Idea for an issue! Let me know what you think:
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
A local garage owner closing his business on Sunday has sparked debate across @@NAME@@.

Option 1:
"Quite frankly I see nothing wrong with businesses halting trade on the holy day," preaches local pastor, @@RANDOMNAME@@. "In fact, the government should make Sundays a compulsory day of rest."
Effects: "businesses frequently close for religious reasons."
Stats: Economy down, devoutness up, religiousness up, political freedoms down.

Option 2:
"State and religion should remain separate," says the leader of the largest Civil Liberties group in @@NAME@@, @@RANDOMNAME@@. "The government cannot be shown to favour any one particular religion by endorsing it's preference. This isn't to say we shouldn't have a day off. How about Tuesday? I never did like Tuesday..."
Effects: "public holidays are decided by impartial lottery."
Stats: Civil rights increase, economy down, population happiness up, apathy increases.

Option 3:
"Rob us of a day's profit, are you mad?" laments business owner @@RANDOMNAME. "Think of the effect on @@NAME@@'s economy, not to mention loss of income for the population. If anything, we need less time off - spare the odd public holiday or so."
Effect: "the population has barely any time in which to relax."
Civil rights way down, economy up, happiness decreases.

I for one am happy to see an issue that will sort out secular from non-secular nations. There are few of these issues, but if you look at many of the UN proposals, it is clear that religion is an important factor in the policies of many nations.

Good job!

You do know to properly format an issue you use [option], [effect], and all that stuff, right?

I like it so far, although the second option is more than a little odd. Tuesday off in addition to the weekends? And how about a mention of service industries, utilities, and all that, do the fundamentalists want to close them down too? And is the third option meant to take away the traditional weekend rest as well - for everyone, even offices and desk jobs? Just some thoughts...

Yes, this is a preliminary draft.

Basically, option 2 gives you the choice to separate public breaks from any religious connotation (unlike Sunday, which does have religious significance). Option 3 is the token corporate option, i.e. less free time for the working public, and more time spent working. The implication in the last option is that all businesses will be effected, hence the "...business owner."
I could maybe tag on "...except for utilities vital to the running of our country, of course." onto the end of option 1.

@Tuesday Heights; I got the idea from local news.

"Oy Vay!" exclaims Rabbi @@Random name@@, spiritual leader. "In this day and age you still would impose the Roman *spits* so-called "sabbath" upon us? Ha Shem's own holy word commands us to forever keep holy shabbas on the seventh day. What's next... I'm expecting the Spanish Inquisition, maybe? People should be allowed to work whenever they feel like it... just make a law to say that employees may declare one 24 hour period that they may not be required to work during any week, upon hiring, and don't allow employers to make them work on that day. That should be enough for us and the goyim, too."

Effects: workers have the right under law to take any one day of rest that they like every week.
Stats: civil rights up, economy down slightly, devoutness up
