Idea for NS issue: Fireworks legality

I had an idea for an issue for NS after 4th of July, submitted it, and got no response. I am posting it here for comment and support.

Title:
Should the Founder's Fireworks Fizzle?

Summary
National Founding Day is approaching, and with it the usual displays of fireworks in major cities. However, some of your citizens are not satisfied with sitting on the sidelines, and are clamoring to be able to buy their own fireworks for pyrotechnic pleasure.

Validity:
Not vaild for nations who have banned fireworks completely. (previously taken option 3)

Option 1:
"Are you crazy? We don't need fireworks legalized!" cries @@RANDOMNAME@@, mother of five. "If you start letting people buy fireworks willy-nilly, then the kids will start shooting them off, and then start shooting them at each other! Sure, I enjoy watching the shows every Founding Day, but I do not want my children running around with explosives."

Option 2:
@@RANDOMNAME@@, the CEO of Kabooms, Inc., is appalled. "Some people are just that stupid. Deal with it. We put nice, clear labels on all our fireworks that basically say, 'Light fuse and haul outta there,' not 'Light fuse and look down barrel to make sure it is lit,'" he says, sitting on a crate of bottle rockets and smoking a cigar. "Look, they've been around for hundreds of years, people should know how to handle them, when they buy them. I think you know what to do."

Option 3:
@@RANDOMNAME@@, the fire chief of @@NAME@@'s capital city, has a different view on things. "Do you know how many calls we get on Founding Day just from forest fires set off by debris from those shows? We don't have time to get to all of them! Last year, we lost a few homes to those fires, and with the budget cuts this year, we may lose more! Fireworks need to be banned completely. Our economy may falter a little, but at least our nation will be safe. I think that is a fair trade."

The stuff between the @ signs is code for the program to stick in a random person's name (@@RANDOMNAME@@), or your country's name (@@NAME@@). I have removed the effects and stat changes in order to keep the consequences a surprise if it gets accepted. If asked by a moderator, I will put them in.

Any suggestions?

I disagree with the first part of your statement; I think this issue has merit despite the time of the year, only because there are still a lot of folks who buy fireworks throughout the year and use them on more occassions that amassed on July 4th or New Year's Eve/Day.

It's a pertinent issue, because of several factors, mostly because of the trans-state issue where it's illegal in one state but a neighboring state has it legalized.

Good luck upon submission!

The other thing in the US (real-life here) is that in some situations, you have fireworks illegal to buy but legal to possess in some states, completely legal in others, completely illegal in more, and more still where it is up to the individual counties.

And this is a good isssue for all times of the year, because it is based on a nation's Founding Day, the NS equivalent of 4th of July or Canada Day.

And I will change the name to Dynamite, Inc. (I think that is what you were trying to get across...)

Anyone else?

And I see this got moved. Thank you, whoever did that.

I think it's a great issue. I look forward to getting it one day.

If I were you, I'd change the qualifications part. No matter what you choose, you should always be able to get the issue again. That's what's happened to me on a number of occasions.

true but not easy to buy for instance in my area you either import or order online etc. because when "out of season" fireworks are difficult to come by. They are legal in my state if your over 16 to buy thats the only regulation I know of other than the ban on bottle rockets and such so its not to bad here but could be better. I buy mine out of town from farmers hiding in there fields with the good stuff :)

Yeah I hope this is passed and I get to vote on it in my nation

I'm reviving this thread, because the FAQ says that all issues submitted before August 18th were fininshed. I can't quite remember when this was put in, but the first post here is dated August 6. So, this is basically asking for a confirmation that the issue died.

Edit: also would like to know, if it died, why it was rejected, and what I should do to fix it.

OMG! Teh gravegigga! :p

I thought that you got a TG or something that told you that your issue was accepted or that you actually got it as an issue the first time you could but I'm not really sure... I hope it got accepted though, it was a cool issue.

Once it is accepted and implemented, you get a telegram, and the issue in your box. I recieved no such message, nor the issue, which would lead me to believe it was refused. I'm just asking to make sure it was, and if so, why. Especially since almost everyone in this thread liked it.

IF this is still alive, this is a great idea for an issue. I'd like to see a more detailed write up and then I can have more feedback. Just be sure to have more than 'liberal', 'conservative', and 'compromise' as your choices.

What do you mean by "more detailed"?

Basically with the effects and stats. :)

Oh. I said I wouldn't put those in unless a mod asked me to specifically. It kinda ruins the surprise.

And if I put them in a spoiler box, then everyone's going to read them whether they know what they're looking at or not.

Well, if the issue was rejected it may have had something to do with the effects and stats. If you show people, then maybe we can comment. It's no big spoiler anyway, not many people visit the "got issues" section of the forum much.

I don't think so. The mods have the effects and stats when I submit the issue, and none of them asked me to post them here. I know that it's not much of a secret once it's implemented, but then, it hasn't been yet. If a mod asks me to, I will put the technical stuff in. Not before.

Speaking of mods, I would like some response, please... even a "no, we're not going to tell you" would be ok at this point.

Well personally only got one prob with this - why the 4th July??

That doesn't apply to anyone NOT from the USA - so how about keeping to the New Years idea cos that includes most people

This doesn't have anything to do with 4th of July.

The issue says that the fireworks are for Founding Day - the day your nation was created. The bit about 4th of July in my first post said that I thought about the issue around then. Not that the issue was about it.

Still waiting...
