Issue name: Should witches be hunted?
Description: People are scared to go to work because of paranormal happenings

The debate:

[option] "Yesterday when I was going to the church i saw two guys floating in the air!" says the leader of "No for demons" group @@RANDOMNAME@@. "Is that normal? I don't think so! Hunt them down!

Hmmm...I'm not sure whether the issue is acceptable, I mean is it possible? I personally dont agree and I'm not sure whether it would be accepted. Also the options and description need to be longer and more carefully thought out.

There are already some pretty weird issues, by RL standards, such as ones about artificial intelligences or genetically-engineered super soldiers...

Yes but they are possible (or may be in the near future) but witchcraft? As a christian I don't believe in it and I think I am in the majority. Issues should be problems governments would have to face in real life(excluding easter eggs and Sal isn't making any more of them any time soon).

An issue was under fire for the word 'witchcraft'. It offends the people to think that witches are in their 'nation'.


A mod went under fire, for locking threads in the matter.
This caused spam threads in here
This, seemed to be mentioned over TWO YEARS if I am correct
Finally, It discouraged people from using 'witchcraft' issues.
And, I don't believe in witches,

Well, i made this issue for fun. Yeah, i agree that this can't happen in real life so it shouldn't be added to issue database. :rolleyes:

If you want an idea just have a look at the newspapers/internet then check if its been done on the spoiler then just develop in with the help of the stickies and you will have more sucess.

Maybe you could go more Monsters in the Closet... instead of witchcraft.. but you word it in a way that people think they are real without having evidence that they exist Ie not something like people floating in mid-air

They are special VERY rare issues that can only be gotten if you meet a special condition that only mods know... ;)

I can see Wiccans getting really annoyed by this issue. Imagine, if you will, that you changed the language to read that Christians ought to be thrown to the lions instead of witches ought to be hunted, then think what Christians would say about the issue.

I would suggest that offering a nation the possibility of religious persecution is perhaps not the best way to go.

I realize that this is probably not what you MEANT, but I think it is how it may well be received.

Two of the issues in NationStates are 'easter eggs' (silly little obscure things we put in for a laugh) which can only be got by achieving some particular (secret) stats on your nation.

As I remember one of the conditions for the first issue is having 'Holy' in your pretitle.
