How many issue editors are there?

Right now, there's only me.

*cough*

Uh-oh. I just submitted an issue, and my population is only 9 million... Does this mean my issue will be ignored by default? See, I've played the game before for quite a while, getting to way more than 500 million, but then I took a break for several months and lost my nation, thus having to start over... yeah. Would the issue just be deleted automatically, or will someone actually read it first, in which case it might still get a chance? (Me follow all the guidelines and the thread on how to write an issue and all)

500 million applied to NS before the move to Jolt, and it hasn't been put back into place. You're fine, your issue will get looked at and consider like everyone else's.

Is there a way to review all the issues about which I have already decided to see what my answers were?

No, you can only view the effects of the last few issues you answered in your nation's description.

No. An issue is attributed only to whoever submitted it.

Nope, that restriction still applies.

Ahahahaha! Hahaha! Free speech! No, it's not. I run this web site, see, so you have to play by my rules. It's like my own Father Knows Best state.

A private entity such as Nationstates isn't required to have freedom of speech. If they wanted, they could delete any post they disagreed with, ban any member that didn't fit their criteria, etc.

I got issue's.

How can some nations create a custom title for example "The Dark Lord of Rotterdam" (made up) for example and why can't i ?

And flag size, I click on some nations and they are massive but I have to suffer a little 71x71 square for example ?

When you reach a population of 500 million, you are given the option to customize the first part of your nations title. Think of it as an added bonus for sticking around.

It says 107x71 actually. Before NationStates moved to Jolt, flag limit size was limited to 6kb. The 107x71 size was nothing more than a guess on how to keep the file size under the 6kb limit. Now the file size limit is 10kb (even though, I think over 9.5kb will cause problems). You can make flags larger than 107x71, as long as the file size does not go over the limit. For example, my flag is 214x128, but the file size is 8kb, falling under the file size constraints.

Why does my nation have to have a population of over 500 million?[/b]

Because hopefully by then submitters will know what a good issue looks like.

One last thing... what the Hell is a 'watershed'?

*groans* The watershed, when connotated to televisions, is the hour after which adult material is allowed to be broadcast. It's a widely used term in the UK, where I live, but evidently not so elsewhere.

1. hopefully
2. for americans who at least watch Cartoon network a "watershed" is "adult swim."

Is there any truth to the rumor that there are two sets of issues, large nation and small nation? if so when is one considered a "large" nation?
Sirocco
03-02-2005, 18:23
There is only one set of issues. You can only get the first 31 (the ones that Max Barry wrote) for the first two weeks or so of playing before getting player-submitted issues afterwards.

Okay, a few times I picked a stance to take and another one was followed. For the "Fast food protests" I picked "Better standards in slaughter houses" and next thing I know Meat eating is frowned upon.

Yesterday I gave Soda workers better pay, and now they are always on strike and civil rights no longer exist in my nation?

What happend? Is it because I chose the "Evil" government type and those descisions weren't evil enough? Or perhaps a bug of some kind?

Choices can sometimes have undesired side-effects. Actually, in this game they often do ;)

The issues you refer to:

#7: Animal Liberation Front Strikes Again
Option: "These Liberationists are highlighting an important issue," pleads @@RANDOMNAME@@. "Too often, animals are put through needless cruelty, just to make their flesh taste a little more deliciously succulent. I'm sure we could ban the more horrific abuses without putting too much of a dent in our national obesity figures. Couldn't we?"

A side-effect of this option is that your population will come to associate meat-eating as contributing to the cruel treatment of animals.

#16: @@MAJORINDUSTRY@@ Workers Strike!
Option: "We are the backbone of this country, and we demand a fair wage rise!" says union leader @@RANDOMNAME@@. "I don't think a 20% increase over two years is too much to ask. Unless the government forces employers to give us our due, we'll shut this whole industry down! Let's see how well @@NAME@@'s economy manages without any @@MAJORINDUSTRY@@, huh?"

You gave them their 20%. A hefty raise, I think. It should be no surprise that workers in other areas observe the success of their colleagues in the Soda industry and will hence also look towards strikes to increase their wages. Rewarding certain behaviour will lead to more of that behaviour to be shown. In this case that means more strikes. I have no idea how this would affect your civil rights though.

13-02-2005, 16:51
Since I'm trying to roleplay the Republic of Ayaddha as an Islamic Republic, these references to Catholicism in issues are bizarre. Is there any way to add @@RELIGION@@ and @@RELIGIOUSAUTHORITY@@ in place of static values like "Catholic" and "Bishop" so that the "story line" flows better?

Obviously not something to be done immediately, but a suggestion for the next modification...

I'm looking for a place to make some suggestions about issues and the way that they work. Am I in the right place to do that?

If not, could someone direct me to a place where one can?

thanks,

You could probably make your own separate thread in this forum (Got Issues?) for that. Yes, you're in the correct area.

Is there a sticky anywhere listing the [stats] part of every issue option?

If not there ought to be.

You don't actually need to put [stats] in, that's something that the issue editors will pore over anyway. And there's many variables that are secret too, so there's not much point in this.
Yiplonia
19-06-2005, 00:22
Although many are secret, it wouldn't hurt if some kind, courteous mod would simply list the [stats] which appear in UN reports, since they're the easiest to see... but but but it's your call *flees* don't smite meee!
