Title: Saving the National Airline

@@NAME@@ Airways, @@NAME@@'s National Airline, is in severe financial trouble. Corrupt managers and high costs are causing the National Airline to file for bankruptcy in 2 months.

The Debate:

1. "The state, owning 65% of @@NAME@@ Airways stock, should support us," says @@NAME@@ Airways pilot @@RANDOMNAME@@. "Letting the airline file for bakruptcy will have it's consequences. Thousands of jobs will be lost, not only the airline staff, but also airport workers across the globe. I suggest the government remove the corrupt managers, cut down on unncessary costs, get a good internal watchdog and give financial support to the airline!"

2. "It's all the bloody airline's own fault" says taxi-driver @@RANDOMNAME@@. "There was no good watchdog to control everything. Just let this airline go to waste, it's not worth investing millions into it."

I really think it needs more options.

Option: Just give money to managers, offer subsidies on fuel, etc.

Option: Government takes control of the airline, air travel becomes government monopoly

Option: Let it go bankrupt

Option: Outlaw civilian air travel in favor of other mass transport

Option: Establish regulatory committee that will take months just to examine the problem much less fix it

Xenodracon, some other issues on NationsStates have either two options. It's black-or-white.

"Option: Let it go bankrupt"

I already have that.

"Option: Outlaw civilian air travel in favor of other mass transport"

So how to get around then?

I mean, it would be easier HAVING an airport in your country. It makes travel to other places easier.

You may need to add qualifiers for this issue. My libertarian-style government would never own an airline. You may simply want to change this part of the option.

Overall, your issues are good ideas, but need more options. Yes, not having airlines would be mighty inconvenient, but perhaps another version of this option would only have foreign ownership of airlines. To get from one city to another by air, you'd have to fly out of the country!

Massive deregulation might be another option, with the effects of regular plane tragedies that could easily be avoided.

Spelling Nazi :D : The word 'bankruptcy' in Option 1 appears as 'bakruptcy.'

Other than that, throw in deregulation as an option.

Also, you should insert the descriptions that occur after an issue is processed, and the consequences that the options will have on the nation.

I also agree that there should be an option about the government taking over the all airlines completely.

How about one using the issue as an excuse to ban internal & external travel completely, introducing internal passports & checkpoints?

Right, thanks for the ideas everyone!

[effect]None
[stats]None

[option]"Let it go bankrupt," says ultra-right-wing activist @@RANDOMNAME@@. "If you let the airline fall, we could get a much better grip on our people. All the employees at the airport could be trained into police-officers, and help man our checkpoints."

On the first option, change the [effect] to something like "the government spends billions on periodic bailouts for the airline industry" or something like that. Try to make it funnier.

For the third option, change the [effect] to something funnier than "disgruntled frequent fliers no longer have an airline to fly on."

And for the second option, you need to come up with some [effect] and [stats]--its current results are no different than dismissing the issue.

it could be good idea (although maybe it can't used, since there isn't industry like that). but to me, it look like you will to change some things.

Title: Saving the national airline!

Description: Your national airline, @@NAME@@ Airways, is heading towards bankruptcy. A corrupt management and costs are spiraling out of control. change the second sentence to something like "the @@NAME Airways workers demand the goverment will make something".

Validity: Every nationwrong, it's validity was only to countries that has national airport (mean they wasn't choose before one of the options that dismiss it)

[option]"Save the airline," says Pilot @@RANDOMNAME@@. "@@NAME@@ Airways is important for the economy. If you don't support the airline, thousandsa of jobs could be lost! I suggest the government takes over this airline, installs a new management and also installs a good internal watchdog."maybe you should write here:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Save the airline," says Pilot @@RANDOMNAME@@. "the goverment should care for the workers who depend on those jobs and support our company. "he right" say @@RANDOMNAMW@@ your finnance minister. "but if we are going to investegate on the company, we should get power in the company, like choosing the management, for example."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
btw, maybe it will help if you will seperate the govermental ruling, and the goverment funding, since many nations have pro-business capitalistic goverment and the choices should let it be.
[effect]Economy improvesif you stay with the goverment ruling, it could be better to write: "@@NAME@@ airlines become public company"
[stats]The economy improves on your country's page. (At the top of the page, next to civil rights.) first you should change it to "economy increase", without all the things you had. second, I think this wouldn't effect the economy, but "increase taxes". and if industry like that was existed, it would remove her.

[option]"Let it fall into foreign hands," says businessman @@RANDOMNAME. "This way, the government won't have to dirty it's hans with something like this."bad choice. maybe replace it with: ----------------
"let it bankrupted" says businessman @@RANDOMNAME@@. "this is free market, and the goverment shouldn't be part of it. beside, if they fall it mean they can't manage properly and it shouldn't exist. my company take this market if ypu will renove the stupid laws of the workers terms."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
[effect]None maybe make it: "the market his open for many new companies, that employ the workers of your national airline in hunger salaries.
[stats]Nonethis could "increase economy", as it gave more economical freedoms.

[option]"Let it go bankrupt," says ultra-right-wing activist @@RANDOMNAME@@. "If you let the airline fall, we could get a much better grip on our people. All the employees at the airport could be trained into police-officers, and help man our checkpoints."I don't think you need to put 2 choices that made the same thing with different arguments. beside, as airline companies going to many airports (even outside the nation), it wouldn't help to dictarors to destroy this company, and therefore it is bad option.
