Weird stuff happened in my nation.

In nationstates. (Weird stuff is always happening in Portugal, and we can complain to the "staff" all we want...)

Anyways, my "Corporate Bordello" became a "Compulsery Consumerist State" with two issues that were in no way political. Happened last week. I'm only posting now because I thought the forums were down/busted, whatever.

Where should I post this for help from the staff? (I'm affraid to post in somewhere more official... Mod's scare the hell out of me. Modfobia, I guess).

I think it is supposed to work that way.

The correct forum would be "Got Issues?" which is in the "Nuts & Bolts" section. Or maybe "Technical." Try one of those.

Oooh, you shouldn't have mentioned you're afraid of moderators; I'm just going to have so much fun with you. At any rate yes, this thread does need to be moved and I will do so shortly. Some issues have ridiculously drastic effects especially early in the game when your nation is more sensitive to policy changes. If you're anything like the rest of us, you'll settle into a category here before too long and will hardly move again after that.

Still, it would help to name the issues if you're curious as to their effect.

By passing these two laws: "the country's famous rainforests are being bulldozed by the mining industry, and thieves are flogged in public for their crimes", I went from superb political freedoms to few.

Seems that you chose option 3 for the issue "More Police Needed". While I would guess that it would affect Civil Rights more that Political Freedoms, I suppose I can see how it would have some sort of impact if I stretch it, since the criminals have less freedoms. I don't think that the other issue, "Uranium Deposit Promises To Enrich @@NAME@@", really affected your Political Freedoms.

In the game, you're going to have to try to read into the issue more than it's telling you if you want to try and figure out it's impact, and it's not always going to follow your preset notions on how things should work. When I had my other nation funded medeival faires as a response to the issue "Should the Government Grant Estates and Titles of Nobility?", I certainly didn't expect it to boost my economy. Still not completely convinced about that result...

...and now I just had an odd response in my nation. In issue #72 "Widening Buttocks Cause Movie Theater Havoc", I chose option 3 to allow people to chose what they want to eat and do in terms of their health, as opposed to forced exercise, banning fast food and heavily taxing junk food, and gov't. supported liposuction. This cause my Civil Rights to drop from World Benchmark to Superb.

My question is, why did it go down? Is it because I have a lot of healthcare in my nation, and it's hurting the people who have to pay the taxes more than it's helping the people who have the ability to chose what they want to do with their bodies? That seems like a huge stretch, but is about the only thing I can think of. I'm just looking for the general reasoning as to why allowing people to chose what happens to themselves hurts Civil Rights, especially since I've never heard of "second hand fat" or anything like that.

How about some mod / official response?

Got Issues isn't the most active place for mods. Bumping when needed (in this forum, not more than once per day if that) should keep it alive until a mod wanders in.

What is Melkor? Chopped liver?

Read up a few posts. You got your official response already.

Why's this thread constantly disappearing? I have to keep searching to find it.

The reason it disappears is most people's profiles are set by default to show only threads from the last 24 hours. You can change this for individual forums by using the 'From The' option at the bottom left. You can change it for the forum as a whole by going to your Profile, chosing Edit Options, and scrolling down and changing the Default Thread Cut Off Age from Forum Default to however long you want.

As for the reason you haven't had a response, I really do think it's because the mods consider this answered: Melkor Unchained replied that issue changes are exaggerated, especially in the sensitive early days.

It's not just the early days... I went in about three decisions from "Basket Case" to "Reasonable" and then afterwards to "Very Strong" in the economy ranking. Civil Rights and Political Freedoms also change frequently (between Excessive and Frightening for CR and Widely Abused and Corrupted for PF). Of course, some old-timers will say that I'm still in the early days....

Anyway, I think this thread has served its purpose and ought to be locked, so we just have to wait for a mod to come along and do that.

I get the impression that you aren't being very polite to the admin :s I'm thinking you should say you're sorry.

I have to disagree, because of this:

Since me and One-Balia have provided this data, there's obviously something to be said by the mods.
