Some issues have unforseen circumstances, it's all part of the game. And even if i could change it, I wouldn't.

Well yes I already thought I understood that, but... are you positively telling me that some issues are intended to give you the exact opposite of your choices?

I can't see what's so contradictory about the option.

He said that he chose to *allow* morons the right to vote, i.e. against taking away.

The issue might be OK though. It is possible he only *thought* he selected that option and may have hit a different one.

In any event, it might be worth looking at the game code for that issue, because if what Druthulhu says is true, it really should be fixed.

(BTW, cool name for a country Druthulhu!) :)

You get the MENSA line in your nation if you decide to only let intelligent people vote.

...and hence my confusion, since I went the other way.

I just had this issue and I allowed morons to vote (they outlawed bubble-wrap...) and my Political Freedoms went from Superb to World Benchmark.

So perhaps you just picked the wrong choice, or is it possible for issues to mess up like this, because I too have experienced odd effects on my nations like Druthulhu has.

For example, the issue regarding outsourcing, I picked the choice dealing with reducing the regulations on business (which would lead to no free-wage...) for economic freedom and my economy went from Powerhouse to Thriving...

But if you allow no free wage it allows coporations to get bigger and therefore richer :)

So wouldn't that improve the economy?

In most nations, that issue would increase the economy. However, with some nations which already have very high economic freedoms, it does not.

Hmm... That would explain some issues I have been having with... erm... issues.

I have a similar problem. I had an issue asking for nazis to be outlawed. I selected the "let them voice their opinion" option, yet my page now says:

"extreme political groups are outlawed"

I don't get it. I specifically allowed it!

Edit: Posted about it here (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=9409332#post9409332) too.

(Just a possibly meaningless tip - while you have a thread in N&B, you might want to keep that huge throbbing sig out of the eyeline of the mods.)

From everything you've said it really does sound like you've pressed the wron option accidentally, or there was a temporary bug. What happened was definitely not 'supposed' to.

Only Mensa allowed? Maybe I should create a nation like that. :)

Usually I go with the moron option on that one. I don't like to restrict democratic freedoms in any of my democratic nations. My dictatorships, well... :)
