How Issues Affect Your Nation

I know there is a thread around here somewhere that details just how every issue affects your civil rights, economy, and political freedoms. Does anyone have a link?

No, and there won't be one. This is a simple game, and part of the fun is figuring out what stuff does. Spoiler topics take away that fun.

Is that an official moderator response?

I'm just curious, because I'm sure there's several of us who could create a spoiler thread for what each issue does do for those who are interested.

With all due respect, Fris, for some people knowing what the effects of a given issue are might enhance their gameplay experience as well. With the number of issues not very high, it gets boring once everything begins repeating. Thus, trying to figure out what effects each issue selection has and sharing that information might be a way to interact on other levels that the more technical players enjoy.

After all, there are threads that tell you how to get the UN category of your choice, why not a thread created by a player to detail just what each issue choice does to your ratings?

No, I'm not a game mod, so I can't rule on how the game is organized. However, I'd bet the farm that any such official thread would have to come from [violet] or Salusa, as none of the rest of us want to reveal the OMG secrets behind the curtain.

While I'm sure there are people who would like to see the effects, and play this game mathematically rather than with an element of mystery; it's my hope that those people are a very small minority. If you can get amusement by figuring out the effects yourself, posting such results would deny anyone who read such a thread a similar pleasure. That's why it's a spoiler, and that's why I'm against it.

Yes. [edit] well, now it is.

Not accurately, you couldn't. 99% of theories I've read about issues are either wrong or misleading.

Unless every issue choice was randomly selected from an infinite number of variables, anybody could figure out exactly the technical value of each selection per issue as it effects the national description. It wouldn't be that hard.

I understand why NS would want that data not to be released, but I think it's valuable data for some of us, and eventually it'll come out and be correct.

Not exactly. It's more complicated than that.

Anyway, such data will not be released and I would argue against attempting to classify everything as I can guarantee you'd get it wrong for reasons I'm not going to disclose.

That's my final word on this matter.

To think -- all that time it was your cup that was poisoned. They were both poisoned. I spent the last few years building up an immunity to iocane powder. :p

Why would it be impossible to correctly classify issue effects? Is everything random? Do stats change without rhyme nor reason? Is the server buggy? And why won't you say?

Apparently, it's more complicated than it appears to be when you submit an issue, which might explain why very few issues make it into the game. Oh, well, wish I would've known that before I began keeping track. *shrugs*
