NationStates has a flaw

This game is fundamentally flawed. The consequences of issues are based solely on one man's political opinions. HE decides the outcome. But not all people think like him. That's why in the real world there is so much debate, because no one really knows exactly how everything is going to turn out.
I've lost interest in this game.

This is a forum for roleplaying. The issues aren't meant with much seriousness. The consequences are meant to be funny. This belongs in Issues or General, anyway.
Another member of the fast-food generation, thankfully lost to obscurity.
NS is SO much more than just the game.
So you're saying that you'd like the game more if you WEREN'T able to make the decisions?

Uhm... I guess this goes in Issues. There it may generate some sort of reasonable debate or something.
Any decision you make will have negative consequences. The game combines multiple political viewpoints in an effort to mock yours.

Well, of course it is strange that one person decides in a demoracy (in a dictatorship it's okay ;) ) but otherwise the game would be unplayable. And you can always pretend that you are doing what the people or the senate wants or at least what would be good for them. (And don't forget there have been actual cases of democracies that have become dictatorships... )

I thought the issue writers, a large group of people, decided the outcome of issues...some are Max-written issues, but it seems the majority are written by residents here.

Political decisions tend to have undesired outcomes. The effects on your nation's statistics aren't always apparent -- the comments added to your nation's page are more for comic effect.
Take a look at the Issues writing guide for a better understanding of all of this.

I suggest you read the game FAQ before making such grandious statements.

Max Barry only wrote about 30 issues to start off with. New issues are sent in by players, which are then moderated and included in the game (if they are deemed suitable).
Besides, it's a free online game. If you don't like the issues then you get what you pay for.
