You know, this keeps driving me a little nuts. There are so many of these situations where taxes seem like an afterthought.
Legalize prostitution under government regulation and have to raise taxes to handle licensing, examinations, etc.
You know what? I'm a dictator. I don't want to regulate prostitution. I want to control prostitution. It should be able to create revenue rather than causing me to raise taxes.
Okay. In my country convicts get to be slave labor. Good for them. You know though, why aren't we using these new slaves for revenue as well? I rent them and a retinue of guards to a company for unskilled labor. The funds gained from this go into increasing education and law enforcement/prison funding.
