[Note: Issue title tenative. May change]
Title: Kill the Condom?

Description: Recently a substantial group of religious conservatives have marched on @@NAME@@'s capital, calling for a ban on contraception.

Validity: Valid for all

Options:

[option]"Does not God tell His people to 'be fruitful and multiply?'" says Father @@RANDOMNAME@@ of the Sacerdotal Society of Saint @@RANDOMNAME@@. "This bestial and Satanic thing known as 'birth control' is an evil and immoral violation of His will, a clear sign that @@NAME@@'s Catholics have been decieved by the evil Vatican II. Birth control must be banned!"
[effect]married women are required to have as many children as physically possible
[stats]nation becomes more devout, civil rights go down, health goes down

[option]"I agree with my (schismatic) colleague here," remarks Monsignor @@RANDOMNAME@@ of Human Life @@NAME@@. "While contraception is a mortal sin, couples only recourse to it because they have not heard of the wonders of Natural Family Planning. NFP helps couples regulate the number of children they have, and also educates them in the virtue of martial chastity- which is totally different from celibacy, by the way. All coulples should learn this holy and blessed program program."
[effect]all married couples are reuqired to learn Natural Family Planning
[stats]nation becomes more devout, taxes go up slightly, health increases

[option]"I can't believe what I'm hearing!" shouts Outlined Paternity/Maternity leader @@RANDOMNAME@@. "Condoms, pills, and other forms of birth control are a great and glorious way for couples- and unmarried people, too- to avoid the hideous disease of- ugh- pregnancy if they choose to. Contraception shouldn't be outlawed, it should be a required subject in all of @@NAME@@'s schools!"
[effect]all students must learn about contraception
[stats]taxes go up, health increases

[option]"No, you're ALL wrong!" replies @@RANDOMNAME@@, leader of @@NAME@@'s Female National Socialist Movement. "You all avoid the TRUE crime of the subject- the fact that babies are born from that terrible, disgusting thing known as male-female sexual intercourse. All men should be castrated at puberty, and if a woman should want to have a baby, she can be artifically inseminated."
[effect]all males are castrated, making in vitro fertilization the only way that women can get pregnant
[stats]civil rights go way down, health increases slightly, nation becomes more liberal

[option]"Baning condoms? Forced castration?" inquires noted civil libertarian @@RANDOMNAME@@. "Why don't we just let people choose what they want to. Use birth control? Fine. Don't want to? More power to you. And schools, like Catholic schools, shouldn't be made to tell their students about this stuff if they don't want to. It's all about freedom, man."
[effect]The government has adopted a lassiez-faire policy towards birth control
[stats]civil rights go up

What do you think?

God bless,

I don't think the consequences for the first two issue choices should be pretty much the same in the first respect.

Interesting...but option 3 isn't forcing contraception, is it? So why the last option? Plus 1+2 look a bit similar.

They are only similar in the first effect. After that, they are opposites. One encourages awareness via family planning. But I'd tac on a civil rights hit with that second option as worded.

Another take on option two would be to have taxes increase and for "local governments operation family planning centers free of charge" pop up. Couples could be given the choice to go or not, but your government and health would increase.

How does using birth control raise health? I mean, some methods can actually be quite detrimental to the human body...

#4 is um... original. :)

Actually, this could be a good option to spring forth a mulitude of 'femocracy' issues, in which the feminist movement goes to far. *Yikes!*

Condom use, which is what is being thought of here, reduces the risk of getting STDs.

yeah the first two could be merged but this is a good issue to go with the issue of abortion. This is one I'd really like to get and others to as well. Please put this one in mods!

#4, how can a nation become more liberal when the civil rights go way down?
