Name: Killer Chemo?

Description: A recent website called “chemokills.org” has emerged, demanding that radiation therapy be made illegal.

Validity: Nation must not have outlawed pharmaceuticals or the making of cures for diseases.

Options:

[option]“Chemotherapy kills as many people as cancer itself does!” cries chemokills.org site owner @@RANDOMNAME@@. “It doesn’t help patients at all; all it does is hurt or kill them! We must outlaw all radiation therapy immediately and start working on alternate ways to cure cancer! Sure, some people will die while we’re working to find a new cure, but a few sacrifices have to be made in the name of a safety to the populace!”
[effect] cancer deaths have hit an all time high after the illegalization of chemotherapy and the search for a new cure
[stats]taxes increase, happiness goes down, government size increases, healthcare funding increases

[option]“I agree with chemokills.org’s goals, but I don’t think they go far enough!” says @@RANDOMNAME@@, a local temple leader. “God obviously wants the people with cancer to have cancer, or he wouldn’t have created in the first place! In the name of a more religious @@NAME@@, I say we ban all research into cures for diseases! While we’re at it, let’s make religious attendance mandatory! I mean, my religion is right, so why not obey its laws?”
[effect] the government has outlawed all medical research in the name of God
[stats]taxes decrease, healthcare funding decreases, religion and spirituality funding increases, civil rights decrease

[option]“Are you insane?!” shouts well-known doctor, @@RANDOMNAME@@. “Chemotherapy, while not perfect, saves lives more often than it ends them! This right wing idiocy is ridiculous! What we need to do is increase healthcare across the board so that we can help even more people! Oh, and those religious idiots need to learn to shut up about things they know nothing about!”
[effect] baldness rates have gone through the roof after a recent surge in chemotherapy
[stats]taxes increases, healthcare funding increases, economy decreases, civil rights increases

[option]“You’re all thinking on to small a level,” says leader of “Citizens for a militaristic @@NAME@@”, @@RANDOMNAME@. “We need to round up all people carrying lethal diseases, and shoot them! I mean, I might not have researched much about cancer, but it’s contagious, right? Anyway, we don’t have to spend as much tax @@CURRENCY@@ on healthcare and we get rid of people that could infect the entire nation with their disease: everyone wins!”
[effect] the government funding death camps for the sick
[stats] civil rights go down, taxes go down, economy goes up, healthcare funding goes down

Could this really be an issue? I mean isn't it accepted by nearly everyone that chemotherapy is an accepted cure for cancer? Maybe I will be corrected but if it is an accepted medical treatment then why would your government make a decision about it?

Well written issue though and I liked option 4. Maybe if it were to become an issue you could put an option in by a patient with cancer as they would have strong opinions on the subject.

Thanks for the positive reviews. Also, I only really wrote this because radaition therapy does have a chance of hurting cancer patients. Also, there are those religous people who think diseases shouldn't be treated, so it works.

That's hilarious! Yes, I think you should submit it as is, too and good luck with it.
