Kids And Criminality: Whose Responsibility?

The Issue
Recent studies showing that the sources of Radiant Twilight's most common street crimes (vandalism, muggings, joyriding, and witchcraft) are children under the age of criminal responsibility has prompted a national outcry for government action.
I know there are varying opinions on the matter. However in my case, I find the fact that "witchcraft" is listed as a crime among vandalisms and muggings is an extreme insult. I would hope that Nationstates administration would revise this issue to remove witchcraft from the list. Even if this is a game, I don't like a culture I belong to being listed as a criminal act.

You KNOW, before even reading Radiant Twilight's comment about the issue, I stopped reading the issue right when I came to "witchcraft." Now I know NationStates is not to be taken so seriously, but when I read that, I was thinking that it could be offending to people. And it is.

But I have different reasons. Witchcraft isn't real, and of course neither are our nations, but ... I am losing this argument, aren't I, lol... STILL, I see how it really could be offending to people, and NationStates is a widely-known & played game, so I just don't see how one little edit could effect so much more of the game.

And, sorry to be quoting a moderator, but:

Not going to happen. Don't take everything so seriously.
I suppose you assume anyone who deals with something one way deals with everything else similar the same way. :( But really my main concern is if ANY issue on NationStates are supposed to be taken seriously. Some people are dedicated to their nations, and want them to be really awesome and perfect, according to their beliefs and all, but... It's just... If this issue should not be taken so seriously, should any issue?

And I know that our nations are supposed to be an exaggerated form of what we would want... Er... Jeez I am so totally losing. Here, close this board, I guess, if you'd like, but do you see where I am trying to go with this? Do the people who edit the issues know about this kind of problem? I hope so.

There are issues which are much more insulting to many more people.

I also think it's offensive in the present form... you should at least amend it a little to read "harmful witchcraft" or something like that.

Yes but I think that the idea of children practicing witchcraft would shock most people.

But really my main concern is if ANY issue on NationStates are supposed to be taken seriously.No. The game is a satirical take on politics. We don't change issues to avoid offending liberals, conservatives, pro-nuke, anti-nuke, pro-military, anti-military, capitalists, socialist, democratic, dictator, monarchistic, communist, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, atheist, deist, agnostic, anarchist, criminal, married, single, gay, straight, or transgendered people, why the hell should practitioners of "witchcraft" be treated any differently?

I closed the thread for a reason, and I'm closing this one too. It's not going to change. People hallucinating from ergot in the 17th century don't get special treatment.
