail service and bans all competitors
[stats] economy goes down, civil rights go down, satisfaction down,

[option]“The thing is that it’s all outdated. Posting a letter takes days; sending an e-mail takes minutes,” says your science advisor. “What if we just invest money in the internet, let the old-fashioned way die out and then make a killing!”
[effect] government lets old system die out and invests in e-mailing systems
[stats] economy goes up a bit, unemployment goes up, tax rate up

[option]“But if the old postal service closes what will happen to the stamps?” cries avid stamp collector @@RANDOMNAME@@. “How about we just privatise the mail system and allow other competitors to move in but continue with government funding to the postal service?”
[effect] mail service privatised, competitors can move in, government carries on funding mail service
[stats] civil rights go up, satisfaction up, economy up

This issue was made up pretty quickly and it certaintly isn't one of my best but let me know what you think anyway. (It has been submitted but I will submit it again if I feel it could be improved)

Outdated Rules a Law Unto Themselves?

After a man got away with homicide after exposing a loophole that allowed him to kill his wife with a trombone at 5:45 on a Sunday. Calls have been made by the legal profession to systematically eliminate all out of date laws.

For all nations

[option]"These arcane laws are a disgrace to @@NAME@@!" says your legal advisor @@RANDOMNAME@@. "Like there is one that means you can attack 4 or more Bigtopians because they can be considered a war party! We must employ a team of lawyers to go through every law we have and eradicate all the stupid, out of date ones, leaving us with a very efficient legal system with no loopholes."
[effect] government employs lawyers to get rid of all silly, out-dated laws
[stats] tax rate goes up, crime rate goes down,

[option]"Oh come up lighten up a bit" says @@RANDOMNAME@@, author of 'The Big Book of Silly Laws'. "They are just a bit of fun and we must treat them that way. I mean think of the cost, I'm sure it would cost something? I say leave them be."
[effect] criminals exploit laws for greed and police can do nothing about it
[stats] crime rate rockets, civil rights go up, economy down

I wrote this issue again pretty quickly but let me know what you think. It is a bit quirky but I like it. (I have submitted it but will submit it again if I feel it can be significantly improved)

Lot's of grammatical mistakes. The first issue seems kinda useless, but the second one I like.

The bit about Bigtopians in the second one is from the outdated English law about Welshmen, yes?

Also, crime wouldn't sky-rocket from number two, and also, the effect sounds really stupid. Re-right the effect.

No I got it from an obscure one about American Indians but it could exist for Welshmen as well. Although there is one about a castle somewhere (Chester) and you can kill Welshmen with a longbow at sunset or something...

I think criminals would exploit the laws for money/private gain or whatever. Also I think that the effects don't have to be completely realistic and this is more of an obscure issue.

Well, most criminals aren't that smart. Yes, crime would go up, but not so dramaticallly.
