Actually, many issues have more than 2 options. A quick scan of issues confirms that the majority have more than 2 options (but don't quote me on that - it was a very quick scan!), and some have as many as 6 (and possibly more, but I haven't encountered/spotted any such).

This is a political simulation game. And sometimes politicians have to make black and white distinctions. As such, expect to sometimes be pigeon-holed into a position you're not wholly comfortable with. That said, there are a good many issues that present relatively distinct options, and then offer up a middle ground.

Beyond that, if you really want to go into detail about your laws, that's something issues can't provide. They're there to provide basic choices - summing up all the choices, great variations in nations but also great degrees of subtlty are possible - but early on, it can be difficult to see. Thus, a good option if you really do want to (as I saw you mention in another thread) outlaw gambling only for children is to RP it - post an announcement in II along the lines of 'Sweden1974 has declared that only those over the age of national majority may engage in gambling'. You may well get responses from puritans arguing you haven't gone far enough, libertarians arguing you've gone too far, and gambling companies trying to negotiate with you.

So, in terms of issue legislation, there can only be so many options - not every shade of grey can be catered for. To alleviate this, roleplay is a good option. And if you're not keen on the forums, simply build an NSWiki (http://ns.goobergunch.net) page for your nation, and post announcements every time you come across a contentious issue.

Of course, of course - your point was that it's good to have several options so that people can avoid extremism. Well, anyway, glad to have been of help.

I say the more options the better. And I hate the issues with serious options. Everyone keeps saying this isn't supposed to be a serious game, but many of the options are pretty dull.

Pitholm's national animal is the icebear, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the kronan.
Is sounds to me like English-as-a-second-language, probably from a Swede. The Kea, keep your snide comments unposted.

I'd like to see the options clarified a bit as to their effects as i am Left wing but i've some how ended up with a corrupt dictatorship with few political freedoms.
