Idea: Widespread Hereditary Mutation

The issue: A hereditary mutation which causes abnormal muscle development and stunted intelligence has begun spreading through <Nation Name> at an alarming pace.

The debate:

"These abominations must be stopped," an outraged citizen declares, "before the entire nation is overrun with them! We need to deport these mutants and execute the ones who refuse to leave!"
[Accept]

Sam Wiles, Director of Human Resources, replies: "No! Who's to say the mutation won't come right back if we deport them? We should instead expand our research to study the mutation and find a cure! In fact, we should expand our research departments, period."
[Accept]

"That's terrible!" Keith Richards, Deputy of Human Welfare exclaims. "They're people too, you know. Next thing you know, we'll be waving a swastika around and executing disabled children!"
[Accept]

"Why is it so terrifying?" Asks Internal Affairs Supervisor Ashley Burns. "They're more physically capable than any human and don't do much thinking. We could use them for manual labour and save millions! Think of the money!"
[Accept]

All suggestions are welcome. Please do not flame me for being racist, as I am not. (Read option 3 in its entirety)

I think you meant Muscular Dystrophy, but I'd actually advice that you just say, "children with disabilities".

You might want to describe a bit more about the mutation in the first sentence. I wasn't sure what the mutation was ... having a country full of X-Men sounds half fun. ;)

A hereditary mutation has begun spreading
How about "A beneficial but unpredictable series of mutations has begun spreading ..."

Ah, right. Yes, 'disabled children' would be more politically correct than naming a random disability. Good call. =)

Well, it's not entirely beneficial - see option 4. (Another mistake on my part; it doesn't tell you the effects of the mutation in the issue. >_<)

"This virus has to be stopped," an outraged citizen declares, "before the entire nation is overrun with them! We need to deport these mutants and execute the ones who refuse to leave!"

Its not a virus, its a random mutation... So you can't really go around calling it such. How about this for the firsst sentance: "The abominations must be stopped,"

Good call, there. (*secretly fires his proofreader.*) I like the sound of abominations...it sounds more like the kind of thing you'd expect to hear an outraged citizen say. =)
